GBP was never worth 5 billion dollars. If he gets a small piece of all profits and an even bigger cut of his own fights that's far superior than being an abject failure in Boxing like Jay Z and 50-cent.
Whatever it's worth, DLH owns most of the pie which means he'll have more money than Connor owning 2% of the UFC.
I doubt that.
If they can push Dana White out of ownership, they can dictate how much McGregor should earn of the UFC.

Dana isn't in ownership. Mcgregor was already making 15 million + a fight, that's going up no matter what the terms are.

Maybe, neither touches a cage fight for him. Oscar was a star a long time ago.
Boxing generates more money.
Oscar was indeed a star a long time ago. His return against anyone with a tiny bit of name recognition would generate more for him than McGregor will for a UFC defence.
Lol, whatever you say.
You don’t agree that boxing generates more money than MMA?

Case by case at the top, yes. McGregor makes more in the cage than anyone active boxing. Possible exceptions are canelo & Joshua. He made more than them boxing. Lightning in a bottle.

Nah.
At all levels.
Boxings biggest attraction earns more than MMAs biggest attraction.
Lowest level boxers earn more than lowest level MMA competitors.
The sport of boxing brings in more money than the sport of MMA in any given year.

Dana isn't in ownership because they pushed him out. The same people laugh at the little money McGregor would put up just to own 2%

There's truth to what both of you are saying imo. Boxing in general pays better than MMA at all levels. I'm not sure that Oscar vs any decent name would earn him more than what Conor will earn in his next MMA fight, though. "Lightning in a bottle" is probably the best way to describe it. MMA can produce bright stars, but those stars fizzle out much quicker than in boxing. Rousey was one of the biggest name in sports for a couple of years, the money would have been rolling in (although not entirely sure of her purses, may have had just as much coming in from film and TV), but now she's irrelevant. Conor is riding high right now, but doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that will be here in 5, 6, 7 years time. In boxing you have the likes of Oscar and Floyd who can earn mega money for 10+ years, Canelo is well on his way to joining them, I'm sure AJ will too.

In fairness thats a whos who of the elite fighters of the time

He clearly beat tito and mosley 2

Has some very good wins on his record over the likes of whitaker, quartey, vargas, mayorga etc

Mayorga was a big favourite to starch him. The look of shock on his face as he looks up at Oscar after being dropped in the first round is one of my favourite moments in boxing

I still can’t believe they gave Mosley the decision in the rematch.

yes i agree he beat tito and shane in the rematch.

as for this i cant have too much confidence in a 45 year old hard liver whose been out for years. great fighters lose all the time to guys they wouldve demolished back in the day. i know mcgregor is an mma fighter but hes clearly got some talent for punching and is a young guy. wouldnt shock me if he did well

lol now im sounding interested in it

LOL, two posts ago he was in ownership. Bizarre you didn't just let that fall off. They bought him out and begged him to stay on. He's great at what he does.

Oscar was favored over Mayorga, I bet on him. Agreed on Tito and Shane 2, he lost to Whitaker just as clearly.

Arguing about who earns more!

Zukcerberg needs to take up boxing, he’d secure a fair few fans immediately judging by this discussion!

Seriously, what do fans care how much a fighter earns? All I care about finance wise is that they all earn good money. It’s a tough and dangerous sport and they should all be paid well. People obsessed by money and are materialistic are generally absolute wankers. See Floyd and Connor for two prime examples.

You're right. I wasn't old enough to be gambling back then but I recall a lot of people saying Mayorga would win and even in commentary I remember Ian Darke being shocked at how the fight was going.

What is going on with Conor McGregor?

I read somewhere that Manny Pacquiao wants to fight him too? :o

Who's going to be next to call him out; Shane Mosley? Thomas Hearns? Marlon Starling? Sugar Ray Leonard?

He just seems to be a cash cow for ageing & washed up former fighters to pad their retirement funds with.

Easy nights work for a good payday. All want a piece before his star fades I’m guessing.

Seen a picture of Oscar recently and he looks like he's in his 50s! He'd probably still chin McGregor if he was in any sort of decent shape but I'd rather he just stayed retired.

When did I say he was still in ownership? That's why I quotated that Dana is "the boss"

Please no ! :witzend:

Colin Hart was spot on for me when he was on Boxing Matters after the Mayweather v McGregor fight. He said something along the lines of "now the UFC people can go back to their sport and the boxing people can get back to theirs".
