Gorman fights a lot like his trainer Hatton. Lots of fighting in the clinch, and most of his good punches land either right as a clinch is forming or right as it's dissolving. But he does hit really hard and fast during those moments, and usually places the punch at the liver area. Also throws an overhand left from an orthodox stance, which is a pretty rare punch.

Soltby was maddening, as he kept turning his back and relying on the ref to protect him from cheap shots. No one ever taught Soltby to protect himself at all times.

Anyways, this was a really good win. Gorman was already the highest-rated heavyweight his age or younger, but this win will put him somewhere in the top 55, moving him ahead of 24-year-old Jermain Franklin and 25-year-old Oleksandr Teslenko.

Sounds like the kind of guy Wilder might fight next. WBC, UK, and nothing special, is he?

this is an interesting thing....because if you notice earliar fight footage of Gorman on youtube you'll notice theres a particular fight where he's constantly rubbing his glove over his hair as if the few strands were troubling him. Since then he's gone for the completely shaved option.

its this fight.
Either the ref was having a nervous breakdown or I'm just impatient. At the beginning of the fight what the hell was he waiting for?

That was a very good win. I'm surprised Soltby took the fight tbh. I had him down as a prospect to keep my eye on, but that was two or three years back and I'd rather given up on him as other German (or Germany based) prospects overtook him.

Was he a replacement for Nick Webb, that was a fight I was looking forward to?

The Leather vs Foot fight was fun and some say Foot should've won. Foot def gave a great effort and Leather showed heart and durability surviving the KD and the aggression from Foot and coming back in the late rounds with hand speed and combos.

Gorman has been fun to follow so far, let's see what happens when he takes the next step

The impression I get from Gorman is he's not a serious professional.. He's sleepy like he's disinterested.. He's very fat.. He has a decent boxing stance and that's the best thing about him.. He looks like he has the makings of a good athlete, just from his balance and the way he stands..

But his footwork is terrible.. His hand placement is haphazard.. He's very soft and he's not strong.. If a guy has been fighting and training his body for 2 years, he needs to be much farther along.. He should be getting sharp.. You need to get hold of a great strength trainer and get his physical strength up.. Hire a nutritionist and get the fat off.. Then you need somebody to teach him how to box, starting with his footwork and jab..

Obviously he takes a nice punch and seems to like to fight.. That will not get him anywhere because those kids are a dime a dozen.. There needs to be a lot of seriousness and all I see is twaddling about and laziness.. Did you see Wladimir Klitschko's stance, feet, and defense before Steward got him??? He had serious problems and he's a guy who worked harder than anyone.. If Wlad needed help, this kid needs help in spades.
