Wilder says he’ll fight Whyte if he’s guaranteed AJ

Good sounds from Wilder, but a lot of guys talk while the other guys are tied up with fights coming up.
Makes perfect sense for wilder though. Whyte if he beats Helenius is well ranked and it would pay well. Boosts profile for the Joshua mega fight in England

Re: Wilder says he’ll fight Whyte if he’s guaranteed AJ
Wilder still wants a minimum of almost five times his career-best fight purse in order to even entertain the idea. Deontay's biggest fight purse currently stands at $1.5m.
Hearn offered him a package that roughly equated to $4m ($3m guarantee plus US TV revenue), but 'The Bronze Bomber' has requested that Eddie come back with a better offer, somewhere in the region of $7m to $10m.
I provided the interview transcript relating to this demand yesterday.

Yes I had read previously that wilder turned down 3 million quid wanting 7.
I like the noises of fighters wanting the fight, just hope people can be realistic with the money

So first he says you need to pay more as 5 mil for his belt, in other words, he expects to lose against Whyte, the next moment he says he knows he would win this fight. And TBH I think it's a 50/50% match, it's by far the most exiting match yet. AJ has allready said he would fight the winner of Ortiz/Wilder, I bet he woud also gladly fight the winner of Whyte/Wilder. If Wilder accepts 3,5 mil each fight and only get's the second fight if he wins the first, it seems to me like a done deal.

I saw Hearn saying he wants the Wilder fight in the states.Ossyrules wrote:http://skysports.tv/DmDByV

The PPV will do well here regardless. Less well maybe if it’s vegas for the time difference.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I saw Hearn saying he wants the Wilder fight in the states.Ossyrules wrote:http://skysports.tv/DmDByV

Kinda makes the Whyte fight a bit of a null point for the fight to be in America. Will be interested how it plays out

Doesn't make much sense to have it here. They're both unknown. Though it would do more buys. From the UK it might get 75-100k here. Though that may be underestimating Eddie's ability to promote.

The Whyte fight is all about getting options on Wilder. It covers Eddie's bases and gives him a shot at a massive domestic rematch.

It screams duck dosent it?
Making huge demands and turning down more than generous offers. Pricing oneself out of the market.
Here is a real offer for a career high payday, more than double any other, and it's not enough.
Eddie says he does not think Wilder gets past Whyte. But either way it sets the winner up for mega bucks.
Wilder says he will thrash Whyte, so why not take the money?

Yea indeed, Wilder says he would accept such a deal, but in reality he actually doesn't do that ofcourse, unless he knows a way how to get out of it.Stuarty30 wrote:Lay off the glue broasdfjkl wrote:So first he says you need to pay more as 5 mil for his belt, in other words, he expects to lose against Whyte, the next moment he says he knows he would win this fight. Wilder is just waiting to defend against Spong, the new WBC Latino champion, I'm sure they'll find a place for him in their top 15...asdfjkl wrote:Yea indeed, Wilder says he would accept such a deal, but in reality he actually doesn't do that ofcourse, unless he knows a way how to get out of it.Stuarty30 wrote:Lay off the glue broasdfjkl wrote:So first he says you need to pay more as 5 mil for his belt, in other words, he expects to lose against Whyte, the next moment he says he knows he would win this fight. Interesting quote from DW considering he recently called out Whyte publicly for being a juice head. Nothing more than chitchat imo

I think a crowd in Alabama would be a struggle to find for that one. Mind you, Spong looks good on paper to the casual observer, just like Washington did.

It doesn't scream duck. It screams negotiating for the best price for number 1. You tell me one big fight that hasn't happened in boxing in the past 10 years without years of negotiating to make it worth it's while?KiwiRider wrote:It screams duck dosent it?

Please articulate your economic argument to explain your reasoning? If Wilder is being offered almost five times his typical payday to face Whye, then why demand more? I can't understand any fiscal argument that explains his decision-making.ThereByTheGrace wrote:It doesn't scream duck. It screams negotiating for the best price for number 1. Re: Wilder says he’ll fight Whyte if he’s guaranteed AJ
My thoughts too. There isn't a fiscal reason. In real terms, I'm not sure Wilder can generate that sort of money without Hearn. He couldn't get that for fighting Ortiz, and there is nothing to say he is worth any more than he has been getting his last 5 fights considering he couldn't raise a crowd either.Enlightened-One wrote:Please articulate your economic argument to explain your reasoning? Re: Wilder says he’ll fight Whyte if he’s guaranteed AJ
I expect Wilder to lose that one actually, Tyrone got a similar body as Povetin. Same length, same reach, a bit more musclar. And he got a high KO rating, unlike anyone else Wilder ever fought.KiwiRider wrote:Egad no!chinarich wrote:Wilder is just waiting to defend against Spong, the new WBC Latino champion, I'm sure they'll find a place for him in their top 15...asdfjkl wrote: Yea indeed, Wilder says he would accept such a deal, but in reality he actually doesn't do that ofcourse, unless he knows a way how to get out of it.

Re: Wilder says he’ll fight Whyte if he’s guaranteed AJ
What exactly are these options that Hearn has demanded of Wilder?
Why aren't team Wilder screaming 'foul' and making sure everyone knows that there is an alternative explanation for his rejection of double his best ever purse father than the one which suggests itself, namely that he isn't confident of winning and doesn't want to put his unification fight at risk?

Re: Wilder says he’ll fight Whyte if he’s guaranteed AJ
Its pretty simple really. All Hearn has to do is guarantee the Joshua fight next if Wilder beats Whyte. Why risk going over there without it? Making a belt holder travel to a foreign country to fight will cost you. Its a good payday for Wilder, better than he has had so far. Hearn has lied to Wilder before about him being next. Wilder is smart by telling him to put it in writing.KiwiRider wrote:My thoughts too. There isn't a fiscal reason. In real terms, I'm not sure Wilder can generate that sort of money without Hearn. If I were Wlder I wouldn't even talk about it anymore until they show the contract he wants. He needs to focus on the Stiverne fight first.
