Carl Frampton vs Horacio Garcia
Frampton finally makes his return this Saturday, 1st fight with W@rren since splitting with McGuigan and 1st fight with Moore since the split from Shane, I'm looking forward to seeing how he looks, he's been inactive, had a lot going on with the splits and change of camps, the Gutierrez call offs, failing weight etc so hopefully he's got his eye back on the ball
He looked a bit flat in the Santa Cruz rematch, it was still a competitive fight but he looked like he lost a bit of zip and short of ideas, I'm hoping the new scenery and the link up with Jamie will get him firing again, Garcia should be made for him, he's a typical Mexican by all accounts and Frampton wont have to go looking for him, he has losses to Hasegawa and Joseph Diaz so doesn't seem the fighter capable of stepping up the levels and a box fighter like Frampton should be too good in every department, he's never been stopped before though so hopefully Carl can KO him to get himself back on track and regain some confidence

Garcia will be ripe for Frampton to pick
Interested to see how he looks under Moore

Re: Carl Frampton vs Horacio Garcia
That’s about the only thing to take from the fight is how he looks under Moore - the Mexican will be Hardy but as you say will be there for the taking to make Frampton look good and showcase for BT.

Re: Carl Frampton vs Horacio Garcia
I had Frampton winning 97-93 his quality just about winning on the day, after a sharp start he semed to gas and change tactics, stopped letting his hands go and allowed Garcia to walk him down and it became a struggle for Frampton to hold him off, the knockdown was harsh it was definitely a slip, still Frampton looked gassed after 5 and that was when Garcia started to come on, Frampton says he chose to fight but truth was he was tired and lost his sharpness, he still looked the better boxer for the most part but he was outworked for spells and backed up, still Frampton finished well and showed he was by far the superior boxer
Frampton's always been a strong aggressive boxer/puncher at SBW but he wont have the power to stop the Avalos's of the Featherweight division, focusing on stamina is a must if he's following a 12 round plan, if he fades against top FWs he wont win

Spot on mate, Frampton is giving up lots of physical advantages at feather so he can't afford to gas, definitely a slip but from the refs view understandable and Victor stuck to his guns in an intimidating arena, I like VL as a ref.handsofstone wrote: ↑18 Nov 2017, 19:46 I had Frampton winning 97-93 his quality just about winning on the day, after a sharp start he semed to gas and change tactics, stopped letting his hands go and allowed Garcia to walk him down and it became a struggle for Frampton to hold him off, the knockdown was harsh it was definitely a slip, still Frampton looked gassed after 5 and that was when Garcia started to come on, Frampton says he chose to fight but truth was he was tired and lost his sharpness, he still looked the better boxer for the most part but he was outworked for spells and backed up, still Frampton finished well and showed he was by far the superior boxer

Re: Carl Frampton vs Horacio Garcia
Yeah he struggles to keep the bigger guys off him at featherweight. If he's not in top condition he'll have some pretty tough nights. First fight in 10 months though after a difficult year. Let's see what shape he's in next time out.

Frampton is as tough as you can get.. But I have feeling he will struggle with genuine FW's..
He might win a third fight with Santa Cruz, or a rematch with Quigg possibly.. But guys like Gary Russell, Valdez etc. He may struggle. Good thing with Frampton, he'll always give it a good do.

Re: Carl Frampton vs Horacio Garcia
Yeah Frampton is as game as a pebble
Re: Carl Frampton vs Horacio Garcia
Didn't watch the full fight but I thought it was a poor performance from Frampton.
He was 1/100 last night. Joseph Diaz ( who I don't rate ) won every round against Garcia. Hasegawa (considered shot at the time) also beat him.
I think it's a sign he is in the slide. Carl's one of my favourite fighters but if I was Oscar Valdez or his team I would be desperate for that fight after last night.
I don't rate Valdez as high as others but he will get Frampton at the right time. Coming over here to face Framptom is Valdez's best chance of a big fight.

Re: Carl Frampton vs Horacio Garcia
Yeah I'd definitely be ready to fight him if I were one of the big names in the division. He's possibly the biggest money fight available to anybody in the division especially in Belfast, and he's quite beatable. I like Frampton, but he's always shown poor stamina, and from the looks of last night he probably oughta be moving up to 130...and frankly that's shark infested waters as well.Naandrew wrote: ↑19 Nov 2017, 15:32 Didn't watch the full fight but I thought it was a poor performance from Frampton.

