Fury vs. Joshia is like Rumble in the Jungle, says Tyson Fury
Tyson Fury believes a bout between himself and Anthony Joshua would resemble Muhammad Ali's 'Rumble in the Jungle' with George Foreman.
A number of personal issues have kept Fury on the sidelines since November 2015, when he defeated Wladimir Klitschko for the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles, and he remains without a boxing licence.
In his absence fellow Brit Joshua has emerged as the dominant force in boxing's blue riband division, capturing the WBA and IBF crowns and stopping all 20 of his professional opponents.
A bout between the unbeaten pair continues to gather momentum and Fury believes Joshua is a comparable figure to Foreman, a much-feared fighter who had 37 knockout wins in 40 fights prior to facing Ali in Zaire in October 1974.
Fury takes inspiration from Ali, who was stripped of the heavyweight title and was exiled from boxing for three years after refusing to be drafted in the US Army for the Vietnam War before returning to defeat Foreman in one of boxing's biggest upset wins.

Could be possibly a stoppage.. You can imagine, around 7th or 8th round, AJ getting little tired, sloppy.. and out of nowhere Fury lands a few hard shots and AJ stumbles accross the ring, falling down.. I can imagine that.. He could just fall how Lewis fell when Rahman knocked him out.
Re: Fury vs. Joshia is like Rumble in the Jungle, says Tyson Fury
..I kinda fail to see clear parallels between Rumble in the Jungle and Tyson vs Joshua situation..

ive always thought with AJ tiring Tyson could get him out of there with a well timed and placed body shotRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑31 Oct 2017, 11:23

Fury didn t fight in about 2 years now and because of his lifestyle he won t ever be back to the shape he was. Joshua knocks him out cold inside 6. He won t be has slick and was never a good chin.

ffs all the fat man does these days is talk and eat
aj would steamroll fury. fury has gone to waste. even if we assume the absolute best fury aj kos him. only thing is i notice aj isnt quite as aggressive as he was earlier on and it may allow this hypothetical back to his best fury to win an early round or two and make it to the second half. BEST case scenario though. fury doesnt have the power to hold him off and win.

At the moment it would be more like Bumble with the Humble.
If Tyson can get back on track it would be great. Like or loathe him. After Parker Wilder and maybe Miller and Pulev, who is left for AJ anyway? That's only a year and a half worth of fights for a guy who is 28. After that is is rematch time. A fit Tyson has a place in HW boxing.

Doubt fury gets him out if there, lesser fighters than Joshua hear the final bell, he’s simply not powerful enough or attacking enough
His only method to victory is to stay out of harms way and stay in the fight and then late on he might have better output. He knows 12 rounds better than Joshua, and probably has a better engine
The likely result is Joshua stops him though

He's obviously only motivated by money. He said he was retired and now it's on like Donkey Kong according to him. He has to get in shape. He can't look like a sumo wrestler.
Re: Fury vs. Joshia is like Rumble in the Jungle, says Tyson Fury
The disregard for Tyson skills comes from his fight with Wlad where not much happened as it takes two to tango in addition to Tyson's command of distance and faints nullifying Wlad's normal game plan. Ignored are his previous fights and the skills he displayed. Basically he out-boxed Wlad (subtly and "boringly") then two years later Wlad was out-boxing AJ for a large portion of the fight. Its interesting comparing this potential fight but imo the actual fight is not the hardest thing for Tyson. It just seems he has significant mental health. Training consistently, public perception and how sensitive he is to it, fame, infamy, motivation, its not just simple boxing for a couple of rounds, he would need to be focused for months. If there were consistent videos of him in the gym, if he looked in decent condition then I would think he might make a comeback but there's not and its the same story. AJ gets a win and a headline, more respect, fame and money then Tyson try's to shoot him down verbally and challenges him.....again. He's affected by AJ and doesn't seem comfortable with his decision to retire...again. Very up and down.....mental health.

