It has been reported that Australian amateur boxing legend Tony Madigan has passed away, aged 87.
Madigan competed in boxing at the 1952, 1956 and 1960 Olympics and finished in 5th, 5th and 3rd place. In 1960 Madigan famously lost his semifinal to Muhammad Ali, but finished on the dais with him, winning the bronze medal.

RIP to one of our greatest amateurs. After retiring he made a huge success of himself in business in the US. And by all accounts he was also a decent guy. Hats off
