You're a classic example of someone who seems to be so disturbed by casual fans enjoying themselves (God forbid AJ has got armchair sports fans interested in boxing!) that automatically Joshua must be ready to be derailed.
It's absolutely bizarre.
People need to ignore the hype and assess fighters on their merits.
I don't mind casuals enjoying themselves it's good publicity for boxing & keeps it in the headlines
But theres some serious sh*t talk surrounding AJ and some people seem to think he is really much better than he is & that he will change dramatically , I think what we see is what we are pretty much going to get from AJ with perhaps a few improvements here and there but nothing too much to write home about
I mean laughing at someone saying Usyk would beat AJ if he moved up to HW is ridiculous, Usyk is a great boxer, much more technically and fundamentally sound than Joshua, if you know boxing you know that that isn't laughable
Casuals don't bother me it's things like that from people who "know" boxing that are comicalWhat do they see in AJ

Re: Anthony Joshua ... Overhyped & Overworked ??
I think he's head movements have improved... slightly. There were some moments in middle rounds vs Wlad where he slipped a few shot and I thought 'ok, that was slick. Not seen that before'. Saying that, he hasn't had to slip and ducked before, no-one really hit him except Whyte once.Oiky wrote: ↑08 Nov 2017, 07:53 AJ still doesn't work the body enough, still has bad head/lateral movement, still got holes in stamina
50/50 with wilder, if wilder caught him he wouldlnt let him off the hook, Joshua also looks vulnerable after a flurry of shots
I wouldn't make Joshua favourite against Povetkin either
His muscle boundness causes he to be very slow. His straight rights vs Martin were good and sharp but i noticed that when Wlad had him pinned on the ropes for 10 secs in the fifth, when AJ threw the odd shot back they were slow and uneffective. When Mayweather does it for example against the ropes (ok, very different fighter), the fast returns keeps the fighter thinking about throwing too many against the ropes. My point being, if Wilder gets AJ trapped and starts swinging, I can't see AJ doing anything to make him think twice about swinging away.
That said, I think AJ beats Wilder early; a short straight right while Wilder is throwing a punch as wide as Alaska will do it

AJ is a huge brand. A defeat won’t ruin that. I’d say if he came back to avenge a defeat his profile would reach bigger heights.
Don’t forget Matchroom gave loads of AJ content to BBC, so expect AJ to be a shoe in for SPOTY. That would have a huge impact on his profile.
He will be the biggest sport star in the country in 2018.
boxrec seems to be full of blinkered AJ fans though
It's just as full of blinkered Fury fans who think he's got all the attributes of the ultimate heavyweight boxer ever to do it.

Tyson would box rings round Joshua
Dont think Any one who believes fury would beat AJ has said he's the greatest to ever do it
Said it before and will say it again whilst Tyson isn't a big puncher I wouldlnt even be surprised if Tyson got AJ out of there with a bodyshot and I don't give a f*ck what people think about that statement. The way AJ huffs and puffs at times a sensible man would try and rip him to the body and Tyson would

Pernell 'Son of John McDermott' Fury would be lucky to get out of the third. His lack of defence would make it easy for Joshua to land his right hand. It would be a very, very simple night for AJ.Oiky wrote: ↑09 Nov 2017, 13:44priviledged you remembered my exact words

At this point Fury's concern is boxing rings around the buffet table.

I could see an argument for overhyped. I can't see an argument for overworked. He's only fought twice this year.

It's like there wouldn't be an opponent punching back the way you talk. A big strong brave really hard hitting one.Oiky wrote: ↑09 Nov 2017, 13:44priviledged you remembered my exact words

