The mandatory is entitled to whatever the particular governing body decides, that's not their true value though.

Plus, a mandatory is presumably being "rewarded" for something - winning a final eliminator for example - which Parker would be perfectly welcome to try, although he would probably only be mandatory for one belt at a time.
so a Takam or a Pulev is "rewarded" but a belt holder isn't as deserving?
Yes, because they are mandatories. Being a mandatory guarantees them a certain percentage (I don't know the percentages, I'm sure someone on here will), being a belt holder guarantees Parker nothing. This isn't charity, it's business.
Nonsense. A unification should be worth at least as high a percentage as a mandatory.

Well, it isn't. Nobody has specified limits on purse splits for unifications so we can talk about what should be the split as much as we like, there are no rules about it so it's not relevant.

And why should a unification be worth the same as a mandatory? Which governing body decides what the split should be when there is more than one belt on the line?

Plus, the figures quoted earlier show that Pulev was due to get around 20% and Takam got around 10% so maybe 30% would actually be quite generous.

Higgins is a bit of a character isn't he?
"Eddie's email must have been hacked"
He will hang out and probably get the best he can for Joe's belt. While 40% is a bit optimistic, he has to do what he can. Parker ain't worth much without his belt.

Here Here. 35% is fair, he holds a world title but has no following or track record of making the numbers stack up. 35% is a fair amount
A little generous for me - 33% ! I figure 2 belts vs 1.

I think we're all plucking figures out of arses, really. How much more of a draw is Parker than Takam/Breazeale/Pulev ?
Not a lot I reckon. Parker has a belt and half of chance of winning, so that means something, but the reality is AJ will be by far anyone's biggest payday yet, with a win (or a great loveable loser effort) opening the door to more big bucks. So Fast Eddie can offer him whatever he likes and Parker has to wear it.

If I was Fast Eddie, I'd offer him £250k plus all the PPV in ANZ.

Parker won’t get that same money against anyone else who wants his belt

If it’s fair in your head that’s fine. I’m just talking real numbers
I agree, Parker doesn't get AJ money anywhere else. But when he loses his title to J, as I think he does, he isn't worth a carrot.
The WBO Title is the only think that makes him worth anything and he has to milk that...
Don't underestimate Parker's home town fans Wes. Even after his loss to Holyfield, David Tua was still making a good earn down here. He set a PPV record that still stands today :o
Interesting Kiwi - how many ? how much ?
Say AJ spanks Joe in four one-sided rounds and it's a bit of a mismatch (not exactly a huge price @ the bookies) could Parker REALLY still do a PPV vs a Takam/Chisora and make good money ?
Could he negotiate 'my offer' of a decent flat fee plus all the PPV in ANZ, could he blindside Fast Eddie with how much that would be get an unexpectedly huge purse out of him ?!
Would love that  :TU: :salut:

2009 David Tua versus Shane Cameron boxing match still stands as a world record in terms of pay per view uptake as a percentage of population. 70,000 but I don't know the $$.

70k from such a small population is VERY impressive - especially for that shite. But wasn't that a real big 'event' fight down-under -
local derby, bragging rights etc ?
Even then it's still a rubbish total ! It's f@!k all even for a UK-only PPV, for a big US PPV it's a drop in the ocean - even at $50 AUD for a PPV. (is that normal?)
Parker could get one third of a fight grossing £30 million - maybe more - for AJ. It's his lottery ticket and he's gotta cash it out.
Should be a good fight :box:

Set what you believe you are worth and hold out for it.
If Hearn isnt willing to pay he should go the Aussie PPV route, Hearn and AJ will need a worthy opponent sooner or later and Champ vs. Champ always sells.
AJ can't got through 2018 knocking over unknown, non-English speaking lads and expect his value to rise, it will stagnate if not drop...

