Who wins - AJ v Wilder - New Poll (Nov '17)
Who wins - AJ v Wilder - New Poll (Nov '17)
I have set up a new poll for this as the re-using of old polls by Weeshaw can be quite frustrating. The results are not up to date as things change and I thought It would be useful to take a look at current thoughts on the back of their recent fights and not from December 2016 like the original poll. Weeshaw argues that people can change their vote but that is naively stupid. I did not know that was possible, many others may be the same, some people who voted may have left the forum, may be dead, may not read the thread etc so it will always be skewed and not show accurate up to date thoughts.
(if this was a bad idea, I apologise and will not do it again)

Alternatively, if you want to change your mind and your vote the poll is still open and will stay open until fight night in the original thread here -

Re: Who wins - AJ v Wilder - New Poll (Nov '17)
For me there is a question mark over the chin of Wilder simply as it has not been tested properly. It may be fine, it may not. I think the result may come down to that and if it holds up, I think he may take AJ. Hits hard enough, wild enough to throw all sorts of bombs at AJ which are hard to defnd against so one will get through and when Josh gets hurt, his recovery takes literally rounds. He flattens out and stamina and fitness seems to fail him and if Wilder can maintain a pace then he could hurt him then finish the job.
AJ needs to stop whatever he is doing which is piling on the muscle as it is a clear hindrance. That was obvious after the Wlad fight and instead he piled on more.

I'd still pick AJ but not with any certainty ,I just can't see the skinny wilder taking AJs shots but Wilder has the power to hurt AJ and better stamina but AJ is the better boxer .

Folks picking Wilder need to ease off the drugs. Yes, Deontay has power, but he is so disorganised and those shots are being winged from the Moon. Joshua keeps a tight defence and walks through him with straight shots. And no, there is no speed advantage for Wilder.
Re: Who wins - AJ v Wilder - New Poll (Nov '17)
In the run up to elections they do a new poll daily, hourly in fact as they need to know what people think today, based on up to date facts. Using old ones with people being able to change their minds is completely inaccurate. Are you this stupid? Really?wesshaw1985 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 08:51 Alternatively, if you want to change your mind and your vote the poll is still open and will stay open until fight night in the original thread here -

And the week after that?
Or how about a Dec '17 new poll?
Alternatively, just use this thread if you like -

Re: Who wins - AJ v Wilder - New Poll (Nov '17)
Last night doesn't change anything for me. I'm not big into conspiracy theories but I've read enough about corruption in boxing through years to not think I need to build myself a tin foil hat for my belief that Wilder is as manufactured as they come: the soft, shot opponents. The competitive fights that fall through because the other guy fails his test. I think Malik Scott took a dive. I think Stiverme threw both his fights.
It's not completely mental to think this. This kind of thing has always happened. Maybe less so these days, but certainly it still goes on.
I still think Joshua does him in.

Not each week no, but things are different today than a year ago, opinions may have altered with more evidence being presented. How can you not grasp that?wesshaw1985 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 09:15Are you starting a new poll next week then?tobyh5 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 09:07wesshaw1985 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 08:51 Alternatively, if you want to change your mind and your vote the poll is still open and will stay open until fight night in the original thread here -

Re: Who wins - AJ v Wilder - New Poll (Nov '17)
I don't buy the Stiverne threw his fights line. He had more than enough opportunity in the first to go down and stay down but he kept coming back. Last night he looked like exactly what he is: old, fat, way past his best, a late replacement and probably just there for a payday.
Re: Who wins - AJ v Wilder - New Poll (Nov '17)
He didn't even look to hurt Wilder last night, though. It was almost akin to AJ vs Martin, only Martin showed marginally more desire to win. stiverne didn't want a fight he wanted a pay check.dirk2686 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 09:47 I don't buy the Stiverne threw his fights line. Tough call.
If Joshua gets caught or gasses I don't think Wilder will let him recover.
Might be one that could happen 20 times, and you still couldn't call the 21st

Joshua will smash Wilder IMO.
See the way he swings?
He threw the ref off him there and the ref nearly kicked Stirvene in the head when he was down because of it. I understand he was pumped up, but have some decency.

Perhaps, heavyweight is unpredictable, especially when you have 2 guys with the power of Joshua and Wilder.
It may be hard to call a winner but I'd guestimate that after 20 fights, the record would read something like 15-1-4 in Joshuas favour

I hate to see referees jumping in between fighters and wrestling them apart, the ref should shout 'stop boxing' and that's enough, anyone who continues to throw punches or drags the ref around like Wilder did last night should be thrown out.

The ref jumped on Wilder he turned quickly and walked away. He did nothing wrong. The ref had a laugh about it

I know he didn't do anything wrong,i'm just saying things should change so the ref doesn't have to wrestle them,he should be able to command them to stop verbally.
Re: Who wins - AJ v Wilder - New Poll (Nov '17)
I only watched it on YouTube but wasn't fight over as soon as Stiverne hit the floor? Was three knockdown rule in force? If it was, you cannot disqualify after a fight has ended
Re: Who wins - AJ v Wilder - New Poll (Nov '17)
That's fine for last night but talk of him throwing the first fight are obviously stupidclopixolacuphase wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 10:05He didn't even look to hurt Wilder last night, though. Re: Who wins - AJ v Wilder - New Poll (Nov '17)
I'm still going with Joshua. I don't discount Wilder's punchers chance, but I think Joshua has the more refined skill set, and would get to Wilder before Wilder got to him.
Re: Who wins - AJ v Wilder - New Poll (Nov '17)
I think Wilder's jab may be a bit quicker than AJ's, at least early doors, but his inability to put more than two punches together without morphing into a giant Carlos Maussa is going to lead to some serious carnage on the counter from AJ. Basically unless he does AJ early with one of those nuclear 1-2s I don't see how Wilder avoids a kicking.

I’d favour Joshua in this one.
Potentially both carry enough power to smoke the other but I think Wilder is made to order for Joshua and he will end up a highlight reel KO
