Now Helenius may be a pretty consistent gym goer I dunno but even if he is it's not the same as training knowing you've got a fight on such & such date. Hearn could've done the deal weeks before now so he's playing the percentages but he's holding the cards so why wouldn't he. It does suggest to me at least that he may not rate Whyte all that highly and he doesn't want what would be a fairly big grossing AJ date getting derailed by Whyte succumbing to a defeat unless it's a shot against either Wilder or Parker.
Helenius has been sparring with AJ and partners for 2-3 weeks in the UK so he has been training hard.

I wouldn't be surprised by any outcome in this fight, apart from Helenius stopping Whyte. However, if Helenius were to edge it like Chisora did in many people's eyes, he won't get the decision.

I didn’t realise this had been made. Should be a fun, if poor quality, fight.

How many times did he KO AJ in sparring?

I can't think of many people who look less like a boxer than Helenius. There's just something so incredibly unintimidating about him.

Whyte thinks that if he wins he gets a shot at Wilder. How long did it take Wilder to forfil his first mandatory?
Wilder does not want any part in Dillian Whyte. I don't even think he wants a go at AJ.

ElJefe wrote:Did I miss the point where Dillian Whyte earned a reputation as a world class heavyweight and a genuine draw in British boxing? That's how he and Eddie talk about him but I literally couldn't give less of a shitt about his fights. Whyte said a rematch with Chisora is a PPV main event ffs, his best wins are a razor close split decision over Chisora and a late stoppage of Lewison! Why does any of that warrant being chief support on a PPV bill? Especially when he's fighting the past his best (which wasn't that good anyway) Robert Helenius.
Spot on. He’s a British level plodder. But for his imaginary beef with AJ he’d be lined up to fight Sexton or Cornish next and there’d be nothing wrong with that, it’d be an interesting domestic clash.

Trouble is eddie knows he can sell a grudge rematch with AJ to 10million casuals at some point and so he has to keep Whyte relevant.

ya its pretty funyn how some ppl act like hes the boogeyman of the hw division. ffs he made chisora look like a highly dangerous ko puncher. hes decent but well below top level. id still like to see him miller. i see them as at same place in division and winner moves up a rung. would be a good figt.

Whyte has enjoyed a great rise in popularity due to the lack of top contenders right now. It's like there is a desperate attempt to create an in-country rival for AJ, but Whyte just doesn't have it. He is a plodding journeyman fighter who just hasn't fought good enough comp to show it yet. If Helenius isn't completely shot he will win this.

well i dont really like helenius chances. i mean he got totally splattered by duhaupas and his career has gone downhill since leaving sauerland. he looked really bad last fight so im not confident the duhaupas loss is unrepresenttive of where hes currently at.

I used to think Helenius had a great shot at the top, and I no longer think that but...

He didn't take Duhaupas seriously (career heavy) and I would favor Johann over Whyte as well.

Despite all that's been said, I like Whyte. He's grown on me. However, he's a fighter who only gains in attraction when he's put in proper fights. Theres a good chance Helenius could bring a good fight out of him, but for me, Jarrell Miller or the Chisora rematch were the fights to make.

I hope Fwank's apparent new partnerships with Selby & Degale force Hearn into giving the fans more of what they deserve, which is better PPV's. The calibre I'm shouting for is Whyte/Chisora on the Wilder/AJ bill, with other top, high level fights.
