I mean it was a real fight. Stiverne just wasn't the least bit prepared to win it or even be competitive in it. Didn't look like he'd trained at all.

He didn't train because he's a lazy fighter. That's why he's never been impressive, and that's why he wasn't impressive now. This ain't some huge win for Wilder by any means, but it wasn't a fixed fight because why the hell would anybody bother fixing a fight involving Bermane f*cking Stiverne? It's not like he's a world beater or ever was.

Just arranging this so called championship fight and advertising it as some big showdown or something was a fix in and of itself.
Re: Wilder scores a spectacular first round KO victory over top challenger Stiverne!!!
Wasn't like it was some huge turnout, and I'll bet the TV ratings won't be anything too big either. It was a sh*t challenger like always. Story of Wilder's entire title reign. What else is new?

After the fight Don King was quoted as saying "Bermaine was in the shape of his life" just before his caregiver stepped in and upped his meds

Yeah, he has slid almost into obscurity now. And I think Stiverne is done, I can't even see him being an effective gatekeeper at 39 years old.gilgamesh wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 01:33
Don King doesn't exactly have much of a stable anymore so he has to talk up the few guys he still has![]()

a defence against Miller (if Miller convincingly ko's Wach) would be ok.
Other than that there is no one in WBC bullshit rankings...and only a unification against Parker would be acceptable.

Or vice versa. Now that - Wach-Miller - unlike the nonsense today - is a heavyweight fight that interests me. Dont worry, though, Wilder won't go near the winner of that one. His handlers want to cash out with Joshua

Andy Ruiz would be acceptable, but he should go for Parker.funso banjo baby wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 04:25 a defence against Miller (if Miller convincingly ko's Wach) would be ok.

Whyte is crap but maybe he should just get through that to make the Joshua fight bigger.
Re: Wilder scores a spectacular first round KO victory over top challenger Stiverne!!!
Andy Ruiez is in almost the same boat as Stiverne except for age. He is overweight and hasn't fought since his loss to Parker. Plus he is small. It would be crazy to put him in there with Wilder.BitPlayer wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 05:09Andy Ruiz would be acceptable, but he should go for Parker.funso banjo baby wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 04:25 a defence against Miller (if Miller convincingly ko's Wach) would be ok.

It is not like there is no good opponents out there. There is plenty...
Good opponents would be...
Joshua, Pulev, Povetkin, Haye, Ortiz, Parker and Takam
Acceptable opponents for in between defense would be...
Whyte, Chisora, Browne, Ruiz, Hammer and maybe Mansour.
There is really no excuses to fight guys like ancient Arreola, Szpilka and Molina.

Considering Parker barely beat Ruiz if at all, if Parker is decent, Ruiz is acceptable.KiwiRider wrote: ↑05 Nov 2017, 06:15Andy Ruiez is in almost the same boat as Stiverne except for age. Re: Wilder scores a spectacular first round KO victory over top challenger Stiverne!!!
I think Chisora has dropped below gatekeeper status. Whyte isn't much better. Ruiz would be good if he got in shape for once. Miller would be ok too. I would love to see Parker vs Wilder. Wilder would be smart to do a 50/50 purse so it would get the fight done. Even go down under to fight. It would make an eventual AJ fight even bigger than it is. If he wins, that is.

Chisora would still be destroy Stiverne within 3, despite he doesn't have a good KO rating.Badhusker wrote: ↑06 Nov 2017, 08:53 I think Chisora has dropped below gatekeeper status. Charlie beat Wilder, according to his record keeping anyway. I think he's 300-0 or something like that now. Seriously though I would have much preferred to see a rematch between those two instead of that stupid exhibition (which I didn't watch even though it was free it cost too much) with the Haitian the other night. At least it would have been funny.
Re: Wilder scores a spectacular first round KO victory over top challenger Stiverne!!!
Stiverne wasn't in good shape no doubt, but it's clear to see what happens when Deontay Wilder decides to let rip with a volley of punches, his power is scary.
I get a feeling that the Joshua camp know they have the boxer with a better overall selection of punches, but they also know that Joshua had better bring along a chin because if Deontay unloads and catches him it could be over very quickly.
Joshua seemed like he was puffing at times against Takam and there's no doubt it was stopped early to save Joshua face, that said Joshua did dominate but his game plan clearly hit a wall after the mid rounds and he couldn't finish Takam off legitimately.
