Vassell v Lauri
Vassell v Lauri
Bit bizarre this but they meet in a 4 round fight in Manchester this weekend.
Giuseppi Lauri fights at Middleweight nowadays (& lives in Hungary) while Denton's last five fights weights have been 147 (Feb 2015) then two fights later that year at 161.5 then a fight a year later at Welter then back up to 154.75 three months back.
Weird that two blokes that fought at decent level (both Champions) now meeting in a 4 rounder on a small bill at Bowlers.

It's a odd one, didn't realise Lauri was still about he must be about 78 years old.

Can't believe Lauri is still going. What age is he now?
Re: Vassell v Lauri
Vassell now boxes Jordan Grannum.
Re: Vassell v Lauri
Must be nearly 20 years since he fought Hatton and Witter

Still a 4 rounder?
Re: Vassell v Lauri
Grannum started his career well didn't he. He was undefeated at one point
I like the nickname "The Brown Eagle". I might start using that myself.

Not sure if Denton should still be fighting tbh, he was training with my brother at both Bob Shannon's and when they both moved over to Oliver Harrisons. I noticed a big difference in his sparring and also his speech after the fight against Victor Plotnikov where he took a beating almost every round.
I hope I am wrong and that he can come again but I really think his best days are behind him and I for one would like to see him hang them up.

He took a beating in that fight.
I’d love him to hang them up. He’s a clever lad. Worked in a bank for a few years.

He was abysmal and he was heavy odds on with bookmakers as well. Sad he is still fighting nearly 3 years later.
