Any word from Helenius?

Has he or his camp given any reasons for his bizarre performance?

He was an embarrassment. He’s probably wearing a pussyhat and in a gay sauna

Yes, he said he only had one week to prepare for the fight and that he knew this was a risk when he accepted it.

The fight sucked. You should leave it at that.

He's probably still trying to slow down his heart rate and set up the parade for showing the kids of the world that the Boogeyman is indeed human.

Sparring partner mentality, looks to have fully given up.

He was wild eyed through most of that fight. He’s in the wrong job.

He's past his prime, and he showed up to fight a British fighter on a British card. He was just there for a paycheck, and he fought like it.

thing is early rounds you could really see that his punches bothered whyte but he never once stepped it up at all, even though he used to be okay finisher at his level. desire gone and maybe hesistent from the ko imo. just a shell now and wad limited to start with.

The reason why he was picked was because he was AJ sparring partner for the Pulev fight , that's why Eddie picked him good name with a good record but he had all his ambition knocked out of him sparring AJ .

dont think hes had ambition for a while. looked like utter shitt the fight before whyte and then gained ten more pounds in a few months for this one. his career was pretty much done when he left sauerland, doubt aj really knocked the drive out of him. there wasnt much left there mentaly or physically with his constant injuries. and his baseline was too low for him to really be a player in the division with that type of decline.

He showed flashes of his talent at points, but then went back to not a lot. I think he half assed his training. Got through the fight, and got a nice paycheck.

I'm sure a few others will want to fight him now so they can say they did better than Whyte.

He looked to completely have the measure of Whyte in the second, making him lunge and miss horribly, catching him seemingly at ease and at one point wobbling him. Then round three he seemed to settle for a points defeat. It was bizarre.

I thought it was Banks/Mitchell II weird. The A side gets shaken up and so the B side immediately stops trying and coasts in defensive mode for remaining half an hour. Unfathomable.

The heavyweight division always seem to produce these boxers that just "don't turn up" on the night, flaky complicated characters that seem to have an on and off switch for ambition

dont know about the link but in particular watch the second when you find the fight. he clearly hurts whyte and then does eff all to follow up. as if he was like 'well thats good enough for me, ill just cover up from now'. its pretty much awful plodding stuff after that because helenius does nothing and whyte couldnt hurt him. at least ortiz got some knockdowns on scott in their borefest.

Cheers man! Just watched highlights and damn! He buzzes Whyte twice and Whyte’s eyes become enormous! Very very suspect....
