Joshua vs. Takam: Scorecards

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Two of the three judges' scorecards prove that Takam did indeed win one round, with both Pawel Kardyni and Michael Alexander giving Joshua a 89-81 advantage by the time the stoppage arrived, while Ron McNair saw it as a perfect 90-80 evening for the champion.

I'm not sure which rounds, I believe would have been either 7 or 8.. If anyone has the official scorecards round by round, if you could post it, i'd appreciate it..

Anyone else score the fight? Give Takam any rounds?

RD1: Joshua 10-9 Takam
RD2: Joshua 10-9 Takam
RD3: Joshua 10-9 Takam
RD4: Joshua 10-8 Takam
RD5: Joshua 10-9 Takam
RD6: Joshua 10-9 Takam
RD7: Joshua 9-10 Takam
RD8: Joshua 10-9 Takam
RD9: Joshua 9-10 Takam

TOTAL: 88-82 FOR JOSHUA

You have left out the KD.

If they scored it 89-81 after 9 with one of those being a 10-8 then they gave takam one round and a share of another.

You're right, I was copying it from my phone, but it would still total 88-82 ...

Yeh, I think they might have given an even round 3.. Usually Hearn releases the scorecard sheets..

EDIT!

They wouldn't have score any rounds even actually. I just worked it out, my scorecard I have Takam 2 rounds, reverse that and give 1 of Takam's rounds to Joshua, it would be 89-81

89-81 comes about thus.

Joshua 8x10 1x9
Takam 1x10 7x9 1x8

Your right they gave takam one round.

It was probably Round 9. Which is the only one I gave Takam. Which makes the stoppage in Round 10 worse.

My point.. with this logic.. Joshua should have lost to Wlad in round 6 or 7.. but the referee let him continue.. Takam was a good mover, kept his headmovement going..

you could clearly score the 9th for him. maybe the 7th too. he just had his best round and was doing his best work over the last few rounds. the trajectory wasnt of him fading and being worn down.

Even though the score cards read badly for Takam you have to feel sorry for him. His only chance was to take it late and put it on Joshua and see how his engine held up. Ref took it away from him

Our refs are too trigger happy. I understand we’ve had some recent tragedies in this country though

ya but thing i dont get is if you have tragedy in your mind why stop then after takams probably had his best stretch of the fight from round 7-9 and gotten through tougher moments earlier. its not like eubank-blackwell or groves-gutnechkt where things just got worse and worse for the injured boxer. aj well ahead but to me it smelt of 'cant have him lose that ko record' rather than 'cant have takam in a coma''

Yeah I agree mate. I don’t think the result was affected but it’s now how we want to see fights end

Yeh, AJ was slowing and Takam was showinh a good chin.. he was not going to be dropped. Phil Edwards robbed Takam of being the first pro boxer to go the distance with AJ, even if he was going to lose..

i mean it wasnt a sure thing that josh wouldnt have gotten a legit ko, but i personally didnt really think he was on the verge of it despite some suggestions that he was. at worst takam was slightly hurt and he did well avoiding the follow up. hed been through worse when aj had more energy and takam was having his best series of rounds in the fight.

Yeh, and Froch was backing the stoppage so
It made his stoppage win vs. Groves I look minor..

It definately wasn't the case of letting Takam 'live to fight another day', it was a crap case of keeping AJ's 100% KO record alive.. I have a feeling they going to use that as long as they can.. many feel AJ-Wlad stoppage was premature aswel.

I have nothing against AJ, I am a fan.. but I am also a fan of this once great sport..

I agree, when I say the result wasn’t in doubt I meant the W, not the method of getting the W.

Shame, going the distance is still an achievement really

The groves stoppage was dreadful as well. Pissed me off no end. Froch will always back referees following that fight.

I think the Wlad stoppage was ok though

Yeh you could argue.. also Wlad was bever going to win a decision after that round, due to it being 10-7 round for Joshua at least..

People can try dress it up differently, but it was pure and simple home-town reffing.

Takam deserved better, the paying public deserved better. Takam knows the risks involved and was the first to complain about the stoppage.

The british scene is a joke with its lop-sided score cards. Yes the right man still wins most of the time ... but coming to fight in the UK knowing the only way you can win is by knockout, completely changes the mind-set and tactics for a fighter. you have to win by 3 rounds to get a draw.

Michalczewski always used to benefit from this.... fighters knew there was no way they would get a decision, so had to go hell for leather and try knock him out, invariably leading to them shooting their bolt too early, whilst Michalczewski rode out the storm and finished strong for a late stoppage.
