Murat Gassiev vs. Krzystof Wlodarczyk: Who's watching?

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Gassiev (24-0) will be defending his IBF cruiserweight title for the first time against veteran former world champion Wlodarczyk (53-3-1) who is nearing the end of a lengthy career in the ring.

The winner will go on to face Yunier Dorticos in the final four after the Cuban knocked out Dmitry Kudryashov in the second round of their bout at the end of September.

When is Gassiev vs Wlodarczyk?
The fight is on Saturday, October 21 in Newark, New Jersey, meaning it will be shown live early on Sunday, October 22 in the UK.

What TV channel is Gassiev vs Wlodarczyk on in the UK?
ITV Box Office are showing the fight live for free with coverage of the undercard starting at 2.05am BST on Sunday, October 22.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any UK fans staying up to watch this?

I'm not working this Sunday, so if I can't sleep. I might just pop it on. Watched Gassiev vs. Lebedev (who is older than Wlod), and Gassiev didn't impress me.. Hopefully he does this time.

I might check it out. Gassiev beat one of my favourite fighters in Lebedev, so it will be interesting to see how far he goes in the tournament. If he wins tomorrow, his fight with Dorticos should be very interesting.

I didn't score the rounds individually but I thought he deserved the win in a 115-113 or 116-112 type win just from what I saw on the night. He's nothing special to look at. Very basic and plodding but physically, he looks very strong and seems to have decent power and a good beard on him.

wlod will stand right in front of a harder hitting, younger, more durable guy. think hell get beaten down.

imo usyk-briedis will be a stinker, but the matchups on other side will be explosive. the guy who makes it to final from that side will get his chances overrated imo in the finals.

For me Usyk is still the favourite, but it would be interesting to see him fight a true pressure fighter like Gassiev or a serious puncher of Dorticos calibre.

I scored it for Lebedev 114-113, even though he was knocked out.. Gassiev didn't do much in the rounds.. Has a good minute and then steps back.. That was nearly a year ago, so I hope he has made improvements

gassiev looked so strong, durable, imposing. clearly his punches hurt lebedev and he was much stronger. yet, seemed to have him for taking yet spent so much time just moving forward like he was going to attack, but then he didn't actually throw. seemed like he couldve won by stoppage and dominated yet ended in a sd.

in other words, a strong but very one paced showing. i cant help but think hell need to up the gears against guy like usyk, but are the gears there to up.

Lebedev is durable as hell aswell so if you're managing to hurt him, you must have a pretty decent dig on you.

I think Lebedev just wasn’t hurting him so he just plowed on looking for the show stopper. It was close

Yeah I was impressed even though I wanted Lebedev to win. If you beat him, you're legit in my eyes.

Like Gassiev. Exciting fighter.

I'd of ranked Briedis #2 pre-tournament though.

I had Lebedev nicking it.

Gassiev will win a close one on points. Wlod is durable but think his best days are behind him. Around 115-113.
Gassiev looks like he can be outworked which is what Usyk will do.

Do you think Gassiev will beat Dorticos next though? I mean that's who he has to fight if comes through tommorow.

Lebedev looked like he is nearing the end.. Even though he put on a warrior-like performance.. He should have entered the tournament..

The winner of WBSS will be regular WBA champion.. and possibly get mandated to fight Lebedev...

I don't think we'll see Lebedev in a meaningful fight again.

All depends on if he can take Dorticos power. If he can he will win I think.

Yeah I don't think Dorticos is a great 'boxer' (like your typical cuban) but he can certainly whack! Lol

I think Dorticos/Gassiev is a close fight. I'm probably leaning Dorticos. Gassiev One dimensional, even though Dorticos isn't a typical Cuban he could figure him out.

I'm glad Lebedev isn't in the tourney, if the rumours are true he shouldn't be allowed in a boxing ring.
