anyone got any rare articles or info on wut happened in this amatuer fight.
- wallace was a big 6'2 210lb highly touted amatuer who was 17-0(17) and he faced an unknown rocky marciano and marciano suprised the hell out of everyone by outfighting the highly touted wallace but was desprived of victory by a bad decision. wallace was being compared to joe louis at the time. he even looked like joe louis!
wallace never lived up to his billing in the pros. he was rated in the top 10 contender for a short time, but its safe to say his pro career was a HUGE dissapointment. i have seen him on film, hes pretty good. he had very good power especially in his right, decent boxing skills , good size and strength.
one thing i dont think people realize was how highly thought of wallace was. he was one of the biggest underachievers ever. he was supposed to be the next joe louis. he was a big powerul slugger who not only looked like a carbon copy of louis but supposedly fought like louis too. all the papers and experts were saying he was the carbon copy of joe louis.
here is marciano a unknown untrained 24 year old baseball failure fighting the best prospect in the world, who was 17-0 and had knocked out all 17 opponents!
i would love to see wallace full amatuer record

Rock
I think he is referring to Marciano’s amateur record which was 8-4.Decagon wrote:Henry Hascup once told Rocky Marciano's brother that Marciano lost to four different fighters. Marciano's brother didn't like that thought at all.
