Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
Stupid poll but this forum kinda has a few of them.
I want to know if it is just me who is getting fed up with Wesshaw continuously resurrecting old polls after new events and situation happen which could have a bearing on your opinion on something. Example is one which is a year old on AJ v Wilder. They have both fought a couple times since, a lot has changed so opinions MAY have changed and I'd like to know what people today think via a poll but bringing the old one out of cobwebs does not do that. I look at the percentages but do not know if people are sticking with that, changing their mind, if it is people no longer on the forum, dead, not aware they can change their mind etc. So I cannot say to my mates "On my forum, we now think X will win" as no possible way of knowing from an old thread.
He also uses old threads and changes their titles to become round by round which ends up with a ton of messy threads. Can we just please have some clean threads which are current and up to date please.
Maybe this is me being a bit precious and I am not intending to upset anyone (apart from Wes), just thought I would throw this up to see what others posters thing. My opinion, ruining the forum to a degree with the confusion and lack of clarity

Re: Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
A poll about a poll, only on boxrec.
Re: Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
The irony is not lost on me mate, but I feel the whole forum is becoming really scrappy and untidy with all these old polls being resurrected so was hoping a result of this one may be a chance to tidy the whole place up

Re: Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
I'd rather new polls.
I understand the argument that people can just change their votes but that's unlikely to happen.
My main frustration though is that the thread will be used until the fight happens and will then likely be changed to a RBR and we're starting off on page 16 before the fight actually starts! It's then a pain having to find the right page.

Re: Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
Main issue for me is not reading 10 pages from 2015 to get to the new relevant info
He needs a ban on starting, changing titles & bumping threads
Or just a ban

I voted don’t care, but if I had to yes or no I’d say keep the old threads in the past

I fully agree all these polls and scrappy.
So without me starting a new poll
Should I remove this topic
Yes
No
Over to you!
If I get 5 yeses its gone.
Re: Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
Mimmy, serious question mate, can something not be done to stop Wes continuously doing this please? It is weakening the forum and your job as a mod is also to keep the flow of it working

To be honest it doesnt bother me, if I dont want to look at a topic I wont.tobyh5 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 14:59Mimmy, serious question mate, can something not be done to stop Wes continuously doing this please? It is weakening the forum and your job as a mod is also to keep the flow of it working
Its not the end of the world really. But ill ask opinion in the mod section and see what others think.
Re: Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
I think Wes is alright and a good contributor but it's a pain in the arse and hard to keep a track of! He should give it a by but I think he keeps doing it to wind certain folk up. Either that or he's just a stubborn fukkertobyh5 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 14:59Mimmy, serious question mate, can something not be done to stop Wes continuously doing this please? Wes’s particular ‘style’ has been complained about on numerous occasions by many different posters, so am surprised the mods haven’t discussed it before tbh.mimmy123 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 15:00To be honest it doesnt bother me, if I dont want to look at a topic I wont.

It’s the constant changing of thread titles that really pisses me off. Wes will start one of his many ‘who wins’ threads, update the same thread when the fight is actually announced, update the same thread if one of the boxers change, and then eventually update the same thread to include the RBR, by which point we’re usually 22 pages deep and have lost any semblance of what the original thread was supposed to be about.
Would be great if he could be stopped from doing it

Ive discussed it with another mod and while we dont see any laws being broken we are going to monitor the situation. Obviously we dont want any inhouse fighting and people starting to attack each other verbally so we will keep an eye on the matter. I'm sure Wes will read this topic at some point when he checks in and maybe reevaluate how he does his polls.
Hopefully this will rectify itself before any action is take.
Re: Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
To be honest that was one of the points of this silly poll I made - it annoys me and is spoiling the forum little bit for me and I want to see if it is just me being over sensitive and if it wasn't was hoping that he will take it on board if he saw other people felt the same way. Surely no one would deliberately want to be doing things to make them a bit disliked. I have done some stupid ass stuff here which in my head was dry, banter, sarcastic but came out wrong so am more careful now to think how my words may be read, not just how I intend them for example
Re: Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
Does he do it so he's first in line to change it to a RBR?
Fury v TBA in 3 years will be a RBR

Re: Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
I personally like to save polls for controversial decisions like "Who do you think won?" type things.
I also do one every month to decide Fight of the Month, Fighter of the Month etc.
But not on here.

Re: Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
if people vote for Wilder today and change their minds tomorrow do we get to start a new thread again or do we have to wait for the Dec '17 edition of WHO WINS? Wilder vs. Joshua?
Re: Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
Don't be stupid, no one is suggesting that. A week later, a standard month later, no need for a new poll. 12 months later and a few fights later and clearly there is. I used to think you were a decent contributor like Stuarty said but am just thinking you are just a bit of an idiot now with this continuous stupidity and lack of logical thought.wesshaw1985 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 16:38 if people vote for Wilder today and change their minds tomorrow do we get to start a new thread again or do we have to wait for the Dec '17 edition of WHO WINS? seems to me today you have added 2 unnecessary threads to a forum you already believe to be clogged, you are the problem not the solution my friend.tobyh5 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 16:55Don't be stupid, no one is suggesting that. I voted "No" by the way
Re: Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
You're right. When I click on a round-by-round it's bloody irritating to find that it was originally a 'Who Wins' topic. When I click on a RBR I want to see just the lead up on the night and then the RBRs. I like to see the ebb and flow of opinion and observation from the night of the fight. I don't want to see outdated discussions.tobyh5 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 14:04 Stupid poll but this forum kinda has a few of them.

What is the point??
Re: Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
You're missing the point. I click on topics I want to read and I don't want to read irrelevant/outdated chat.mimmy123 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 15:00To be honest it doesnt bother me, if I dont want to look at a topic I wont.

It should be simple common sense: create a new topic for RBR's. When polls are outdated start a new one etc...

It's not an unnecessary thread if the situation is rectified.wesshaw1985 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 16:59seems to me today you have added 2 unnecessary threads to a forum you already believe to be clogged, you are the problem not the solution my friend.tobyh5 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 16:55Don't be stupid, no one is suggesting that. Why do you bump threads like this anyway?
Re: Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
I'm all for bumping old threads. I try and do it myself if I think something has been discussed previously.
It's the title changes that bother me particularly when it's v tba then the fight is announced and you have to jump X amount of pages to see posts about the actual fight.
Should only be mods changing titles IMO if it's a spelling error in the title.
I'm all for polls just keep it to fights which are actually happening or likely to soon.

Re: Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
I understand what you are saying. Just because I dont want to look at some posts doesnt mean others wont want to. What im saying is that it doesnt bother me. im not suggesting these issues dont bother other readers.Dixonian wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 17:20You're missing the point. What im hoping is that people will look at how they make polls and topics and maybe not change the subject title as and when it pleases. I suggest make a poll and when that subject matter has run its course leave it in the vault. Let the topic go and make another one to replace it thats more upto date and relevant from the start.
I just dont want to get too zealous and just start deleting posts willy nilly.
I suggest everyone looks at how they put up polls and thinks about not changing the title to suit, or to troll, or to wind people up.

Re: Poll on new polls or keeping old ones
Bumping old posts is ok in my opinion if the subject matter is still relevant, but i do get that changing the title and people looking on page 1 of 10 to find the actual subject is not on page 1 but 10.Naandrew wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 17:27 I'm all for bumping old threads. I would like to think people who make polls and posts have read this post and tend to agree with whats been said about changing the subject title.
