Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
Don't know, but here's hoping it'd be like Foreman vs Lyle. I'd be a real happy camper if that were the case. Even if Wilder came out on top, if it were a Foreman-Lyle type slugfest I'd probably start liking him then.
Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
I don't know either which is why I haven't voted yet.
I'd like Wilder better if it was like Foreman-Lyle even if he didn't come out on top.
Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
I could easily see it being a fight where both fighters get dropped and hurt. They're both very powerful, and both defensively vulnerable, so it's very possible that it does become one of those kinda fights.

Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
I think they both get dropped, but neither will be to absorb as much as foreman/Lyle. Either that or Wilder smokes him.
Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
I could easily see either of them winning with the first big combination they land. So Joshua smokes him or Wilder smokes him both seem quite possible to me.SaadOffTheDeck wrote: ↑15 Nov 2017, 15:13 I think they both get dropped, but neither will be to absorb as much as foreman/Lyle. I don't think either one of them would take the others biggest shots very well.
Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
It's going to be short. It's going to be explosive, that much is almost assured. Who wins ... well, whoever lands first with the heavy artillery. Wilder has the edge in power and his unorthodox and unpredictable style is his strength and his weakness. Joshua is much more the classic boxer with good technique and consequently more predictable, again a strength and possibly a weakness. His might be the lesser power but it'll do the job. A bit like US and the Soviets worrying about who had more nukes back in the day. Take the knockout out of the equation and Joshua would box his ears off, but removing the knockout is neither desirable nor possible. (20 ounce gloves anyone?
)
Am I sitting on the fence, yes i am rather aren't I. Ok balls on the chopping block : I've posted a couple of times before that I see it going the same way as the AJ v Charles Martin fight, with Joshua neatly avoiding Wilder's clumsy attempt to nail him, with a sweet counter. I see Deontay sat on his skinny ass with a WTF was that, expression on his face. I'm probably a lot less confident than I was, but I'm going to stick with that.

No more than 6 rounds.. They will start going for it after 2 rounds..
First round they will feel each other out..

Yeah I wouldn't doubt it. Guys tend to be tentative when they know they're faced with an opponent with one punch knockout power.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑15 Nov 2017, 15:30 No more than 6 rounds.. They will start going for it after 2 rounds..

Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
Could also be Lewis-Grant like, with the first guy to hurt the other winning quickly.

I couldn't think of a comparable fight for me and then it hit me. Balboa/Lang. Obviously Joshua would be very focused, but that's exactly how hungry Wilder is. Lol, I also think aj will win the rematch. He's much better technically, he's just going to get caught with his nuts on the table in the first one.

Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
Joshua tends to plod foward slowly. So I would envision Wilder fighting off the back foot and looking to land something big from distance, maybe hoping to connect as he comes in to start. Wilder has advantages in speed and mobility and this will become very apparent after one round. Joshua will be fighting an opponent with a longer jab. That is going to be a major issue for him, particularly since Joshua has little head movement.
Wilder has been saying for years that his ideal opponent is around his size, for leverage, and doesn't move his head.
The second Joshua starts to show any signs of fatigue it's windmill time and the end of the fight. Wilder came in light against Stiverne. I believe he used his last camp to focus on speed with and endurance with Joshua in mind.

Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
No way is that easy work. Joshua is the best in the world. But I am predicting, late stoppage for Wilder.
Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
I think Joshua blasts him out within 5 rounds. Wilders power papers over some pretty big flaws. In some ways windmilling is his best chance as it at least gives him a chance to land the knockout shot, but I can’t realustically see Joshua not ramming a straight right down the pipe and beating him too the punch.
Wilders power is his ticket out of being a pretty basic level guy. Joshua is better than him

Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
This, Wilder go's from E level competition, like Stiverne, Arreola and Molina, to the best boxer out there, it's AJ's weakest opponent since Molina and even Molina was only accepted to trigger Wilder, who said he expected the fight to go to distance.
It's a joke, everyone who knows something about boxing knows thee Takam fight is much more interesting with fair referees.
Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
I like both fighters but I see Joshua inching forward and wearing down Wilder behind a tight guard & a huge jab.
8-10 tko Joshua.
But this being heavyweights and Wilder can punch who knows

Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
Has the potential to be all of the above
I favour Joshua to stop him, Wilder has the power to turn that prediction on it's head if Joshua makes a mistake, knowing those two facts, the Foreman vs Lyle prediction is a distinct possibility if one gets wobbled early and the 2 decide to throw caution to the wind.
Equally, knowing that they both know the above, Wilder might come in fencing with the jab, Joshua could become over cautious of catching a right hand and it could be dull as shit.
I really should have selected option E...

Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
When two punchers face each other, the guy that’s less reliant on his big punch has a pretty good advantage
Joshua dominates his opponents on a way to stoppage. Wilder has great power and is a great finisher, but he doesn’t dominate opponents in the same fashion. His knockout punch isn’t always set up.

Here are some of the many reasons why the above is total nonsense.SaadOffTheDeck wrote: ↑15 Nov 2017, 15:13 I think they both get dropped, but neither will be to absorb as much as foreman/Lyle. Either that or Wilder smokes him.
A. Neither Joshua or Wilder are as wide open or as easy to hit as Foreman and Lyle were... B. Wilder and Joshua have been knocked down a combined total of twice in 59 fights... C. Foreman and Lyle were knocked down twice each in one fight... D. Foreman was knocked down by feather hitting Jimmy Young who Joshua or Wilder would easily destroy. He finished that match with Little Jimmy on unsteady legs and lost the decision... E. Lyle lost to Little Jerry Quarry getting thoroughly out-boxed by the little dude. Little Jerry is a 1 or 2-round job for either Joshua or Wilder... D. Joshua and Wilder are 12-0 in 12 World Heavyweight Championship Fights -- while Foreman and Lyle are 7-5 in 12 World Heavyweight Championship Fights... G. Foreman lost 2 of the 3 fights that he was knocked down in and Lyle lost 2 of the 4 fights where he was floored -- while Joshua and Wilder won the only fights where they got dumped.
H... Wilder isn't smokin' anybody if he get into a ring with Joshua... He's getting smashed unconscious just like he would have had he fought Ortiz.

Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
It’s clear that AJ and Wilder are capable of hurting each other. So it’s entirely possible that both will either be stunned or dropped at some point during their contest.
Wilder’s strengths over AJ are his fast hands, good stamina, good lateral movement, excellent at fighting on the back foot and superior jab.
Meanwhile, Joshua’s style is more orthodox, more fundamentally sound, he’s bigger, stronger and has better positioning. Although he does lack head movement, is a little ponderous in terms of his footwork, struggles to cut-off the ring against a retreating foe and has shown signs of fatigue against the likes of Dillian Whyte, Dominic Breazeale, Wladimir Klitschko and more recetly Carlos Takam.
AJ’s main weakness, which is his lack of head movement, would make him highly-susceptible to Wilder’s most effective weapons of choice (jabs and crosses).
One of Deontay’s flaws is the fact that he loses composure when he’s put under pressure and starts flailing. And he’s going to have to endure an awful lot of pressure during the early stages of the bout.
I also feel that Deontay is utterly clueless about how to protect himself from shots to the body, which is a type of punch that Joshua landed regularly against Klitschko.
I can see Joshua adopting an aggressive “stalk-‘til-they-can’t walk” approach against a defensively responsible and cautious backpeddling version of Wilder, with the American clearly fighting off the back foot for the majority of the fight.
The Brit will almost certainly gain the winning momentum during the early stages of the bout, with the American trying his upmost to remain patient and weather the storm in order take Joshua into deep water during the later rounds and drown him.
I haven’t made my mind up about who will definitely win this fight yet, but I’m currently favouring Joshua to score a late stoppage victory. I feel that AJ’s size, physical strength, power and pressure will inevitably result in Wilder having to take a lot of punishment and I strongly suspect that the Brit is more durable than the American.

Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
I predict what many are predicting -- lots of pain going both ways and an early stoppage.
Re: Joshua vs Wilder Will Be Like?
He hasn't shown a really good jab... A guy with an excellent jab would have jabbed up Washington... All Wilder did was wait for a right hand shot to get rid of him... He couldn't get jabs on a man who didn't have a defense... Washington won the first 4 rounds.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑16 Nov 2017, 16:04 Wilder’s strengths over AJ are his fast hands, good stamina, good lateral movement, excellent at fighting on the back foot and superior jab.
He didn't jab up Duhaupas and got jabbed around by a super slow jab... He got tagged with follow up, loaded, swinging right hands... Even the completely lost Eric Molina nailed Wilder with some punches.. Wilder looks inept at times and doesn't have Joshua's game by a long shot.