Re: Anthony Joshua ... Overhyped & Overworked ??
Joshua deserves a lot of the hype in fairness, he's still a baby in HW terms yet holds 2 of the major belts and has sold out 2 huge stadiums in his last 2 bouts alone making him a ppv superstar after 20 fights! People say he got lucky in his home Olympics but he still has a gold medal. Yes he has flaws but which heavyweight in history didn't? He's passed a couple of tests on his whiskers vs Whyte and Wlad, sustained a heavy butt in his last fight yet kept winning round after round vs a tough, well rated and ranked opponent. He definitely has an air of vulnerability about him at times, maybe when he's been hit hard he takes his time to find his feet again and they aren't the quickest feet in the business to start with! Comes in too heavy perhaps and doesn't work the body as well as he might but all areas that can be improved upon with a great coach like McCracken in his corner. Wilder has a 40/60 chance of beating him in my opinion but AJ strikes me as being a very tough man himself when backed up and Deontay has that chinny feel about him but might just land a jackpot shot. I don't think Fury is even in the mix for a fight with AJ next year so its pretty pointless to keep mentioning him really, lets see how he gets on IF he regains his licence and IF he loses all that excess weight and IF he still has the desire. AJ is the real deal right now and its that feeling he could lose anytime that makes him so watchable to me but he's picking up more and more experience in every fight and looking to meet the best contenders.
Re: Anthony Joshua ... Overhyped & Overworked ??
Joshua's interviews on ifl must be the most edited i've ever seen. Humble my arse.
Re: Anthony Joshua ... Overhyped & Overworked ??
obviously hes being promoted as a humble guy but why do so many ppl think hes really a fake?
Re: Anthony Joshua ... Overhyped & Overworked ??
Cos he's shown signs that All that humble act is just fake and part of a persona he's been told to have
People noticed he wasn't exactly mr humble with some of the comments he made in the Whyte presser
Some of his humble talk is almost robotic

Can't he not sound so scripted???
I enjoy watching Joshua fight he's talented and a ton of fun.
But it's like he's a politician outside the ring just reading a rehearsed script. He doesn't seem real.
Very fake feeling. But that's just my opinion
Re: Anthony Joshua ... Overhyped & Overworked ??
Yes but it draws in the masses, which means more ticket sales, more PPV sales, more interest from sponsors, more interest in boxing as a whole and a shiteload more money for Joshua and Hearn.
Re: Anthony Joshua ... Overhyped & Overworked ??
I think a defeat will allow him to grow into the fighter many of us want him to be. Certainly could happen. Although he’s had the warning sign a couple of times so it’s something that can be worked on.PredatorHayds wrote: ↑09 Nov 2017, 08:58 I think Usyk could come up and beat them all.

Right now, we know he can fight, based upon the doemstic war with Whyte and the big world title fight with Klitschko. He can come back from being hurt to score a dramatic KO, which is very encouraging. Obviously, there is that strange interval, when he’s temporarily gassed. Before that second wind comes. Where he seems completely lost, almost sleepwalking. Most would’ve been defeated, but he found a way out. Yet - someone could “drown” him.
Not sure it’s going to be Usyk, an exceptional cruiserweight admittedly. Not sure his “piston pumping” style of punching - somewhere between Steve Robinson and Audley Harrison - is going to have much impact at heavyweight. Nor do I think he’ll be mobile enough with the extra heavyweight poundage (and he’s fairly flat footed as it is) to avoid the shots coming back. Someone, maybe a heavyweight dark horse, maybe the cruiserweight tournament winner, will give him the test he needs.
Intrigued how the 250-pound Joshua would match up to the 220-pound Wilder, both being around the same height. Definitely anything could happen although I think Joshua hits straighter and shorter and that his shots could get there first. Should be an exciting battle, what idiot American commentators would liken to “rock ‘em, sock ‘em robots.”
Re: Anthony Joshua ... Overhyped & Overworked ??
True yet when a fighter speaks bluntly people often get outraged and offended, especially in this era of social media, where everyone wants to feel superior to a public figure and where everyone has to click “comment” before they’ve thought about what they’re going to say.tiny_acres wrote: ↑10 Nov 2017, 00:17Can't he not sound so scripted???

Re: Anthony Joshua ... Overhyped & Overworked ??
Not sure I'd call the Whyte fight a war to be fair.
Joshua was caught with one decent shot but probably won every other round and rendered Whyte unconscious.

Re: Anthony Joshua ... Overhyped & Overworked ??
Both men badly hurt in a very exciting fight. Just about good enough for me. Especially at heavyweight
Re: Anthony Joshua ... Overhyped & Overworked ??
It was a good HW scrap