I "saw" the Tua Cameron fight at my country pub. The owner/barman/bottlewasher (it's a small pub) told me the best night the pub had since he took it over in '82 was that night. By a long way. I couldn't even get to the bar it was so packed. The garden bar was as packed as the main bar and there wasn't even a screen out there :maybe:
It was not until 2011 that I actually got to see the fight when someone kindly put it on the internet

Sure we all know AJ ia the draw and Aj is where the money is , but in order for it to stay that way , he needs some competetive fights , not European taxi driver of the month , he's waaay past that ,,
So who does it leave , not many Whyte -Chisora , no way they apease the fans or even generate the interest .. So who does , easy the other 2 champs Wilder first and Parker second .

But i think its becoming obvious that Wilder -AJ is going to be VERY DIFFICULT to make , Wilder does'nt seem to want it , he will prefer to take lots of lttle bites of the apple , and call the shots , AJ now i'm getting the impresion that Eddie does'nt really want it , he's spending so much time and effort pushing for Whyte to fight Wilder , i'm getting the impression he really wants a sacraficial lamb to test the waters on just how hard Wilder hits, meaning he does'nt want to risk his cash cow , Now we have Fury talking it up again and actually seeming like he means it , theres another spanner in the works , Aj will want to get sharper and more experience before Fury makes his comeback , so AJ needs the fights , but he also needs someone reasonably credible , whos' that man , to me it stands out like a smack on the nose Parker is that man .. On the face of it he has every single attribute AJ needs , beatable , smaller , and above all he has a world title so there can be a big buildup ,, OK Aj sells tickets but the big ticket sales will slow without a credible opponent , Parkers team would be stupid to sell his belt for less than 35 %

That’s huge numbers for Tua/Cameron!

Always wondered why NZ don’t produce good boxers, generally speaking. Same with the surrounding islands. I’ve always thought the Pacific Islands has unmatched potential to find heavyweight talent especially. Those Samoan/Tongan/Fijian chaps are big fellas!

He is a world champion and he has something joshua wants,he will bring a lot of interest from australia and new zealand probably alot of PPV sales too so i would give him 45%. Joshua is a massive draw in britain but so in parker in new zealand and like i say he is a world champion so pay him what he is worth.

I suppose it's an issue of population. There are only about four and a half million people in New Zealand full stop. If 25% of every adult in the country bought a PPV, (which is obviously a ludicrous overestimation) it would still do smaller numbers than Joshua Klitschko.

He has the Pacific Island population in Australia behind him but thats about it. Locals would take an interest but I wouldnt expect big ppv numbers there. The majority of his fans are in NZ

Parker should just take what he's offered or leave it

Where else will he make that money?

The belt is the best thing he has going for him, he's not even really a draw with the belt

Correct.
AJ doesn't need the fight as much as Parker does.
Eddie could try harder to make the Wilder fight instead or maybe AJ v David Haye could be a possibility - if Haye beats Bellew convincingly next month.

Well....
I suppose that's yes and no.
Parker is a good boxer but isn't realistically looking at 'what is my legacy' etc, he just wants to compete, defend his title and make a few quid. He is financially pretty secure I believe and can continue boxing and defending his title for multiple decent paydays and retire ten fights from now with loads of money and a claim on the heavyweight championship.

That just doesn't sound feasible. He scraped past Hughie, who is painfully average. He barely got past Andy Ruiz, who isn't much if at all better.

These are guys at least a level below the likes of Povetkin and Ortiz - probably Pulev as well and realistically on a par with who - Breazeale? Are they even clearly better than Whyte?

The point I'm making is that I don't think Parker, or his team, or his fans really think he can just knock out ten defences of his title and make a killing that way. I'd bet he makes more money taking the Joshua fight even if he loses it than trying to do the above. He's just not that good.

.@anthonyfjoshua thanks for offering me less than half of what you paid Martin, to unify! Do you really want to fight? Make a serious offer #NeverBeenDropped @d_higgins_duco @EddieHearn
Parker quoted this today. Anyone sense a little defeatism.

He says "to unify!" sounds like a foregone conclusion that that is what AJ would be paying for...

A world champion boasting "#NeverBeenDropped"

Maybe it's the short text format of twitter, but this tweet doesn't sound like the man coming after the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world. It sounds like a man looking to get the highest percentage for his cash out fight
