It was Khan-Kotelnik. I was sat in that block. The bloke on here went on and on about it for years.G0mez wrote:Joking aside, it's right.
I remember seeing how a man took his wife to her first boxing show (Magnificent Seven possibly?)
And some Matthew Hall fans broke her nose when they kicked off after losing to Small.
Now if a man took his wife shopping, or for a meal or any other recreational event like a magic show or a comedy club - would her suffering a broken nose being acceptable ?
It seems if it happens at a boxing match, then it's kind of like "well it's boxing innit" attitude.
Hence a lot of people staying away from live events due to the drunken, coke-fuelled knobs and 'lads' that can't behave themselves.

Yobbos , only behave when theres comebacks , you will never stop it completly , but strict no id, no entrance , policy along with cameras to catch and match , and long jail terms for public disorder and violence , would go a long way ,,,

It wasn't his wife, it was someone else's, and it did happen. The police were in that night, British Transport Police as The MEN is part of the station. They got attacked, too.jamamb wrote:and rightfully so he went on about it if it actually happened. just awful behavior from an animal.mickey1975 wrote:It was Khan-Kotelnik. I was sat in that block. The last few times I've been to a live show has been either on my own or with one other mate, you seem to get left alone that way, if you keep a low profile. Live boxing is definitely not a family event these days, shite security and boozy cowardly coke-fueled knobheads are to blame in my opinion.
Re: Kalle Sauerland calls for police presence at fights
It was 100% after the Hall vs Small fight I’m referring to.
The Khan fight was another incident.
Still, shows it’s rife.

Never not seen police presence at the matchroom echo arena shows. Maybe some promoters pay extra for police presence when they feel its necessary.
Personally I think it should be the venue's that pay for the police presence as they're the ones that sell and make the profit on the £5 beers.

Re: Kalle Sauerland calls for police presence at fights
They will certainly do something about it when one of them loses a multi million dollar court case ,, I'm not a lawyer , and if theres any on here that can chime in and give us there views ,, But i was / am under the impresion that when they get a ;liscence to sell alchahol , they have a duty of care to keep the patrons safe , and just past behaviour at boxing shows is enough to show they need adequete security .. Any legal eagles out there with a sound knoledge of the lawbroomy7s wrote:Never not seen police presence at the matchroom echo arena shows. The hall v small fight was on a Manchester show Khan v kotelnik I was there.G0mez wrote:Joking aside, it's right.

Don't remember it kicking off. Though I was absolutely bladdered on free booze in a box that night
Re: Kalle Sauerland calls for police presence at fights
It's kicked off at most of the shows I've been to at the Manchester arena.
Now I know Hearn tries to promote his shows for football fans nights out etc but the same trouble happens at Warren shows.
It was bad at Smith v Williams this year. Mainly because of Paul Smith goading the crowd as well....
When Liam Williams beat Ronnie Heffon it got rally bad then as well. I had heard a lot of bad things about the Excel show which aphad Eubank v Saunders too.
You could say alcohol shouldn't be served from a certain time but people will just drink more early. You do need some police presence I think. Just like football but then at a lower level it could hit the promoter hard on costs.
Standard stewards is just not enough, I can understand them staying back. They don't get paid to deal with trouble like that.

The more I think about it though, there was something at the Mag 7 but memory of what happened is fuzzy now.

Make people under a certain age require parental supervision to attend.
Would Gaz, Smithy and Callum get pissed up and start fights if their mum was there to keep an eye on them?
I think not. Parental supervision for the under 25s.

Re: Kalle Sauerland calls for police presence at fights
im sure the general public thinks: men paying to watch other men hit each other sometimes decide to hit other men watching men hit each other.
it usually kicks off these days and there's always an edge. but its like the drug problem in the ring, nothing really happens and no sanctions. when mcness was beaten by byfield there was a huge fight in the crowd but i didnt see anyone arrested and i havent heard of any arrests even though the whole thing was being filmed. if that fight had happened at football, people would have been sent down. those looking for a scrap know that they can get away with it at boxing, so the problem just gets worse.
some sort of id-linked ticket could be a good way to start but you'd probably only get decent people abiding by the rules, all the idiots would find a way around it.

