So how long will AJ still be promoted by Hearn?
So how long will AJ still be promoted by Hearn?
Very interesting interviews coming out from IFL last night, first up Hearn saying that he would love to work with Tyson and then AJ saying that they would be good for each other.
Both interviews are well worth a watch, AJ sounds to me a little pissed with hearn.
Hearn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-NKxCsHNB0&t=364s
AJ: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkGL7eZGqV0&t=206s
So what does this mean could AJ will be moving on from Hearn soon to promote himself or AJ Boxing in association with Matchroom sports, sky will back AJ where he goes and he has the backing of Showtime as well, so why the need for hearn, AJ could pocket another couple of million or so per fight.
Is that why Hearn is scouting Tyson at the moment, does he know that is happening soon.
If I was Tyson I would be thinking about it, he only has to look at his last proposed fight against Wlad at the MEN, it was reported that about 12k tickets were sold just before the pull out and also look at his cousins last fight at the MEN in front of 5000 fans then look at last night against a real no body and still sell 78000 tickets. We all know where the money is and hearn would work wonders for Tyson’s profile where as hennessey wouldn’t have a clue how to. Hennessey won't be please with Hearn comments as Tyson must be his only way of making any money these days.

Re: So how long will AJ still be promoted by Hearn?
I actually think Hearn is under a bit of pressure for the first time.
Dillian whyte gave an interview with IFL TV this week and was alluding to a move away from Hearn and frustrations with him. Eubank jnr is doing well away from Hearn and BT have picked up Degale and Shelby, both having clearly had issues with Hearn. Interesting times.

Can't see why AJ would leave Hearn, he's making a fortune

Whenever AJs contract is up Hearns percentage will no doubt take a nose dive assuming AJ keeps him involved.

Whyte has done extremely well out of Hearn.liamlion wrote:I actually think Hearn is under a bit of pressure for the first time.

The deal is up next December but I believe Hearn will get it renewed but have his % dropped.I think it works for everyone Eddie still gets a decent whack and the kudos of working with the heavyweight champ and Joshua gets some one to do all the donkey work and take all the flack.
He could go it alone cause a fuss at Sky and work direct with Sky when his deal is up with Eddie but he still would have to pay some one to do the donkey work I suppose that person would be cheaper but Hearn is a good shield from himself getting grief about the shows.

Re: So how long will AJ still be promoted by Hearn?
I'm not sure AJ would leave Hearn.
Hearn seems to be doing a great job promoting and I would arguably say he's been matched and promoted as well as any fighter in recent memory since he's turned over.
Hearn is talking about Fury as it''s been 2 years since he last fought and there are is no sign of that changing. If it does then he can make the biggest British fight ever and it would be one that makes everyone loads of money! He clearly believes he could do a better job of resolving the situation than Hennessy and I wouldn't disagree with him.

Re: So how long will AJ still be promoted by Hearn?
Hearn knows Fury is at his most beatable now. Also, whilst Joshua does decent business against anyone, Fury is one of the three absolute megafights on the table along with Wilder and Haye. He needs to keep his name in the frame as a possible opponent.

They've done alright so far. Why change it when it's going so well.

AJ isn’t selling out national stadiums and doing hundreds of thousands of ppv buys because he’s knocked over a few tin cans.
He’s doing it because eddie’s a fkn marketing genius who came up with this “humble, decent, respectful, ordinary guy” persona for AJ and sold it to the casuals brilliantly.
Whatever % he’s getting he’s well worth it.

Maybe Joshua is actually a decent genuine lad?CaptainSpacerod wrote:AJ isn’t selling out national stadiums and doing hundreds of thousands of ppv buys because he’s knocked over a few tin cans.

Groves has done a great job convincing people he’s avoided Hearn. He’s had more fights on Hearn shows than off them. If that’s him avoiding Hearn then what the hell does pursuing him look like?nitro5912 wrote:Groves isn't do to bad having avoided fastcar.liamlion wrote:I actually think Hearn is under a bit of pressure for the first time.

Re: So how long will AJ still be promoted by Hearn?
Eddie not stupid, he wants to sign Fury as he can see Joshua is very beatable and if any of the old Tyson comes back he would most likely beat AJ and Matchroom and Sky will then have Fury on board to generate PPV buys. If fury is marketed right he can sell out stadiums as well. Fury been very poorly advised and marketed through out his career.
Re: So how long will AJ still be promoted by Hearn?
Fury doesn't have any casual appeal. Think about it. Is he a big puncher? No. Is he good looking? No. Does he have a big local fanbase? No. Are his fights exciting? No.Glass Joe wrote:Eddie not stupid, he wants to sign Fury as he can see Joshua is very beatable and if any of the old Tyson comes back he would most likely beat AJ and Matchroom and Sky will then have Fury on board to generate PPV buys. How do you then turn him from a guy who couldn't get near selling 20,000 tickets into someone who shifts four times that? The answer is you can't.

The only way Fury sells a stadium out is against an opponent who can sell a stadium out.Glass Joe wrote:Eddie not stupid, he wants to sign Fury as he can see Joshua is very beatable and if any of the old Tyson comes back he would most likely beat AJ and Matchroom and Sky will then have Fury on board to generate PPV buys. Re: So how long will AJ still be promoted by Hearn?
Interesting question in the thread title.
AJs loyalty to Hearn will be tested at some point.
Will Al Haymon want to muscle in?
Will Mr W arren & BT exert some of their financial muscle in attempting to lure Team AJ in?
I personally think Hearn has done a brilliant job with AJ & more importantly that warrants some loyalty - but if Hearn or any other promoter expects that from any boxer they need to buy a dog
Personally I think AJ will stay put, but, do not underestimate Mr W arren.

Re: So how long will AJ still be promoted by Hearn?
I doubt very much Haymon would have any chance of getting AJ's services. AJ is definitely a far bigger attraction in the U.K. than he would be in the States, and Haymon I don't think would be able to match what Hearn is able to do for AJ.
I'm sure there'll be promoters that try to buy AJ's contract, but I don't know that they'd be able to offer him more than Hearn is able to.

Doubt it. They've got Frampton. He's a drop in the ocean compared to Joshua. Beyond that? Flanagan and Saunders are nobodies. Warrington does well locally but that's about it.Spud wrote:BT will be able to

I am telling you now BT & Mr W arren have the financial muscle ... if you still doubt me, do your research.
BT & allegedly also have the ability to put on PPV events

Re: So how long will AJ still be promoted by Hearn?
Hearn's wasn't the biggest contract (money-wise) on the table when AJ turned pro. That's not to say he couldn't have his head turned now, but money certainly wasn't the main concern then.
I think as long as Hearn keeps the big fights coming regularly Joshua will stick with him.

From a casual check BT Sport is in around 1.7m homes in the UK and Sky are in around 12m across the UK and Ireland.Spud wrote:Doubt it??

I genuinely think Warren's time has slightly passed as a promoter of genuinely massive fights, and that is all Joshua is going to be involved with from now on.
