Gotcha, but is "his story" "history"? I think their would be potential for a great "unauthorized" book here. Perhaps moreso than for any other fighter I can think of. If it was Tyson and not Pryor the work would be in proccess already simply due to the "gold mine" aspect. And so many easily substantiated disagreements with that text. Silkov you sound like just the historian to do it! But would you follow the facts or build a fortress?
OH and please.....don't confuse the word "carefully" for the word "successfully". Though I suspect success was maximized through care.
I don't "know" much here I'm just compelled to believe that there is enough smoke to imagine the fire was likely rather warm. Your a rather prolific writer and historian yourself, is it a topic you would take up? Not sure there is any real profit motivation for an "unauthorized" version.
Aaron Pryor V Oscar De La Hoya

I've thought about this match up a lot. I have to go with De La Hoya on points in a very competitive fight. We'll never really know, but I think De La Hoya would be a bit too big for Pryor, and although Mosley did beat a bigger De La Hoya, I don't know if Pryor had the style to do it. Mosley vs Pryor would have been a great fight as well.

I think what he's getting at is that Delahoya was bothered by Moselys speed... especially hand speed, Pryor was even faster than Mosely and threw far more punches
i disagree, mosely had a faster handspeed than pryor, though pryor was the better overall fighter. oscar is just as fast as pryor, however pryor's volume of punches is what makes him great. also, oscar fought a horrible game plan vs mosely, i think a peak oscar is better than mosely. oscars best weight was 135lb.
this is a toss up IMO, oscar is a master boxer and at his peak was special. but pryors craziness, volume of punches, non stop workate and power will spell trouble for oscar.
just remember, oscar was a lot bigger than alexis arguello, whose best weight was super featherweight.
as for who did oscar beat?
felix trinidad
miguel angel gonzalez
rafael ruelas
ike quartey
aging but still formidable pernell whitaker
john john molina
jorge paez
genaro hernandez
old but still formidable julio cesar chavez
all very good fighters
pryor may have beat arguello, but alexis was not as his peak. alexis best fighting weight was super featherweight, not 140lb. on film, he looked faster, better reflexes, more power, more effective at super featherweight. i guess u could say arguello was in his lightweight prime

DLH did not beat Trinidad. 10 out 10 times I score for Trinidad. DLH should be ashamed of that fight running for three straight rounds. That is not the mark of a great champion. Maybe I’m old fashion but I will never score a fight for someone who ran a marathon like DLH did. Trinidad won get over it.
The quartey fight was very close and could have gone either way.
I score the Whitaker fight for Whitaker.
The Molina fight was so difficult for him and many people feel that was his first loss. If Molina did that much damage to him then what do you think Pryor would do to him.
DLH was great but Pryor would break him down in the late rounds. Just my opinion.
Talk about a gift decision he got from the Sturm fight that he clearly lost.
Yeah Molina roughed him up pretty bad and I thought Quartey beat him.borinken25 wrote:BB your bias is so transparent.BrocktonBlockbuster49 wrote:
