Why feel sorry for Hennessey JimJim2009, he couldn’t and hasn’t managed any of his fighters over the years, yes he may of got the likes of Froch and Fury world titles but he hadn’t exactly made them multi millionaires like Hearn had made some of his fighters, look at Witter, Hennessey done nothing for him, we can all say it was down to Witter but hang on it’s a promoters job to promote, he should of at least made Witter a few million, Hennessey has got to be one of the worst promoters in history. Just think Hennessey had it all, the fighters, Froch, Barker, Fury, DeGale, Eubank Jr, John Murray & Kid Galahad, the TV deals Sky, BBC, ITV, Channel 5 but his incompetence and laziness cost him and his fighters big time.

I do feel it’s the best move for Tyson signing with MTK, why give 10% of your purse to a bloke who does jack all for you?

It also give Fury the chance now to work with what promoter he wants to on his return and get the best deal and earn some serious cash. I hope he joins up with Ricky Hatton as his trainer and then Matchroom as they are the only promoter at the moment who could take him to the next level. Whatever your think about Tyson he still is a massive name in world boxing and giving the right backing he could become the biggest name in the sport.

It’s pretty simple why they signed a rematch clause for the first fight at the 11th hour.

It would have led to Fury getting a bigger payday for the first fight, no doubt his percentage would have been increased from the standard mandatory level. It would also have seen him gain a guaranteed larger slice of the rematch, if and when it happened. No way would they have simply just signed a rematch option for nothing more in return.

I don’t think it’s a good move. Mainly because I don’t believe Fury needs a manager, he should just remain a free agent and deal with promoters on a fight by fight basis. He’s not some wet behind the ears nipper just starting out. Not entirely sure what MTk will do for him. It’s not like he’s one of these that wants the “kudos” of being involved with them either like I think is the case with some! He seems like his own man who takes orders off nobody

Not sure Fury was badly advised regarding the rematch as much as his team overrated his popularity, leading to the need to host it in a comparatively small venue and therefore astronomical ticket prices.
You're missing the point.... They had to fight Tyson, guaranteed split, no clauses at all. Mick conceded all of those things. Wlad would have had to vacate otherwise, that's the whole point of being mandatory.

I thought it was a mandatory therefore no rematch clause required?

Spot on, and that was my point. You spend your whole career building towards winning a world title, the whole idea is to be able to go and do your own thing, not answer to the guy you just beat. If you are mandatory you don't have to sign a rematch clause or options. Fury should have been with someone who has the clout to withstand the temptations being placed their way. It was a bad move.

This is why you hear promoters and managers stressing the importance of getting into the mandatory position - its so you don't have to sign a contract akin to the argos catalogue. You win the title, you walk away and do your own thing. Some fighters aren't good enough or well handled enough to get into the #1 position, and for them, a voluntary crack is the best they can hope so - fair enough. But you don't get into that position and then sign away options. We'll never know the details as it was done at the 11th hour behind closed doors but from the outside looking in it was not a smart move. Drugs allegations notwithstanding, Fury should have returned to the UK victorious, for the usual easy first defence.

Well when you put it like that, it is hard to justify sympathy for him I guess. Its sad as he was with Fury from day one but as Mickey Duff said, if you want loyalty, get a dog. You can only guess at the millions Tyson hasn't earned, through bad management. And, widening things up a bit, it was downright stupid to put Hughie in with Parker. Hughie might have won a fight like that with more activity and better opposition. Absolute stupidity.

He might of been with Tyson from day one but what has he really done for Tyson, look at AJ and what Hearn has done for him. Just imagine if Hearn had got hold of Tyson all those years ago, he could of been the biggest star earning millions and in beating Wlad he may of got the credit that is due, sadly Hennessey done nothing for Tyson after the Wlad fight. But we have all come to the conclusion he may be a nice guy but no clue on how to promote a fighter or event and being nice don't earn you or your fighter money.

Agree also with the Hughie fight but working with Hennessey he had no other options and again has been poorly advised, I think Hennessey must of pushed the fury's in to the fight as he hasn’t much else on the go at the moment, just look at the show he promoted on Friday night at a leisure centre, he is hardly big time is he, the whole show from start to finish was shocking. 5 - 6 years ago Hennessey could of been the biggest promoter in the country with the fighters and TV deals he had but sadly pissed it all away.

I think he steered his career well from a match making perspective. He didn’t have the tv deal to make the big bucks. Unfortunately he was all set to start making a fortune and then Tyson had a break down.

I'd argue that Joshua is a more saleable product as well - not to mention he doesn't sabotage himself by releasing endless videos of himself spouting cack - I agree that Hennessy has not done a great job, but I do also think Hearn packaged what was already a pretty sellable fighter.

MTK Global. I know who Fury is :D

I believe, Irish drug barons, fronted by Matthew Macklin.

Should mean Tyson gets a fvcking cracking rate on his sniff at the very least!

Oh it's those lot. Some ex IRA (allegedly) in there isn't there or is that their rivals?
Not the "ra" but I did see a pic on fb a couple years back of a head from Scotland that would be in with the kinahans and he was with a member of the "reals" which was surprising 'cos the reals had been taxing and clipping dealers in Dublin and Cork.

Same all over the US - hence your Wilder/Miller/Ruiz etc all willing to travel to get the cash.

Same with Spence/Golovkin etc....pay per view generates real hard cash to get these guys to the UK now.
