He got step aside money AND getting your ass kicked money as I understand it. Because he'd already taken step aside money like a month ago.

Anyone not turning up with a pair of man tits would have automatically bettered Stiverne last night.

I've had 5 heart attacks and triple by pass surgery in the last 15 months. I still would of thrown more than 4 punches before dying in the first 30 seconds.

Well I'm a sixty year old office worker who is too fond of ale and curry and not fond enough of serious physical exertion.
So no i wouldn't have done any better than Bermane Stiverne, there again I'd probably not have done very much worse. The record would show the same result whichever of os had fought Wilder,

Re: Would you have done better than Bermane?
The thing is...you shouldn't get into a ring for any fight without training seriously for it...much less a World Heavyweight Championship Fight... Is this a joke??? Are you Buster Douglas??? Or Tyson Fury??? ... You need to train for the fight of your life if you get a Title Shot.. Millions of people will end up watching the fight and 100 years from today people will be watching the fight on whatever website is more popular than youtube.
I don't know what motivates some Heavyweights to do what they do... I was a Heavyweight but it seems like more Heavyweights fuk up worse than anybody else... Fat, sloppy, poorly trained, could GAF less what anyone thinks... Do they feel privileged??? Special??? WTF is the problem?

Re: Would you have done better than Bermane?
Bermane got extremely well paid for less than three minutes of suffering. He was probably wondering what would be the pointing of training hard for the sole purpose of prolonging his misery in the ring. Let's face it he didn't come close to winning last time when he was younger and in shape, what chance would he have this time?
He got his purse plus step-aside money without having had to do any work for two years. Hopefully he now disappears into the sunset and we never have to endure the prospect of him "fighting" again ... unless of course the WBC figure he's done enough that they should make it a trilogy

I don't think he got that.gilgamesh wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 15:57He got step aside money AND getting your ass kicked money as I understand it. Because he'd already taken step aside money like a month ago.

So they took back the step aside check when Ortiz tested positive?SaadOffTheDeck wrote: ↑06 Nov 2017, 04:06I don't think he got that.

It really narks me when top professional boxers turn up in that sort of condition.
Stiverne had no excuse to be in that condition because he was always on the bill anyway.
Boxing is the loneliest & hardest sport there is & the so-called HW Championship of the World is supposedly the biggest prize in sport, yet Stiverne thinks it's OK to turn up with love handles & man tits to challenge for this prize?
If it is OK to do this, you could trawl your average building site & pub to find a suitable challenger for the so-called HW Championship of the World.
Re: Would you have done better than Bermane?
Haye-Harrison, possibly.
Re: Would you have done better than Bermane?
Professional sport is an entertainment business. It's like saying why should Frank Sinatra bother rehearsing for a farewell concert. You rehearse, or train, because people are paying to watch you and you owe it to them to give your best performance.candyslim wrote: ↑06 Nov 2017, 04:05 Bermane got extremely well paid for less than three minutes of suffering. Re: Would you have done better than Bermane?
Harrison made it into the 3rd though didn't he? Surely he at least threw more punches than Stiverne did. I never saw that one actually, but I know what went down...never really felt the need to seek out the fight. Didn't sound like it was much of onegp. wrote: ↑10 Nov 2017, 11:21Haye-Harrison, possibly.
Re: Would you have done better than Bermane?
According to the stats he threw a few punches; but I can't remember any that even looked close to landing. And that was with two rounds where Haye was patently not trying at all. I mean, literally not making any attempt to do anything - he looked like he was scared to throw anything for fear of Harrison going down immediately. Supposedly on account of having told his friends to bet on KO3, but I couldn't possibly comment on that.gilgamesh wrote: ↑10 Nov 2017, 11:37Harrison made it into the 3rd though didn't he? The fact of it going on longer did actually make it seem more one sided, as Harrison had every chance to do something, but didn't. If Stiverne had been gifted two rounds with no attack from Wilder, he would probably have at least made some effort to hit him.

Harrison only made it to the 3rd round because Haye let him.gilgamesh wrote: ↑10 Nov 2017, 11:37Harrison made it into the 3rd though didn't he? Haye said after the fight that he had a bet on the 3rd, hence why he carried Harrison.
From what I can remember, Harrison landed one jab all fight.
