Tony Bellew reveals why David Haye wasn't at 'AJ' fight on Saturday night

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Sky Sports Box Office's coverage was headed up by former world cruiserweight champion Johnny Nelson, former world super-middleweight champion Carl Froch, former European middleweight champion Matthew Macklin and former world cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew.

But one conspicuous absence among the broadcast team was David Haye, whose expertise and eloquence almost always sees him front and centre for the big fights.

But there was no sight of 'The Hayemaker' at the Principality Stadium on Saturday night, when Joshua extended his perfect professional record to 20-0 with a 10th round stoppage of durable challenger Carlos Takam.

According to Bellew, Haye's absence was no coincidence.

With just seven weeks to go until one of the most anticipated grudge rematches in British boxing history - Bellew vs. Haye II - Bellew insists that his rival simply refused to be a part of the coverage of the Joshua fight when he learned that the Liverpool heavyweight would be there.

"He [Haye] can’t stand me," he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast. "He can’t even look me in the face. He should have worked on Saturday on the AJ [Anthony Joshua] fight, but he wouldn’t be there because I was there.

"He detests me in every single way possible. He doesn’t believe I’m even on the same level as him.

"I haven’t really got any hatred towards David Haye, I just think he’s a plant pot!

"I’m looking forward to punching him in the face."

I think Bellew is unnerved by Haye’s relative quietness.

Bellew beat Haye.

But, but, Haye is so superior.

Can everyone stop worshipping this washed up old clown now?

You don't think Haye having an achilles that looked like spaghetti had anything to do with the victory?

Horse is a youngster mate. Still lives with his Ma, never been to a live boxing show and completely biased towards fighters he likes.

Of course.. Financially, Bellew needs the rematch more than Haye.. He will always be spitting Haye's name.

As much as I thought Haye would win first time around, I'm not so sure he will in the rematch, even if fully fit.

agreed; timing, weight, age, injuries ... yet on the other hand he was holding his own with one leg.

He got stopped on his feet, with only one foot.

So basically, he got stopped on one foot. He actually beat the count when he got knocked through the ropes.. Credit where it's due..

Just because I intensely dislike Haye, and have for years I'm gonna side with Horse here.

Haye just can't hang with Bellew. He got beat by the better man in March, and he'll get beat by the better man in December :OhYes:

WAR TONY!!!

I'm no fanboy, but if he was in his prime he'd put Tony in orbit

Halfway through? He looked hobbled during his ring walk. He completely blew it out halfway through the fight.

Yeh, I was wondering why he had the longest ever ring walk.. He was literally taking baby steps to the ring.
