Pretty insane that 32-year-old Joyce already seems to be more mature than then-26-year-old Whyte. Really makes you wonder what Joyce will be capable of when he's 41.

I know it seems like I'm always being hard on Joyce, but he's 32, and he's ranked #179 on boxrec. Which means there are 99 fighters younger than him who are ranked higher. So I mean... will Joyce even peak at a higher ranking than Otto Wallin, Sergey Kuzmin, Jermaine Franklin, Senad Gashi, Adrian Granat, Oleksandr Teslenko, Marcin Siwy, and Herve Hubeaux? In the long run, most of them will probably have more professional success than Joyce.

Being ranked 179 doesn't mean 178 fighters would be favoured to beat you, just that your achievements as a professional to date are less than theirs. 179 is pretty impressive for someone who has had only one fight ... but then you knew that didn't you? Have I missed the joke?

whyte was 28 and a half when he beat lewison and he's almost 30 now. did you even bother to look it up or does your maths just suck? hes plenty developed at those ages and was already a contender. joyce on debut did better than him against the same opponent.

funny thing is, most aren't touting joyce for great things and recognize his age will be a limitation, but they dont feel the need to autistically obsess over it and be nothing be negative.

Either that, or you get triggered any time anyone factors-in age at all.

Also, I don't have to root for him to fail. Joe Joyce's professional potential is way lower than Odlanier Solis's was, and Solis was an atrocious bust. It's basically written in stone that Joyce is going to be less accomplished both as an amateur and a professional than Odlanier Solis and Audley Harrison. So rooting isn't a factor, saying I told you so isn't a factor, it's just going to happen. It isn't a prediction worth gloating about, because it's so far beyond obvious.

also laughable to argue whyte was less physically developed when he was going on 29 against lewison. ya, he was just some little kid

Age will be a limitation. Everybody knows that it's why he's straight in with Lewison in his first fight. That alone propels him into the top 10 in the UK. I don't think he will win a world title but I see him as a contender sooner rather than later. I'll bet any money his achievements as a pro will surpass those of Audley Harrison for a start.
