Of course he was. Fought in 2 olympics and won a Commonwealth Games gold medal as an amateur. That as well as multiple Aussie Titles and various medals overseas. Then turned pro in America and fought all his pro fights overseas before coming to Australia to win IBF world title over Nate Campbell in Melbourne. Lost his world title on points over 12 rounds to hall of famer Marco Antonio Barrera. Pretty fair resume I would think.

Knocked out Nate Campbell twice (one of them was Nate Campbell's own dumbass fault, but still  )

I thought he held his own pretty well with Juan Manuel Marquez back in 2002 before getting stopped. I mean admittedly Marquez was well ahead in the fight, but it's not like Peden was just hopelessly outgunned or anything.

He was a solid fighter. Better than a great deal of boxers.

There are plenty of Peden's fights on Youtube. If you are genuinely interested go and have a look.

Robbie did the right thing... relocated to the States to have a fair crack at his career.... as a result received absolutely no exposure in the mainstream media over here.

True sad that, he used to post at the yuku forum. Some of the posters there accused him of having sour grapes because he was critical of Danny Green. They said he was jealous, one thread when Danny fought Flores in 2010 comes to mind. Some of Danny's fans were extremely upset with him for posting his opinion.

Lol he has been proven right Flores has lost to everyone he's fought with a pulse.

that one post was right on about flores being the cw peter manfredo.was clearly out of his depth against anyone top level and spent most of his career fighting stiffs and talking his way into fights. no one except greens fans rate that win over flores as anything of note.

green has his own cult. never seen ppl get rattled with a bit of criticism to the degree that ive seen green fans.its like they have all their pride invested in him and take it as a personal affront if you have a critical word.

but props to green. few care about him internationally but hes a hero at home. was a strong, solid fighter.

Peden was a super featherweight, Green fought between super middleweight & cruiserweight.

Why would Peden have any problem with Green?

Because if you read the thread he thinks Green manipulated, and conned the public and denigrated the sport he loved.

How that is relevant only you would know. Your obsession with Danny Green knows no bounds.

Guess I got sidetracked think the TS is fishing for bites when asking if Robbie Peden was any good (silly question). Just remembered when he used to post at another forum.

Peden was a World Champion. You can't say fairer than that.

At the time Flores fought Green he was unbeaten in 25 fights. In his next fight he won the NABA and NABO cruiserweight titles.

I might be a little one eyed cause I’ve known Robbie since we were kids. Robbie is about 2 years older than me, but even when he started boxing he was something else. Won Australian junior title in 90 and then knocked out Tony Gee at the State titles before winning senior Aussie Title in 91. Fought in the 91 world champs at just 17 years of age. Beat two fighters before losing to eventual champion István Kovaks from Hungary on points in the quarters. At Barcelona in 92 he also won 2 fights before losing to the Korean who also won the gold medal. Gold medal at 94 Commonwealth Games. Then was beaten by Serifim Toderov in Atlanta who also beat Floyd Mayweather in 96. His pro record speaks for itself. Could be Australia’s Best amateur in my opinion. Great fighter.

Careful. He wants to turn it into a Danny Green thread. Let's try and keep it on topic.

Great post and great insight into Bomber mate. He seems like a straight shooter I remember this article he did on AUS Boxing central.

ROBBIE "BOMBER" PEDEN RELEASES A MUST-READ STATEMENT!

Australia's former IBF world champion Robbie Peden took to Facebook with this must-read post, just hours ago.

It's so good, that we absolutely had to share it with you.

"I have been asked a few times over the past week why I'm not better known in Australia... My reply I never competed for pats on the back... Same with business, money was never my motivation... All I wanted to do is flog c$^ts... And be the best and do what I had to do to succeed.

I posted 3 of my opponents this week... Those 3 won nearly 20 world titles.. Not shit titles, real titles... I was ranked in the top 10 in all 6 yrs as an amateur... I was ranked top 10 in the pros after my 9th fight.

All I will say in life, respect is earned... Everyday I try harder to be a better bloke then I was the day before... Life hasn't handed me any freebies... I just went out and got what I wanted.

I have shared what I earned and some say that was silly of me... Money will never make me it is just a vessel to go from 1 place to another... I was born with nothing and I will die with nothing... And if people think that having money makes u a better person, then they are painfully wrong.

I am polite, honest and I am thoughtful.
Those are things that money cannot buy." — with Robbie Peden.
Thanks for sharing mate. What's he doing now? Think I read him he worked with indigenous yout.

I think so. I think he is in Melbourne. I see his Dad a little bit so I’ll ask him. His Brother Troy was also an Australian amateur champ as well. He was a very polished southpaw but not as dedicated as Robbie. They were 2 Young fellas to keep away from in the amateurs.

Good to hear he is well. He was clearly outclassed in the last fight I seen of his (the MAB fight)but no shame in that. Katsidis is probably the closest to Robbie in the risk taker/warrior stakes since he retired. :TU:
