Floyd doesn't need to stay outside, he actually has done well on teh inside vs many fighters. However, Hatton maybe a different animal on the inside. But, if Floyd has to move all fight, he will. The guy spars 15 minute rounds, I don't think stamina is an issue.Max Molyneux wrote:Hatton's got the style that could beat Floyd out of most of them.
Box fighters are just too taylor made for him hence why Gatti got slaughtered so bad because he tried to box him.
He'll have trouble keeping Hatton on the outside and having to constantly move his feet to keep him at bay.

He'll tire still though if he had to move his feet for the whole 3 minutes a round to keep Hatton off eventually. Especially since Hatton's a good body puncher.Mattyp151 wrote:Floyd doesn't need to stay outside, he actually has done well on teh inside vs many fighters. Floyd will probably defend a lot early though and he seems to like covering up then countering.
Floyd doesn't seem to like fighting near the ropes either. He ain't a strong guy either hance why he's learned to box very good.
Everytime Floyd moves, guess what has to happen for their to be punches landed? Ricky has to move. Can Ricky chase FLoyd around for 12 rounds? No way. Pressure doesn't bother Floyd as much as people think. He got buzzed by Corley, and yes, Judah hit him well, but, he's as good a counter puncher as you'll find. Ricky is a great body puncher, but Floyd has proved to be pretty rocksolid thus far. Pressuring him would work until Floyd figures it out about 3 rounds in, and picks away at Ricky for the rest of the fight. Seeing as Ricky is pretty easily cut, I'd say TKO late for Floyd. No because of any big power shots, but an accumulation of accurate punching.Max Molyneux wrote:He'll tire still though if he had to move his feet for the whole 3 minutes a round to keep Hatton off eventually. No, he had plastic surgery to close the cuts to speed up healing. Still takes 3 months for that, against 6 the normal way for the nature of those cuts.mattym wrote:hasnt hatton had like a plastic surgery thing after maussa that will majorly toughen up his vulnerability to cuts? Anyway, if kostya couldnt cut hatton, i wouldnt put money on "pretty boy" doing it.
A lot more goes into cuts that blunt power. Floyd throws fast punches, and grazing your face at the right angles can easily cut you open. Hatton bleeds about as often as Gatti at this point, and he was bloody after 1. Not saying that that will happen to Hatton, but it has to be in his mind that his eyes aren't 100% in any fight.

He was cut again Maussa and not for ages ever since before that. He was monly cut because of headclashes and Floyd ain't as dirty as Muassa.
Doesn't matter how they occured, just the fact they did occur. Punch, headbutt, there is still remnants of a cut over each of Ricky's eyes.Max Molyneux wrote:Judah and Corley ain't as strong as Hatton though when it comes to pressure.Mattyp151 wrote:Everytime Floyd moves, guess what has to happen for their to be punches landed? To counter your Corley and Judah statement...notice those two gave Floyd two of his 4 toughest fights...and they were by far the fastest fighters Floyd has faced. Hatton is nowhere near as quick. You could compare him to Castillo, but Hatton isn't as good defensively as Castillo, and he almost uses his face to block punches.
look how little confidence Mayweather showed vs Castillo. Castillo kept on bringing it, in that capable way of his, and Mayweather had to focus on defense and took most of the steam from his own punches, he doesn't want to trade with a bigger, faster, fitter man than Castillo. ok, Hatton's punches aren't as horrific or as sharp as Castillo's , but let's not forget Ricky has skill and fitness and combine those traits with educated pressure - this is something that Mayweather won't like. Definitely, Ricky still has things he needs to learn. I can't believe how ready ppl accept that Mayweather will beat everyone.
It's not like the Gatti and Judah fights proved Mayweather was the best at 140 and 147. everyone knew he was going to beat Judah yet he lost the first 4 rounds and got knocked over. I don't mean to nit pick but if PBF is being put on a pedestal...

please.... hatton's defense holds well just because he doesnt make it obvious doin huge swings left to right... He has good blocks and parries, and his reactions are underestimated. He has good head movement, just people never realise it cos he moves in such a subtle way it looks like the opponent missed rather than hatton dodged. His defense isnt flashy but he doesnt wate energy and it gets the job done... 40-0... he must be doing something right. Magee put him down in the first a long time ago because hatton was cold etc etc it was flash.. no1 else has ever realy hurt him.

Hatton's the naturally bigger man and stronger than Castillo with the pressure.
He only defended punches with his face against Tszyu because of the game plan he had for Tszyu. Since when would any fighter do that unless it was a game plan except for Mc Cullough?
He surely won't need to be quick enough to get inside and rtear him down then and Floyd could only use skill there since he's not that strong. Pressure sure is the way in my opinion to get at him. Hatton won't try to box him.
Judah hardly gave him a hard fight looking at the scores and after round 5 either.

Bottom line is, it's a fascinating fight and a very interesting clash of styles, but is anyone else now worried that it might never happen? Mayweather is obviously looking for De La Hoya next, and after that maybe Mosley. Hatton might be two or three fights down the line, and a lot can go wrong between now and then - especially since Hatton has the kind of style, and lifestlye, that has quite a limited shelf life.

