Martin Murray Hopes To Face Daniel Jacobs Next
Middleweight contender Martin Murray (36-4-1, 17 KOs) is hoping to fight former champion Daniel Jacobs (33-2, 29 KOs) in the New Year.
The two fighters are now promotional stablemates with Jacobs recently signing up Eddie Hearn as part of his Matchroom USA venture.
Jacobs and Murray have a common opponent in WBA, IBO, WBC, IBF middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin. Murray was stopped by Golovkin in eleven rounds back in February 2015. It remains as the only stoppage defeat of Murray's career. At the time, Murray had given Golovkin the longest fight of his career.
Jacobs snapped Murray's achievement back in March, when he went the full twelve round distance with Golovkin and lost a close unanimous decision.
"I really rate Jacobs, he is up there with the best middles in world, as he proved against Golovkin," Murray told Sky Sports. "I didn't think he beat 'GGG' but he definitely showed how good he is.
"What I liked most about that performance was how disciplined he was and his corner in particular were amazing. I would love to fight Jacobs, we've already fought in the amateurs and you know I've never dodged a fight.
"You've got that Matchroom link, so you'd think it's an easy fight to make. I know I'm in the final stages of my career so all I can do is just keep ticking over and wait for the call. I'll be making sure I'm ready for a big fight even at short notice."

This wouldn't be a bad fight at all..
Murray shows up to big fights.. and he's not exactly a small middleweight either..

I think Murray and Smigga should fight each other for a vacant crown, keep them both happy.
Re: Martin Murray Hopes To Face Daniel Jacobs Next
Didn't think Murray could fight in the states!?

Jacobs was asked this question directly and he said he's not interested. - Which means it will probably happen

yeah... didn't he lie on his visa about criminal convictions when going watching hatton in Vegas, then we he applied for work visa it got flagged
bit pointless fighting him in England... isn't Hearn trying to crack America with him?

He has been to prison a few times in his younger days if I remember rightly, he couldn't get a visa to fight Chavez?sweetscience wrote: ↑14 Nov 2017, 10:26yeah... didn't he lie on his visa about criminal convictions when going watching hatton in Vegas, then we he applied for work visa it got flagged

I wouldn't mind seeing it. Jacobs would take a UD I figure.
Re: Martin Murray Hopes To Face Daniel Jacobs Next
please no. it would be a stinker with murray just shelling up behind the high guard. cant stand murray. get jacobs in with the bjs-lem winner (though bjs is with frank and jacobs with eddy). lem especially would make for some action before getting stopped. jacobs needs a destructive showing after the arias borefest.
an before ossyrules comes in to say it a 5th time, yes, jacobs is better than lem. doesnt mean its not a fun matchup. sure as hell would be better than jacobs last one

Murray no thanks mate, all you do is box behind a high guard and lose- nobody is interested.
Backstory aside I’m not even really a Jacobs fan Tbh but he would easily beat Martin in a pointless and boring fight.

No point in Jacobs fighting anyone outside the top 10. Charlo, Lemieux/BJS winner, Canelo & GGG should be the aim for early next year.

Jacobs said in the Press Conference it wasn’t a fight that was likely to happen as the British Media asked him - said it was pointless as it wouldn’t bring anything to the table.

glad he's said this. Only want Jacobs fighting the best at 160 now. BJS Lemieux winner would be ideal, or failing that Charlo

I like Murray, I like Jacobs but a fight between the pair of them is pointless.
Jacobs needs to fight for a world title or fight Charlo.
No one else in the upper echelons of the rankings unexposed enough to bring money or excitement to the table for Jacobs.

He doesn't NEED to fight for a world title.
He couldn't even finish Arias.. He may need another fight. At this rate, he isn't beating GGG in a rematch, nor is he beating Canelo.

He put up a better GGG showing on my card than Canelo did.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑15 Nov 2017, 09:56He doesn't NEED to fight for a world title.

Is Martn Murray in to self harm? Jacobs will beat the shít outta him man! I like Murray, he's a good honest contender but Jacobs is levels above him and probably n his prime. Recipe for disaster man!

I agree totally with this. But its all about the money mate. Martin probably knows he cant compete at this level anymore. But he also knows hes still a name at world level and he can still earn decent money. So good luck to the lad
Re: Martin Murray Hopes To Face Daniel Jacobs Next
murrays a name for not winning at world level
