Joe Gallagher " It would be unfair for Smith to travel to Germany to face Braehmer "

Is it just me or does this article show a lack of confidence in his fighter ?

I don't rate Smith as highly as others but I'd still strongly favour him to beat Braehmer in Germany next year. Sure Braehmer looked decent against Brant but I think it was mostly down to the inexperience of the American and not being able to change to a plan B.

Braehmer of 2-3 years ago probably would beat Smith on points. I'm pretty confident that 0 is going next year most likely in the final of the tournament.

I didn't watch Braehmers last fight but i've been far from impressed with Smith's last 2 fights, especially the last one where he looked clueless at times when he was out jabbed,in Germany he will have to show a big improvement, tough ask for me.

Adam ‘Iron fist’ Smith would walk cockily into the ring, rip the mic off the MC and scream ‘Germans? I’ve sh1t em!!’ At the crowd.

To be fair, he also says it would be unfair for Braemer to fight in the UK - he’s just saying it should be held somewhere neutral.

should go where the fight makes the most money and seeing as Callum Smith has zero following in the UK I'm guessing that would be Germany...

I don't know if purse for each stage were agreed before the series started but if they have I can understand the line he is taking. If they haven't I'd just be going 'show us the money then' and go to Germany and beat him.

Where else could you possibly have it bar England & Germany?

His brothers have had to fight away from home, it's his turn now. Prove yourself in Germany!

Given the final will probably be in Britain, they May as well do a semi in Germany.

I can't see many fans travelling to Switzerland for the fight.

If they want us to believe that Smith is the real deal then they should have the confidence that their man can beat Braehmer (especially this version of Braehmer) away from home...

Smith has lost a fair bit of momentum and stalled a bit recently. Too inactive and the whole wbc saga vs Dirrell dragged out too long. His performances have suffered a bit

Experience and pedigree goes to braehmer, but if smith can put the pressure on and be consistent to the body he should win imo

Be interesting who gets home advantage. I don’t see this happening on neutral ground

I assume it’s Callum and not Paul that’s being discussed here!

Braehmer was brilliant in his last fight. I didn't think he still had that in him. Maybe it was the last juice in the tank, or maybe he is having a Linares like resurgance?
I still back Callum to win, but if Braehmer has another surge like last time, I don't know. The money for this fight lies in the UK or Germany, it has to be one or the other.

Smith ducked a world title fight with James Degale. He then pulled out of a world title fight against Anthony Dirrell (amidst claims Dirrell's promoters tried to move the fight forward by one day) to fight Erik Skoglund in Liverpool.

To be specific regarding the Dirrell fight it was because it was to be moved to Dirrells home town.

Which they had the right to do because they won the purse bid.

Complaining about going to Germany when Eubank has just gone over there and smahed Yildirim to pieces (admittedly he's Turkish but vast majority of his fights have been in Germany) isn't a good look.

And why did he not raise these concerns when Skoglund came to Liverpool?

Fighting a Turk in Germany is much more hostile than fighting a German.