Saying Hatton has no skills is nonsense. The guy IS a pressure fighter, but he is also a tactician. His body punches are unreal. To write Hatton off as having no skills is really quite stupid. I honestly think if he sticks to a game plan then he can take PBF, the biggest worry is surely cuts, nothing else. PBF is an extremely good boxer, but he isnt invincible like some people try to make out.

Hatton is deceptively quick. He closes the gap very fast, and actually has pretty cute footwork. It doesn't often look that way as he is coming forward throwing shots, but he uses the angles very well.
However, Floyd is one of the best tacticians in the game, and can make adjustments, and I don't think Hatton is cute enough on the inside to make contact enough without getting tagged himself.
I think Floyd will find a way to win the fight, but it could be a close one, if it ever happens of course.

We are of course talking about a prime Forrest. Forrest was a darn sight better boxer than Corralles and had a better chin too. Corralles cannot help himself but swing for the rafters.liamlion wrote:Corrales effectively fits the criteria of "a tall fighter with a good jab who has power..." and he got smashed to fook by Mayweather. I cant see anyone outboxing Mayweather - he is the master of ringmanship. Forrest looked great against Mosely, but how many years ago was that? Mayorga smashed him bad in their first fight and at present Forrest has no recent form to speak of.lirva33 wrote:Actually that's not the style to beat Floyd. He can mix it and beat those guys as he has shown.liamlion wrote:I think Mayweather would cut Hatton to ribbons. Hatton is very open, his defence is his face. Whilst Mayweather is the king of ringmanship.
However if there was one style to beat Mayweather it would be to maraud, hussle and ultimately bully him. Hatton is currently the best in boxing at fighting in such a manner.
The style to beat him is a tall fighter with a good jab who has power and a chin and skills....
Vernon Forest.
It's similar to Roy vs Tarver or Mosley vs Forrest. Now, both were on the slide but that tall compact defence coupled with power and solid skills and a chin is the recipy to beat Floyd as well. Forrest can lead and can counter and has every punch in the book. Other than him, I'd take Floyd over most, Mayorga, Mosley, DLH, Boldomir, Margarito etc.
I can't say the same for Hatton.
hatton has no accuracy???? he sure managed to hit tszyu in the right place.....
I think people with such closed and arrogant minds (no offense) are never going to give hatton any credit. We'll let them talk now and then have our fun when hatton fucks mayweather up. Say what you will, i think hatton will win this superfight. This is the sort of point where we have to agree to disagree and then see who is right on the night.
Btw i have nothing against floyd fans who think he can win, its easy to see why people could think that, just when people knock ricky in a stupid way its annoying. so little skills
sure mate whaaaaatever you say ![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Only just seen the Mayweather-Judah fight, and thought Judah took three of the first four rounds. Thought Mayweather was asking for counter hooks as he repeatedly lunged with straight rights and fell into clinches, not following the rights up with anything. But he is so fast that it's easier said than done catching Floyd on the counter and if speedy Zab can't then who can. Zab was still impressing in the sixth. Showing Mayweather isn't untouchable.
But from the seventh I thought Mayweather took all the rounds added to a few of the earlier rounds for me. Totally outboxed Judah who would come back with sporadic lefts.
Roger Mayweather was a dickhead for jumping in the ring, the same dickhead Darkie Smith was. Let the referee do his job.
I had it 8-4 rounds to Mayweather, so 116-112, same as Harold Lederman. The judge who scored 119-109 was way out of line.
Mayweather-Hatton next please.

After watching the fight I have the following points.
1. Judah caught Floyd flush with some left hooks and floyd took them. Floyd has a great chin.
2. Floyd WAS ligitimately knocked down in the second, however it was just an off balance shot and his hand touched the ground.
3. Judah was at his best in the fight. He was sharp and dangerous early and that Judah is a very very dangerous fighter.
4. Floyd did tremendously well to adapt and beat Judah. He was remarkable. His defence is world class absolute top line. His stamina is absolute top line. He spars 15 minute rounds.
5. Floyd has a great BODY ATTACK. Seriously good, even better than Hattons.
6. Judah hit him low on purpose but because the referee called a time out and roger jumped in it's not a DQ.
7. Floyd was ready to fight again within 20 seconds of being hit low!! He made a point to touch gloves and hug Judah afterwards to quell everything down. RESPECT for Floyd.
8. Respect to Judah. it was refreshing to hear him say, "I've got no excuses, he was the better man tonight. He has a great defence".
9. Mayweather WOULD HAVE STOPPED Judah if Judah didn't hit him low.
10. Judah is indeed FASTER than Floyd with his single shots, particularly his left hand.
Great fight. It showed how great Floyd really is. That wasn't the Judah that fought Boldomir, as was noted by the commentary. Lewis was good in commentary and he also said he didn't think any1 at 140-147 could beat Floyd including Hatton. Floyd is clear favourite over Hatton and would find a way to win that fight. His defence is too good, he is too accurate and he's too great a boxer for Hatton. I'll be shocked if HAtton hmakes the fight.

All Hatton brings is intensity, he ain't even accurate. Hopefully he fights Mayweather.
Go suck your mum dry with a straw.
What I mean is, take away Hatton's intensity (by boxing and moving and putting him off balance like Magee) and what does he have?
Take away Mayweather's speed and he will beat you with something else.
Maybe I was being unfair, because he did box Magee well after, but Magee showed that Hatton can be confused and boxed. Now we know Mayweather is about 50 times better than Magee, so boy........go figure.
