Artur Beterbiev vs Enrico Koelling

Post by handsofstone »

For the vacant IBF Light Heavyweight title this Saturday on allegedly, same as the Bivol/Broadhurst fight last week this has a feel of inevitably to it, seems only a matter of time before Beterbiev wins a world title and I cant see Koelling giving him any problems, ive seen Koelling on a few German cards over the years, cant say I remember much though, no stand out names on his record

Betrbiev hasn't fought since he KO'd Prieto in a round nearly a year ago, his opposition has slid since the early wins against Cloud and Campillo, I think he looks a bit plodding and basic, Ward would've boxed circles around him but his power is frightening, he's knocked out everyone he's fought so far, top 5 P4P puncher in boxing right now i'd say, cant see Koelling winning this in a million years, he might be able to box Beterbiev for a couple of rounds whilst Beterbiev stalks him but eventually Betrbiev will nail him in about the 4th and it'll be curtains

Massive shame how Beterbiev has been slowed down in the last 2 years. Has he signed with Top Rank now? Hopefully they can keep him more active.

Beterbiev is in the same category as Gassiev for me, exciting with a likeable style, but easy to box. I see Breidis & Usyk above Gassiev and I see Gvodzyk & Kovalev above Beterbiev, but hey, might be wrong, I just wanna see these fights.

Beterbiev can't be held back after this.

He needs the legit fights straight away.

The Kovalev fight is a must. As far as I'm aware there is legit beef between the two of them which goes back to the amateur days.

Is this the most certain KO of the year?

Beterbiev will win this early.

I still think he will struggle if someone takes him late. Koelling isn’t that guy though.

no it was a boring fight, beterbiev very one dimensional and koelling just trying to survive from the first round. as the kraut tired from all that running, beterbiev started launching his bratwursts with full power and the ref stepped in to stop it.

best part of the night was teddy atlas' commentary. he was arguing with everything the other two said. he said it was an early stoppage when it was a clear stoppage. basically he was being a complete tool. but it took the emphasis away from a dull fight.

I guess we never truly know, as obvious as it looks.

Fairplay though he didn't get out of first and won a world title.

Historically awful, he kept arguing with the other commentator and screaming. Ramirez looked better than Beterbiev.

Not seen anything of the card yet. I hear that Ramirez is a huge ticket seller though. He's due to fight Amir Imam for the wbc 140 title early next year. I'll definitely watch that

Thought the ref was a bit quick to stop that, not that it would've mattered but shades of Joshua/Takam where the ref was desperate to preserve the perfect KO streak, Beterbiev was dominant but one paced right up until the last round, the fight was a snoozer, Koelling did have moments where he looked like he was trying to force something and he did have a couple of moments but for the most part Beterbiev walked forward and bullied him

The commentary was diabolical, especially Atlas

From what I saw against koelling, Bivol hands beterbiev a proper beating

The commentary by Atlas was so awful I actually would have preferred to be listening to Adam Smith