Fury's prancing around and flinching and arms behind his back antics won't work against AJ like it did against a Wlad unwilling to throw anything. AJ will actually be throwing punches. Fury being too rangy for AJ (as a lot of fans keep saying) doesn't apply in this case after all the damage and inactivity Fury has done to his body. Also his chin isn't great, so to the people saying he'd get AJ out of there late... nope. Other way around.
Re: Fury vs. Joshia is like Rumble in the Jungle, says Tyson Fury
If he was motivated only by money wouldn't he have gone through with the Klitschko rematch?
A peak Tyson Fury against AJ would have been very interesting indeed, but I can see AJ blasting out the probably 2018/2019 version. I hope I'm wrong and that he can shed all the extra weight and get back to where he once was.

If you believe anything he’s ever said in the past, it’s not money that’s motivated him

Tyson Fury’s style is very unorthodox and part of the reason why Wladimir refrained from throwing shots was because he couldn’t get himself into range.SpliffTannen wrote: ↑01 Nov 2017, 03:19Fury's prancing around and flinching and arms behind his back antics won't work against AJ like it did against a Wlad unwilling to throw anything. Most professionally trained fighters don’t throw speculative shots at thin air.
Also, AJ continues to gain weight after each and every single bout he competes in. Hearn, McCracken and Joshua himself were targeting a weight in the region of 236lbs for his next outing after victory over Klitschko, but last Saturday he was at his career-heaviest and also about 18lbs above his self-proclaimed target.
This weight is likely to have been the main cause for AJ’s own lower than normal workload, especially his use of the jab occasionally dipped against Takam… and he struggled to cut the ring off also. Joshua can’t fight that way against Fury or he’ll get comprehensively out-boxed.
Tyson Fury is still in his twenties and continues to spar, despite being significantly overweight.SpliffTannen wrote: ↑01 Nov 2017, 03:19Fury being too rangy for AJ (as a lot of fans keep saying) doesn't apply in this case after all the damage and inactivity Fury has done to his body. He has youth on his side to be considered capable of making a successful ring return, as long as he loses the weight in a healthy manner, trains correctly and his comeback schedule is tailored appropriately.
I’ll concede that this is easier said than done.

I think the fact AJ stays in the gym and takes his profession seriously and is also young, will be the determining factor IF it's Fury's first fight back instead of some "warm up" bouts.
I think Fury gets way too much praise based off that Wlad fight, which lets me honest, was absolutely horrible. People were just so excited and happy to see Wlad's reign come to an end. Wasn't even THAT decisive. It was quite the joke.

To be fair, whilst I expected Klitschko to emerge victorious against Fury, I sincerely believed that the Ukraine would face a monumental struggle against the Brit. And it came to no surprise to me to witness the upset. I can prove this by quoting some of my old posts.SpliffTannen wrote: ↑01 Nov 2017, 07:13I think Fury gets way too much praise based off that Wlad fight, which lets me honest, was absolutely horrible. Tyson Fury was also deeply impressive against Dereck Chisora in their rematch and Emanuel Steward predicted in 2012 that he’d eventually become a world champion… a dominant figure in the heavyweight scene… and even repeated this assertion during multiple interviews.
Manny knew Fury, he stayed with him and he had Tyson together with Klitschko during training camp, with other top heavyweights… and he claimed that the ‘Gypsy King’ was incredibly “tough”… “maybe even the toughest”.
I do think that Tyson Fury is the real deal… or at least he used to be. Who knows whether he’s able to recapture his form of old?
The betting odds sensibly favour AJ to tarnish Fury’s currently unbeaten record, but I see fewer flaws in a prime version of Tyson than the current iteration of Joshua we witnessed against Takam.
For the record, in terms of their pugilistic abilities, I’m a fan of both fighters. From purely a sporting perspective, I don’t really have a proverbial “horse” in this “race”.
Re: Fury vs. Joshia is like Rumble in the Jungle, says Tyson Fury
Until he proves to everyone he can actually get it all together and fight, Fury is insignificant and a waste of time talking about.

Except Joshua would beat him.
Re: Fury vs. Joshia is like Rumble in the Jungle, says Tyson Fury
Fury wants the big money and the big fights. He did not want to fight Klitschko in the rematch. He knew he was going to lose. Klitschko was more prepared and he was used to Fury's mind games. After Joshua did not have an overly impressive performance against Takam, now Wilder, Parker, and Fury think they can beat Joshua.
