Tyson Fury vs David Price

Post by SpliffTannen »

After a bit of banter on twitter between the two, it looks like they've agreed to settle some old beef. Tyson ran a poll (with no Joshua or Wilder options) and most of his fans seemed to vote for Briggs purely for the entertaining build up that would ensue. But then it seemed like Tyson and Price made their own deal. I know it's just twitter talk, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was made.

Opponents like David Price, Shannon Briggs, Chris Arreola, Bermane Stiverne and Eric Molina would be absolutely ideal for Tyson Fury’s first comeback fight. They are all fairly well-known, very low risk and borderline world-rated calibre (top thirty at least).

A fight against David Price would probably excite British fight fans the most - followed by Shannon Briggs.

Really? I think Fury stops him mid to late rounds.

Pricey would just be a punch bag for Tyson - could stop him when he likes.

I like it as a comeback fight, an opponent that is well known, a KO victory or a very one-sided decision will put his name back in there.

Price is probably a slightly more interesting opponent than Briggs. Unless Fury has completely fallen apart he should be able to win this one comfortably.

This would be a great fight for Price. Fury is a known quantity and besides, didn't Fury avoid Price previously?

Price really is a no win fight I think.

He’s finished as a serious fighter, but if you’re sloppy he has real big right hand to tak you out

If that fight goes past four rounds I'd urge fury to retire permanently

After all of the years I had to spend arguing with people who insisted that Tyson Fury was terrified of Price, and that Price would destroy him. Now everyone agrees that Price would be no competition for Fury. In 2017, it's like "What kind of crack were those Price fans smoking?"

Fury stops him him the first time he hits him, probably round 1. Price's legs are like wafer-thin.

Good come back fight though.

Decent credible name for Fury to return against. Should be a good motivator for Fury to get in to shape for as it should make a shilling or two.

Enough public interest, Price has a decent enough reputation to make some people think he could cause an upset, so it that regard it's competitive.

Price will deffo get in shape for it.

Decent comeback fight for both in my opinion.

If this fight happened a few years ago it would have been far more interesting, Price's confidence has been shot since the Thompson rematch.

Still, Fury could do a lot worse for a comeback fight. I suppose Price still has enough power in his right hand to believe he can get a KO victory over Fury, provided he lands first (which he won't).

Fury will be wary for the first couple rounds and stay behind the jab, but as soon as Price looks to be tiring (probably about round 3) Fury all put it on him and get him out of there.

If Price wins, then God help the heavyweight division.

A few years back this was a match much enthused about. I feel for the big scouser. The world was at his feet or so it seemed, and now sadly he's regarded as a joke :verysad:

S'funny Audrey never quite elicited the same sympathy in me. I can't put my finger on the reason, maybe it's that I rightly or wrongly see Price's problems as being physiological and/or psychological, and Audley's just a lack of application :maybe:

It wasn't sympathy I had for Audley, it was the fact that every time he came back after falling short he had me convinced this time he was gonna do the business, he was world class at talking a good game that's for sure cos I fell for it every time !
