I'm pretty gobsmacked by what I've just seen and heard. Maybe I don't know the sport as much as what I thought I did.

There's such a bias against the Smith's on here that it definitely clouds people's judgement I think. The first 4/5 rounds were very close. A couple of the scores for Williams on here are laughable really

They kept comparing William's last performance.. it was not supposed to be relevant..

houston 'Intelligent boxing by Smith, good ring generalship, but I had it fairly tight, 115-113 in Smith's favor.'

maybe group think on boxrec? i mean i dunno, just strange how ppl not here could see it so differently.

I have nothing against Smith.. he fought well.. but Williams did better..

I guess he's going to fight for the vacant WBO title AGAIN!

Strange atmosphere at the fight too

Especially when you could hear every word Tesco was saying .

When the played the highlights of the fight back the only rounds when Smith actually featured were the last 2 .

First 2 could have gone either way .

Really wanted Wlliams to win but thought Smith was the better man tonight, 117-111 was a bit silly but couldn't see beyond Smith

This is exactly the kind of bullshit decision that turned me off of Boxing many years ago.
I used to live and breathe it,but its farcical nowadays isn't it.
Boxing politics just makes it pointless.

I said Williams looked like he had right hand damage, wasn't throwing it cleanly at all. Frankly surprised that so many had him winning that

There's a kid at work who goes to a few fights and watches a fair bit on tv, he said he'll be watching, I'll ask him what he thought on Monday, he isn't part of any group think

#2 Vs #4 to become mandatory?...Take it the winner will fight Kurbonov for the title after Cotto vacates?

I agree but smith jabbed boxed moved and outwitted Williams. Williams had too many single punches not enough variety, even at halfway I had smith in control.

Opinions are opinions but i was surprised when i came on here after 7 and some folk were saying 5-2 Williams. It was like getting the excuses in early!

It was ridiculous. That last round "oh look now, look at smith, smith is showing his dominance on the front foot, pushing Williams back, putting him under so much pressure!" ... so how about the other 90% of the fight? "Oh look, he's making Williams miss, wonderful back foot boxing master class!" AWFUL!

Probably, I only came on here @ the end - surprised you all thinking LW had won.
I might have been getting group-think from the comms admittedly, but in a dull fight where not a lot happened I had Smith nicking it.
His body-language, pacing and experience edged LW out for me.
Can't see the controversy - certainly no robbery :witzend:

That guy went 12 with a guy Williams beat with ease in 2 round

He is probably piss poor and smith will become a two time world champion despite being nowhere near world class

The likes of Charlo would blast him out with ease

Think thats way ott mate, I really was rooting for Williams and I don't care much for the Smiths at all but I thought it was a close but clear win for Smith 115-113 sits ok with me but have to admit I didn't actually score it, just felt that Smith was mostly in control and that Williams was always chasing it

I think Smith started doing well after 5 rounds. Up until then, they were very close. I had Williams nick them.. Smith did well to cut the ring off at times and did some aggressive work when needed.

I'm sure he told him at the end of the 9th he needed to win the last 3 rounds, if Lockett could see it then surely others can :maybe:
