fighters your unfair to/been unfair to
anyone willing to admit fighters theyve been unfairly critical of? it got pointed out to me that im kinda hating on a fighter and there is truth when i think back and consider that its been 95 percent neutral/negative and like 5 percent positive. and its not like theyre someone deserving of that ratio.
sometimes i probably hate on ggg because its absurd how overrated he is with so many ppl and stuff like every time hes apparently struggled its because he chose to. but putting that aside hes actually a very good fighter.
i like to wind up jamie cox fans, but to be fair hes actually a really solid english/maybe commonwealth level super middleweight

You aren't smart enough to spell correctly to say nothing of figuring out why you are hating GGG.

Never had an issue with Tyson Fury until all his UK fans spray their shorts at the mention of that terrible Wlad fight. They praise it as the greatest fight in U.K. History on twitter. It boggles the mind. Both were terrible, one just sucked less than the other. "He kept Wlad punchless for most of the fight. He's a genius"
Bah! With the amount of punches coming back at Fury, he should have KOed Wlad then. Not that sloppy, slappy stare down. Not to mention the one round Wlad did throw a normal amount (the 12th) he won the round. Lol.
So yeah. Now I hate on T Fury. But mostly cause of his fan boys.
PS. Not a Joshua fan boy.

In the past Pac-Man, Shane Mosley and Roy Jones Jr. in my opinion they were more athletic than anything else, which is not a fair assessment. Right now I am really struggling to like AJ. I underrate his boxing skills. In my minds eye I believe that Klitschko could and should have beat him...but for the fact that he didn’t nor was Wlad dominating him in terms of a schooling.
Re: fighters your unfair to/been unfair to
GGG, Kovalev and Lomachenko I'm normally very critical of. Not because I don't believe they're very good/great fighters, but because they're put on a pedestal they simply don't belong on. None of which have achieved ATG things in the sport, yet get treated as if they did by many people on here.
Kovalev is a killer, but I still believe he doesn't handle adversity and will crumble next time he's faced with it. I don't care what excuses people make about the Ward fights, but Kovalev flat out quit in the second fight. Once he realized he wasn't getting Ward out of there and he was in a real fight once again you could see his demeanor change. He started to hunch over when hit with body shots complain to the referee even when legal shots landed and it's no wonder he was tagged with low blows, isn't it against the rules to bend over below the waste line? Leaving yourself defenseless while hunched over, I don't think you have a damn thing to complain about when you get hit by a low blow and the fight is stopped.
GGG again a killer no doubt, but I believe he has overrated skills and gets too much credit for his skills, when it's really a great chin, a high work rate and over matched opponents that have earned him a inflated reputation. Tough as nails no doubt and is in great condition every time out, but far from a skilled fighter. I thought it was pretty obvious in both the Jacobs and Alvarez fights who the more skilled fighters were and it wasn't GGG. But with his great chin and conditioning, he was able to close the gap in skills and make the fights super competitive.
Lomachenko skill wise is fantastic. Other worldly and ATG skills? Hmm.. honestly, WTF has he done to deserve such a status? It's cringe worthy when you hear so called boxing fans and even experts (those idiots on HBO) talking as if a guy with 10 professional fights with a loss to boot being compared to the true ATGs who actually proved how great they were over long careers against bonafied great competition and champions. It's not so much Lomachenkos skills I'm critical of, it's the pedestal he's put on. fornicate your eye test lmao, that's the dumbest shit I've ever heard when it comes to rating a fighter who achieved so little as a professional. If you want to hold him in the highest regards as a ameatur, I 100% agree, but he belongs nowhere near any ATG list under any category when it comes to professional boxing.

Re: fighters your unfair to/been unfair to
I think it can be helpful to state your preferences when criticizing fighters. At least then people can see where you're coming from. If you like action then guys like Ward, Mayweather, Fury etc will never appeal. You are more likely, like myself, to be a fan of fighters like Tyson, Hearns, GGG, Joshua, Wilder etc.
It takes me longer to appreciate the all round guys who have a bit of everything but even in my case I didn't need to be a genius to see how good Leonard was from the get go. Anyone can, or should be able to see fairly quickly that Lomachenko, Kovalev or Spence are special. Spence and Kovalev especially for not being scared to travel, or to attack the home champions.
Let's not forget how long it took so many people to recognise how unique Ali was.
That was just simple bias because in his case they didn't like him or his views. It took the Rumble in the Jungle and the Thriller in Manilla to silence the doubters. Gotta keep an eye on our biases.

Probably dirrell and wlad are the only two. Even though Andre definitely faked out if the Abraham fight he did show stones against degale. I was a wlad fan early, then hated him for being so passive against shit. Fact is he beat them all and showed his stones against aj. I'm fair to anyone else I can think of whether I like them or hate them.

... and they are not Americans, don't even speak good English. How can they be ATGs ? Only Americans, preferably black, can be ATGs with rare exceptions made for a couple Brits, Mexicans, one Panamanian and one Philippino.NateJR wrote: ↑28 Nov 2017, 06:32 GGG, Kovalev and Lomachenko I'm normally very critical of. The Kong of Coke Mountain.
Re: fighters your unfair to/been unfair to
I thought Linares was past it at 31 and thought he should pack it in. At 34 he is top #2 how wrong I was.
After the second Frotch fight I thought Groves would not make anything more than a courageous domestic champ.
There's plenty more. If I dog out a fighter and they prove me wrong, I tend to become a fan. Nothing like seeing a fighter improve like the two examples I have listed.

Re: fighters your unfair to/been unfair to
Hmmm, good thread. Off the top of my head, the fighters I’ve been most unfair to in recent times have been Kovalev and Badou Jack.
Kovalev because I always maintained he was a lot more vulnerable than most people would credit, and the constant depiction of him as an unstoppable monster pissed me off. I probably ended up criticising him more than he deserved after the Ward fights, mainly because I felt vindicated, which was petty of me.
Jack because for ages I kept expecting him to get bombed out easily since he got ko’d early. It’s taken a while, but he’s finally convinced me that he’s the real deal and just got caught cold.

Eubank Jr and Conor Benn at the current ones I can think of
Re: fighters your unfair to/been unfair to
Mike Tyson when I was younger. Understand a lot more than I did then.

I’ve was an AJ hater for a while. Lightened up recently. The man can fight.
