boring ko punchers?

Post by jamamb »

wlad klit strikes me as a bit of an oddity in that he clearly had serious power for the level he was fighting at, yet he is widely considrred awful to watch. who else present or historical is like that.

Donaire was the first that came to mind, don't know if he fits your criteria exactly but for a guy with a big punch at the lower weights he often seemed to be overly patient, and waited a long time to pull the trigger IE Nishioka and Narvaez. That habit was exposed against Rigo

I mean he wasn't AWFUL to watch but not the most exciting for a one punch KO merchant

I'd say Foreman, although he was in some cracking fights

For a fighter with so many shocking, give-you-chills one-punch knockouts, Randall Bailey was often dire to watch.

He sprang to mind when I saw the title thread.

Lennox got stick for not being as exciting as his American rivals, despite his impressive power.

I was considering Haye as well, seems to be a trend of heavyweights (Wlad, Foreman, Audley and Lennox), probably because their pace is much slower than lighter boxers.

Bonecrusher was quite content to plod through numerous rounds before at last slamming through one of his death blows. Tyson fight the supreme example of his minimalist aesthetic.

Foreman has no place in this thread.

Aye, he's just too awkward, and against Billy Joe especially.

Foreman has been in some great fights. All time great

Haye Wlad and values fight aside in many exciting fights

Lennox got less exciting as he got older. Early Lennox used to wreck people

Wlad was in boring fights purely because everyone was levels below him and due to early chin issues didn’t take risks if he didn’t have to. BUT when opponent turned up for a fight he was in some decent fights it’s just unfortunate there wasn’t many decent opponents. AJ was an exciting fight as was the Pulev demolition both fighters turned up to win.

Criminally under rated fighter IMO. Though I've said a few times on here both Donaires and Mare's legacys have been tainted a lot by not fighting each other when they should have.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Rigo.

The most boring fighter to watch but he does have legitimate power which he doesn't use.

The Quillin fight was absolutely dire. Both guys afraid of each others power.

Lee and Rigo are good shouts. Rigo's power is probably one of the most overlooked aspects of his game, very sharp puncher.
