dont know about the link but in particular watch the second when you find the fight. he clearly hurts whyte and then does eff all to follow up. as if he was like 'well thats good enough for me, ill just cover up from now'. its pretty much awful plodding stuff after that because helenius does nothing and whyte couldnt hurt him. at least ortiz got some knockdowns on scott in their borefest.
Cheers man! Just watched highlights and damn! He buzzes Whyte twice and Whyte’s eyes become enormous! Very very suspect....
He was simply not in good enough shape to follow up. He was gassed after three, and apparently suffered an injury in the sixth. His own words were that he only had a week to prepare. It's still his fault because he shouldn't have let himself get so out of shape, but I believe he was chosen because they knew he wasn't in good shape and yet would still accept the fight because he's been wanting chances. The only two rounds he wasn't gassed in, he won. Hopefully he learns from this and doesn't get so out of shape between fights. At under 240 he beats Whyte.

Helenius said in interview after the bout that he had only one week to prepare for the bout. He also said that he had some kind of infection after the sparring with AJ. He was on antibiotics and not able to train.

When asked why he took the fight even when he knew he was not in shape the answer was " I needed the money".

He said that the plan was to go for early KO and if that failed survive and try again in the last round.

Frustrating stuff really... He has the skills from long amateur career, size, power and good chin. He only lacks stamina. And that is because he lacks the ambition to train hard and keep in shape. Bit fragile too but that could also be better if he trained more.

Thanks for that. I thought there was something not quite right about him. Shame really. He could have pushed Whyte further if he was in top shape. I thought he might have hurt his hands or something after the 3rd. Pity it turned into a stinker.

I'm sure a few others will want to fight him now so they can say they did better than Whyte.
He looked like he was having a chilled sparring session.
