How good was Bob Fitzsimmons' jab?

Can anyone please tell me how good was Bob Fitzsimmons' jab according to the description from the books like "In the Ring with Bob Fitzsimmons"? Does he had an effective jab?

It certainly wasn't enough to keep Jim Jeffries at bay. Nor Jack Johnson, who put Fitz out quickly and said he hated Boxing that day.