They're Scousers mate I think their nan having to attend would be more appropriate.tigermoth87 wrote:Make people under a certain age require parental supervision to attend.

As for having police there likely wouldn't solve much they just like to video rows and then kick in doors a few months down the line. Not the most helpful if your missus is getting her nose broken on the night I would imagine. As for all the talk of banning booze bit of a sledgehammer response, let's not make out the lads having the row are the majority. Most people go the shows get pissed or have a couple of quiet pints etc and cause no problems.
Maybe I've been really lucky but none of the bother I've seen at shows puts me off going again. Tends to be between likeminded individuals and avoidable for the majority of us if we don't want to get involved.

Big shows tend to be shite. Full of plonkers not there for the actual boxing, just to get on the sesh. Nothing wrong with getting on it obviously but watching boxing whilst off your tits is hard work imo.
You find most will avoid the undercard too which never makes sense to me!
Get proper security in, although this costs money. The type who genuinely know their role and will think nothing of knocking someone back if they are out of it. Few old bill for the event and if trouble does kick off, come down hard on those causing it.
Maybe issue warnings too. Hearn and co are all quick to offer their great nights out etc but they should also be telling people that trouble won’t be tolerated. Take some responsibility otherwise these shows will be 99% TOWIE types, off their nut, happy to hit someone from behind when with a group of pals backing them up, or throwing a bottle or two in to a crowd!
Then you get the old tarts all dolled up going to the big fight looking to land a bit of cock. The whole thing is like a shit nightclub which is trying to go upmarket.

Re: Kalle Sauerland calls for police presence at fights
Yeah Mag7 card some dude got KTFO after steaming into a load of people and a woman. He fell about 10 rows. Some dude in a green top did it from memory, was a fantastic one punch KO.
Were a number of brawls at Haye/Macca, one at Brook/Hatton (although I think it was one guy against a few), even saw 3 different ones at Hamed/McCullough. Couple at Rhodes/Rabchenka. Couple at Mathews/Crolla II.
There's been incidents where people have died in the UK, think someone died last week.

Re: Kalle Sauerland calls for police presence at fights
Two or three points here.
Firstly the Board inspect venues and discuss stewarding with the promoter if they think it's necessary. Watch this space now after Walsall.
Secondly a large police presence DOES make a difference. But this costs a lot of money. However discussions can take place between promoters and the police whereby a compromise can be reached. This happens at non league football matches where clubs don't get charged the full whack.
Thirdly, the sale of alcohol is THE major issue as proven by its ban in Scottish football for many years. There are hardly an incident within grounds in Scotland linked to alcohol consumption. But as someone else pointed out this is now part and parcel of attending a boxing event, and the ban on the sale of alcohol with strict searching at the entrance would reduce the numbers attending. Drug misuse is now endemic in society and as far as enforcement goes in terms of possession it seems that that train has left the station. That is a discussion for another day. But in terms of boxing, 2 stewards , or 2 police in the toilets ( no comments please!) would end the abuse at the event.
Unfortunately most promoters have a hard enough job,and just keep their fingers crossed and hope for the best. I do have a lot of sympathy for them.

Re: Kalle Sauerland calls for police presence at fights
Trouble at football has been reduced massively over the last 20 years or so. It used to be worse than the boxing is now by far, but its largely been dealt with. It's got to be better for building a sustainable live audience for boxing to take the bull by the horns before it gets even worse I think. You can have the only people at the boxing being coked up towie types looking for a fight. As someone else pointed out it generally means empty halls for the undercard and a big scrap before the main event or two. It's sh*t!

I’d have thought Towie types look to get bummed not fight? Are these orange, bejewelled poofters the new scourge?