You are right about it being big moneygilgamesh wrote: ↑19 Nov 2017, 15:34Yeah I'd definitely be ready to fight him if I were one of the big names in the division. The reason I specifically mentioned Valdez is
Warrington and Selby fighting each other.
Leo Santa Cruz fighting Mares again. Leo would NEVER come to Belfast to fight. Mares would, he is a proper fighter but he won't beat Leo in the rematch.
Gary Rusell Jr. just doesn't care about boxing even though he is IMO the most skilful in the division. He's a joke.
That leaves Valdez and Arum can't deliver any big figs for him over in America unless he works with Haymon.
I just don't like the idea of Carl at 130
But look at the options. Lomachenko is far too good, though I think he would come to Belfast. Berchelt will be kept busy with mandatories next year. I rate him highly as well.
That Machado didn't impress me much in winning the WBA belt and it looks like Tevin Farmer is going to pick up the IBF.maybe Carl can beat one of them.
Re: Carl Frampton vs Horacio Garcia
I think it’s hard to judge off 1 fight with his new team have a better idea next time out, but he gassed quickly which was worrying but he seems to load up with some big shots which is energy zapping, I thought the corner looked unorganised having Moore and travis both talking at the same time giving different instructions which is very amateurish, also he keeps harping on about how happy he is etc etc but it’s like that when you start a new job it’s great at the beginning then normality steps in, also to me I think frampton doesn’t wanna fight anymore I think he’s fell out of love with it it’s just the impression I get in his interviews
Re: Carl Frampton vs Horacio Garcia
Think he will lose to Selby if it happens.
Re: Carl Frampton vs Horacio Garcia
Even though I wasn't impressed with Carl I'm still not sure on that fight. I haven't rated Selby that much since the Hunter fight and I think he is really struggling with the weight. He keeps doing it to keep his belt.
That said I don't think the fight will happen anytime soon as it looks like Sleby v Warrington next year.
I do think the Frampton Windsor park fight happens. I think it's one of, Valdez (WBO Feather) Russell (WBC Feather) Machado (WBA Super feather) or Farmer (IBF Superfeather)
Re: Carl Frampton vs Horacio Garcia
Seems they both struggle. I like Carl, one of my favourite fighters to watch but I just think Selby might be the wrong man for him. Hope it gets made.Naandrew wrote: ↑19 Nov 2017, 16:33Even though I wasn't impressed with Carl I'm still not sure on that fight. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Selby stopped Frampton with a body shot - Frampton always looks vulnerable to the body to me, and Selby can be an excellent body puncher.samwbr wrote: ↑19 Nov 2017, 16:39Seems they both struggle. Re: Carl Frampton vs Horacio Garcia
That fella last night was pounding Carl to the body from the get go and he never went down. Obviously Selby is a level above Garcia but he's not exactly a vicious puncher and that dude last night could whack. Frampton has previous for gassing out as he did last night but I think Garcias body work played its part in Carl slowing down.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑19 Nov 2017, 16:47I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Selby stopped Frampton with a body shot - Frampton always looks vulnerable to the body to me, and Selby can be an excellent body puncher.samwbr wrote: ↑19 Nov 2017, 16:39Seems they both struggle. Re: Carl Frampton vs Horacio Garcia
It could be a right stinker. Selby isn't going to make it a tear up as he loses that kind of fight
Re: Carl Frampton vs Horacio Garcia
Haven't seen the Garcia fight yet but even judging off previous performances I'd take Selby over Frampton. Think he'd have success at long range with his height and reach advantage and if comments about Frampton gassing are accurate then I'm not sure Carl would be able to set a pace high enough to out work Selby. Facing Warrington and Frampton in 2018 would be just what Selby needs after a couple of frustrating years.

He never went down admittedly, but I thought he was about to be folded up a few times. Just a hunch, but I reckon Selby can stop him to the bodyStuarty30 wrote: ↑19 Nov 2017, 16:53That fella last night was pounding Carl to the body from the get go and he never went down. I know what you mean mate. I actually text my mate early in the fight and mentioned the body shots were dangerous. I thought Garcia looked like a lightweight in the ring last night man!Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑19 Nov 2017, 17:08He never went down admittedly, but I thought he was about to be folded up a few times.
