Who do you pick this time in Williams - Skelton rematch

Post by Max Molyneux »

After watching Skelton last time I think Danny wins better this time.

Danny by TKO. :TU:

Danny said that he would stay off the cakes, and if he's good to his word he should come in at an acceptable weight. A fit and focused Danny Williams should stop Skelton in the later rounds.

Danny usually performs well leading up to a big title challenge, unfortunetely he tends to fcuk it up when he gets there.

Skelton can hurt Williams no doubt (he did in fight 1) but Danny won the first fight clear (IMO) and should do so again.

Danny won the first fight and if hes great shape (below 255) would KO Skeleton, 165 or below and he makes it allot easier.

This may make me sound like a Tyson fan but if Danny could get down to 240-250 he could beat any of the belt holders.

The 12th was the best round towatch in slow motion as Danny landed that punch that cut Skelton!

The blood just flew through the air!

Williams by KO 1st half of the fight.

We dont want another long fight with a close points win, & we dont want Skelton, because we have Williams Vs Skelton III else!

I seriously doubt he could beat any of the beltholders. And I also seriously doubt he'll get anywhere near that weight again.

What about Lyakhovich? Danny has a better resume than him and Lyakhovich has been KOed by journeyman Maurice Harris, been down on one knee against Brewster and been pushed close by Guinn. He also would have only drawn with Sedreck Fields if Fields wasn't deducted 2 points. That track record is one of a champion that Danny can beat on his day in my eyes.

Despite all the talk, Danny will come in at 260+ yet again, I think the guy has some sort of eating disorder the way Bowe did. He seems to train pretty hard, but no matter how fit you get, carting 25 lbs of excess weight is going to slow you down and impair your movement.

Lyakhovich would batter Williams. he looked world class vs Brewster

Had the ref not intervened for that cut, I think he may well have stopped Skelton.

Of course you can look world class against Brewster because he's more of a puncher than a boxer.

Other than Brewster his best was Guinn.

Hope Danny doesn't mess his mandatory chance but he should beat Skelton again anyway.

And Vidoz ain't fought no one special anyway.

His best chance would be Valuev.

All this talk of 'on his day Danny can blah blah' is nonsense, Williams had his day long ago when he was a decent weight.

no idea what will happen in the rematch..what i do know is that despite skelton being a dirty fighter...He certainly wasn't losing that fight.
he got robbed.
LoL at this...The guy is in his 40's , ex kickboxer...and imo, His awkward style gave williams tons of difficulties..

i really don't see williams koing skelton. maybe he'll win an UD this time..
but i don't see him dominating skelton..

Robbed he was not. How many points did you have Skelton winning by? One? Two? There were close rounds and the result in the end could have gone either way. Skelton was not robbed though.

I know I am in the minority, but I would have been disgusted if Williams didn't get the nod.... not taking into account the fouls, I thought Williams was a clear winner by a minumum of 3 rounds.

I had it the same, Williams by 3 rounds. Skelton was shockingly bad, his technique was woeful. He looked better in his previous fight, was acutally landing the jab and throwing decent one-twos, but against Williams he just threw his arms around without seemingly any idea where the punches were going to land.

For the record, I also had Williams winning it by a couple of rounds but I expected it to be close on the scorecards.

First time I had it Skelton 115 - 114 but then I thought maybe I neglected to see Danny's cleaner fighting so I watched it again and had it 115 - 113 to Williams so I did neglect to see the cleaner fighting the first time.

If it hadn't been for the slack ropes Skelton could well have KO'd Williams or at least done enough damage to win the fight. This rematch could go either way.

If the ropes were such a massive factor in all this, how come Skelton didn't knock him out when they were tightened?

Williams had Skelton in a whole heap of trouble in that last round, and but for the ref, I think would have stopped him then and there.

The rounds were often close due to a lack of punches landed, but Skelton rarely landed anything solid after the 3rd.

I go for Danny again, I was disapointed by Skeltons dirty tactics during the fight... he should be made to wear a glove on his head...
