Amir Mansour Hires New Advisor; Hopes for World Title Opportunity
Top rated heavyweight Amir “Hardcore” Mansour announced today that he is bringing veteran international boxing adviser and agent Ivaylo Gotzev of Epic Sports Enterprises on board to assist with his boxing career.
Mansour said,
“After the WBC and PBC (Premier Boxing Champions) gave me the opportunity to fight an elimination bout against Kauffman, we really thought that we would get our title shot against Deontay Wilder.”
“Instead, things stalled and now we’re about to see Stiverne vs Wilder 2. I’ve proven myself as one of the best heavyweights in the world but I’m constantly being denied opportunities to prove it. Moving forward, I contacted my longtime friend Ivaylo Gotzev and asked for his help. IvayoI has been a true friend to me throughout the years and I believe that his added help will make all the difference in my moving forward. He’s had heavyweights fight for and win World titles in the past and most importantly he believes in me and my team. We’re looking forward to getting at the very top and giving Ivaylo the bargaining tools to get us there!”
Gotzev said,
"Amir is one of the most exciting heavyweights in the world today. He has been avoided for 2 good reasons, one, he is a huge puncher and two, his mental toughness. He has the traits of an old school all-action heavyweight that has been sorely lacking in our sport recently. His tenacious come-forward do-or-die style keeps fans on the edge of their seats. In today's rise of the heavyweight division Amir belongs right at the top. I see him as a potential winner against any of the current champions. In his last fight, he defeated highly regarded Travis Kaufman (31-1) to win the WBC continental title. I'm looking at all the big fight possibilities that are out there for Hardcore Mansour.”

What title was the Mansour-Kauffman fight an eliminator for?Ruthless-RKO wrote:Mansour said,

Both guys weren’t top fifteen WBC rated heavyweights when they fought each other and they aren’t now.
Therefore, why did Amir Mansour, who wasn’t even listed in the WBC’s top forty fighters (at the time) expect that a victory over the 19th ranked Travis Kauffman would secure a bout between himself and Deontay Wilder?
Re: Amir Mansour Hires New Advisor; Hopes for World Title Opportunity
Probably would've been a good idea to have been looking to get a title shot a hell of a lot sooner than now. He's like 45 now isn't he?

Lately? I know he had lengthy prison sentence in his 20's and 30's, but I didn't think he'd been in jail anytime in recent years.TooMuch wrote:He's been busy being in jail.gilgamesh wrote:Probably would've been a good idea to have been looking to get a title shot a hell of a lot sooner than now. I believe at the time, he was ranked in the top 20 by WBC, after the Kauffman fight, his ranking dropped. I can't seem to find the archive rankings.. I have been trying to get hold of them.Enlightened-One wrote:What title was the Mansour-Kauffman fight an eliminator for?Ruthless-RKO wrote:Mansour said,

Mansour has been active every year since 2010. Eight years is more than enough time to win a world title. Just ask Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua, Joseph Parker, David Haye etc.gilgamesh wrote:Lately? I obtained my information from the ‘WayBackMachine’ internet archive. Click on the hyperlink for details of the WBC’s rankings snapshot from the 19th February, 2017, which was only 26 days prior to the Mansour-Kauffman bout.Ruthless-RKO wrote:I believe at the time, he was ranked in the top 20 by WBC, after the Kauffman fight, his ranking dropped. Amir Mansour wasn't rated by the WBC when he fought Travis Kauffman. He is currently ranked 21st.
I don't understand his sense of entitlement for receiving a shot against Wilder, unless someone can explain it to me?

Ahh thanks..
I think he's just obsessed with fighting Wilder..
This screenshot is from December 2016, he was ranked #24
Re: Amir Mansour Hires New Advisor; Hopes for World Title Opportunity
He'd have a slight punchers chance against Wilder. His chance would've been better a few years back. I figure Wilder beats him fairly easy now. Wilder would probably be down to fight him though. He's not a Top 10 ranked Heavyweight so he's right up Wilder's alley.Ruthless-RKO wrote:

I like Mansour, he's not getting younger. I would like him to have his opportunity.. I think the loss to Breazeale (even though he was winning) set him back big time.gilgamesh wrote:He'd have a slight punchers chance against Wilder. His chance would've been better a few years back. He's same age as Briggs, he should give him a call.
Mansour would probably KO Briggs
Re: Amir Mansour Hires New Advisor; Hopes for World Title Opportunity
I'd confidently pick Mansour to KO Briggs, not sure it would advance his career much, but it'd be one of his more noteworthy wins, and yes losing to Breazeale set him back definitely. He probably would've gotten a shot at one of the titlists if not for that loss.Ruthless-RKO wrote:I like Mansour, he's not getting younger. I would like him to have his opportunity.. I like Amir Mansour a LOT. Too bad he spent prime years in prison. Give him rematch with Brazeale

Re: Amir Mansour Hires New Advisor; Hopes for World Title Opportunity
Hell even if not a rematch with Breazeale I wouldn't mind seeing him fight someone like say Szpilka or Jarrell Miller or Dereck Chisora or any of the other contender/fringe contender types. There's plenty of matchups to be made there that we've never seen.Cent0089 wrote:I like Amir Mansour a LOT. Too bad he spent prime years in prison. Give him rematch with Brazeale![]()

His KO on Kassi still stands out
Re: Amir Mansour Hires New Advisor; Hopes for World Title Opportunity
Given his age he doesn't really have any time to waste. I'd say he's probably already too old to have a particularly realistic shot of being able to win against even the weakest titleholder out there, so if he has to fight a few more fights to even potentially earn a shot...I just don't see that happening.Ruthless-RKO wrote:That't just it.. He's an exciting fighter to watch so I wish him the best, I just don't like his chances.

Szpilka doesn't need to be fighting anyone.gilgamesh wrote:Hell even if not a rematch with Breazeale I wouldn't mind seeing him fight someone like say Szpilka or Jarrell Miller or Dereck Chisora or any of the other contender/fringe contender types. Yeah probably not. Does he have a head injury of some sort? Or are you just saying he's past it, and doesn't have any business in a meaningful fight?SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Szpilka doesn't need to be fighting anyone.gilgamesh wrote:Hell even if not a rematch with Breazeale I wouldn't mind seeing him fight someone like say Szpilka or Jarrell Miller or Dereck Chisora or any of the other contender/fringe contender types. That Wilder shot was brutal, then he got run over by the Polish guy with the nice rack.

Re: Amir Mansour Hires New Advisor; Hopes for World Title Opportunity
Mansour is definitely better than Breazeale, and proved it in the ring.
I should have said little old Mansour. Breazeale was billed as a threat to Joshua. What a joke.

Re: Amir Mansour Hires New Advisor; Hopes for World Title Opportunity
Seems like a waste. Mansour isn't going to get a title shot, and he's about to retire. I really don't think he can beat a top 30 opponent, so I have no idea how they're going to defraud their way into a title shot.

Agreed. Mansour has never been better than a 3rd-tier fighter and it's hard to believe this thread is being taken seriously. This forum is not what it used to be.Lackeos wrote:Seems like a waste. Re: Amir Mansour Hires New Advisor; Hopes for World Title Opportunity
Mansour's probably a top 10 Heavyweight if you match him with others like Takam, Breazeale, Martin, Whyte, etc. He's got some solid wins which is better than some fighters who get a chance.
