With that in mind, the only way Lemieux can get to Saunders is stalking and knocking Billy Joe out. I don't see it, but he's got ridiculous power so who knows. Expect him to nick a decision over there.
bjs is a 6 round fighter. all those skills yet lots of close fights because he cant keep it up. he does enough first half or so to edge it but then starts to really weaken up.it didnt start with that russian either. hed looked in better shape for other guys but still run close. luckily for him lem isnt a stamina machine but the canuck is still more busy throughout than him. bjs needs to be sure he works enough to avoid lem stealing hometown rounds by being more active.

forget his maturity and think about his fight maturity and self discipline.

these have been exceptional since he went to the ingles. the results are there to be seen. BJS won a world title by being only 70% efficient. now all his needs are tailored and his self training discipline is testament to the hard work team ingle have invested. BJS is part of the gym team and well respected and respectful of his colleagues and 'guides'. hopefully he will go to canada and bring the bacon back.

so was that him 100 percent efficient vs monroe? because of the fight vs akakov and the unflattering training pictures i think ppl exaggerate how previously unprepared hes been. there are certain fighters who just dont have it in them to consistently do a full strong 12 rounds. ill be very impressed if he really does school lem and wins a wide decision. more likely i think hell win just scraping by as has been the case several times, not just against the russian.

i think ppl can change but you seem easy to convince mate. years of immature bs and now just a couple interviews convince you hes changed and is now a different person even from recently? i mean and plenty of examples already of his stuff not changing.

ill say he did get in better shape last fight but even then he didnt really look much better than usual imo. i dont mean physially but in the performance. what really was new there? lets see how he does against lem. i think bjs should win but ppl are kidding themselves if they think hes some boxing savant who should put on a schooling. his whole career hes been getting run close even if you look past the squeaker vs the russian. i think his biggest danger against lem is not necessarily the power but getting outworked in the other guys backyard.
I think you're reading much more into what I've written than is actually there.

I'm saying that the Fury episode has matured him somewhat and he's making an effort to change.

You seem to think I believe he's on course for a sainthood.

I don't know if swayed is the right word. It's not like I have a personal or emotional attachment.

But I listened to him talking about Tyson's low point and weight gain and now BJS is serious about nutrition and training rather than just trying to lose the weight.

As Mickey said he's impressing the crowd up in Sheffield

Two southpaws often make fights like that. That had no chance of being any good.

We'll find out if there is a change against Lemeiux.

Lemeiux will come to win and go for the knockout against Saunders. The Munroe fight was absolutely awful matchmaking and shown nothing.

suspect that will be the case mate in more rounds than not. but if he really does show these skills for a whole 12 and boxes a complete fight start to finish i will totally buy into him being a different and far more conditioned fighter now with the ingles, and not the big fader hes been for years.his body looks better but lets see how it works vs someone whos gunna come for him.

i watched lem vs ndam and lems power really bailed him out there. when ndam was hurt or recovering he made lem miss wildly. i think bjs can do the same in most rounds and take the shots betterbut cud be a problem if he gets ragged or isnt punching enough .

I've watched a few interviews with him recently & he seems to have matured 10 years in the last six months. I personally feel that a large part of this is Tyson Fury's problems. BJS has tried to help him & I think he's realised that you only have so long in the sport so why not make the most of it rather than just winging it.

I still only give him a 40% chance of victory against Lemieux (whom I'm also a big fan of) but it's refreshing to see him having a proper pop at the game.
Surely, its the other way pal I have Saunders giving Lemieux a boxing master class? Anyone else agree or have I taken too many knocks to the head?

I had high hopes for Saunders when he was an am. He’s not turned out as good as I hoped he would though. I thought he’d be elite level, he was brilliant as an am.

Matured early though, lots of travellers do to be fair.

think bjs should win but where does all this master class and schooling stuff come from? look at all the competetive fights hes had. akakov, ryder, bkackwell, lee, eubank. monroe barely threw but still won 4 rounds. some ppl talk like bjs is mayweather.

gave away rounds last fight as well to a guy who barely punched. 116-113 and 116-112 about right. and that was supposed to be the new improved bjs after that random ruskie got a draw on a lot of ppls cards. hes cclearly a good boxer but i dont know why ppl love to use terms like 'master class' and 'schooling' in regards to him. hes simply not at that level. he was just a tad better than lee, ryder, green eubank. arguably was no better than akakov.

he should win though cus lemieux has virtually no skill but id expect the canuck to wins his share of rounds. if bjs wins wide and closes strong it will be a really promising sign that his new training has done wonders.

Billy Joe is Billy Joe , I think he reached his pinnacle mentaly a couple of years back , was happy to win a world title , and virtually acknoledge that GGG was the true champ , made money has he repetadly said , and was'nt really interested , in pushing himself ,,, Now though to be honest something has motivated him , wether its himself , Frank or his Aunty Nellie we don'nt know , but from a boxing point of view he seems to of been motivated enough to train in Sheffield , and look to actually have a hard fight , probably with the view of win this one and go for a big payday against GGG or Canelo , and probably against Canelo he has the right style to worry Canelo , he's elusive and will make the redheaded one move , and work , either way if he carries on we will see just how good he is .

Now regards maturity , forget it , he's obviously been told to pull his head in and is trying , but he cannot and will not help himself , he's really a bully who thinks its funny to humiliate and shock people , sooner or later he's gonna do something which at the least will cost him a lot of money in this world of get your own back by civil court cases , wether its the guy he made strip off, coming back to sue for mental issues caused by degregation , or a reporter who feels affronted because , he asks if she eats flange , whatever , he is'nt going to mature anytime soon , unless of course it starts to cost him , and personaly i suspect Frank has had a serious word with him , after all Frank can't carry on paying huge money to a boxer who can't sell tickets , becuse he's unpopular , out of shape and only just beating unworthy opponents

I agree with most of what you say, mate. Great post :TU:

But people can change. I, myself, changed a lot recently due to the death of four good friends (all younger than me) & the death of another friends 7 year old daughter in a tragic accident. I'm still an arsehole but a more reflective arsehole.

And I do think things have clicked a little with BJS. He'll always have that dickhead side but he's definitely turned a corner.

I did f*cking cringe at the flange comments & he did too. He know it was f*cking stupid but just couldn't help it. Embarrassing.
