Neither Wilder or Stiverne Should Be Paid

Post by Taansend »

Stiverne was f*cking disgusting. He's in worse shape than I am & I'm an almost 50 year old pisshead.

I like Wilder and that was his best performance so far but the way he treated the Ref at the end was shite. He should be fined. You don't treat the Ref like that.

But back to my serious head. Wilder did look much better than usual although the silly c*nt is now thanking one of the gods for his victory. I think he's talking about Ganesh :maybe:

I was just thinking that I was in better shape than the bloated corpse of Stiverne and I'm ten years older.
He looked worse than he did at the weigh in. It wasn't even a fight, it was the worst HW title fight since ( please insert fight, I'm blank)

It was pathetic. Wilder did look better than I've seen him but............... he was fighting a fat, semi retired bloke with a giant liquorice on his head.

Wilder did look good, but it is easy to look good when your opponent is slow moving and does not hit back. I admit most HW's would have gone down with that first straight right, but most HW's would have avoided it, it was telegraphed. Can you imagine say Takem getting hit with it? I can't.

Why should Wilder not be paid for steamrolling a fat opponent? He didn't disrespect the referee at all. He was aggressively attacking Stiverne, and it was hard for the ref to pull him off because he was in attack mode, but he didn't do anything physically to the ref.

You guys are being really stupid about this fight.

Nope. You're being stupid about me being stupid. In fact, you're being stupider :OhYes:

As you can see from the original post it was tongue in cheek about him not being paid. He was out of order to the Ref though. Watch it again. He'd already turned his back & was still being a dick to the Ref.

I was upset at the condition Stiverne came to the fight in. The ref shennagins is par for the course and no one got hurt. As for them getting paid or not, nah, I don't care. If I had to PPV the fight I would have been more peeved at Stiverne for coming in fat.
The main event held little interest for me anyway. It was forgone the result, it just came sooner and more exciting than I thought.

But even after the finish he was still being a dick. Fighters have to respect the Ref. Otherwise, let's do away with Refs.

How was he being a dick? By being excited? What do you want them to do take a point away from him for aggressively going for the finish and being hype about it?

I have trouble ranking Wilder as #2 because of his resume. It seems the logical position but as has been said, Stiverne is still his best win regardless how badly he beat him this time around. One win against anyone in the top 6 and for sure he slots in at #2. For now he is the great unknown. Stunning puncher for sure! Exciting fighter- you bet!
World #2? I need more convincing evidence

He went beyond excited. He was deliberately trying to disrespect the Ref. It was AFTER the fight had finished.

He should take the Ref out for a drink, or preferably a meal. Somewhere nice. With a valet. And then say "Sorry".

Failing that a $100,000 fine should suffice with half going to the Ref.

FOR WHAT? He didn't do anything!!!!

Hell I give Wilder sh*t all the time on here, but you're being completely ridiculous on this "He was a d*ck to the ref" thing. He did nothing at all. I guarantee you the Ref ain't even thinking about it right now so why are you?

Fair comment. Joshua has had half the fights but you could argue that he's beaten 3 or 4 better fighters than Wilder.

You couldn't argue the other way around.

But this fight is HOT. It's a hotter fight in the UK where boxing means something. It makes sense to have it there. I'd rather it was here in the US though.

If I walked up to 100 random Americans & said "Tell me about Deontay Wilder" I doubt if 10 could tell me anything, And I doubt if 5 could tell me more than "I think he's a boxer".

If someone in the UK did the same with Joshua though at least half would know who he was.

But I just hope it gets made.

Ya know what forget it. That poor ref. Maybe we should call in the National Guard to make sure Wilder doesn't flail his arms around excitedly next time...would that make ya feel better?

No. There's no need for the National Guard. You're over-reacting. Just some civility would be a nice gesture. He's won the fight. No need to rough house the Ref.

For sure that's a possibility. That first right hand would have knocked anyone down, if not out altogether. It's whether he could land it flush on a live opponent or not is the question.

He definitely looked a lot sharper, and more accurate with his punches tonight than he's looked in the past, but again that could all be smoke and mirrors a bit because Stiverne was basically a sitting duck in there.
