NOTICE: NEW TRAINING OPTION

Post by Fist of Legend »

there is a training option in the game and I think its about time managers get to have a say in how their fighter comes into the fight

There are 5 training categories to choose from: Power, Endurance, Defense, Hand Speed and Tactical Skill

this will have an effect on the way your fighter comes into the fight, for example, say your boxer is fighting a big power puncher you might want to train defense or hand speed to beat him to the punch.

the outcome of training can be both positive and negative, for example maybe your boxer spent too much time on Tactical Skill and neglected Endurance, he might not perform at his best if the fight goes late.

if you want your boxer to train for something specifically just state which category you want to focus on in the matchups thread or send me a pm, only one choice can be made per fight.

This is not mandatory and you can just have him train everything equally which is what we've always done. no cpu fighters will have training options.

In effect for Week #2

I thought it might be worth a try, to see how it works.

so Kevo was the only manager who attempted the training option, he asked for both Michael Nunn and Dick Tiger to focus on Power training and both his fighters won by KO and TKO respectively. it worked out for him this time.

Yes, I noticed that too... Maybe you really were on to something here, Mr Fist.

Question: When we use this New Training Option stuff. Does it have to be 100% power, 100% Hand Speed, 100% Technique. Or what have you for the week. Or could we request a 50/50 split between 2 things. Or perhaps a 33% split between 3 different training options.

to be honest I have no Idea how it works, the game manual is vague on what actually is happening, here is what it says
the training page allows for you to train your fighter if you choose in whatever area you feel they need the work for the fight at hand.
you can only select one option per fight though.

Has anybody given this a try during the season? Do you see any noticeable difference?

I've given it a try a few times.

I trained Nino Benvenuti for Power when he had won all of his fights by Decision. He won his next bout against a CPU opponent via 1st round KO.

I also focused Nino's training on handspeed when he fought Bernard Hopkins both times. He didn't lose either fight.

I haven't overused it, as I think it's best for your fighters to develop a good all around game, but there is SOME occasion where a distinct advantage coming into a fight may help you in a particular matchup.

That's why I'm The Brain. I know what advantage is needed and when :OhYes:

Walker KO 1 over Fitzsimmons was the direct result of Power training

I forgot it was an option. Might try it towards the end of the season here, but definitely next season I will try to implement it.
