I totally disagree and find the previous allegations to be lacking in fact. Kovalev has a very strong chin and can take as well as he gives. His body tends to be the major question to be answered.

Yeah, he just lacks heart.

^^^
Of course he has a chin.
Re: Does Sergey Kovalev Have a Chin ?
Although there are times Kovalev reacts strangely when hit bang on the chin, he certainly can take it and has proven that. He can not absorb body punches as well, never learning how to fight inside was his undoing before it may prove that way again. But I doubt his chin will let him down anytime soon.
Re: Does Sergey Kovalev Have a Chin ?
His chin is adequate (much stronger than Dawson’s and not close to SOGgy’s) but not great. If he gets clipped by the likes of Stevenson or Beterbiev like he did against SOGgy I think he folds. Of course, that goes for nearly everyone on the planet.
Re: Does Sergey Kovalev Have a Chin ?
We all have chins.
He has a chin, he just doesn't have a tummy to take a punch.
Serious answer: he takes a punch upstairs better than he takes one downstairs. Very good exciting fighter but Ward is a bit better, but boring IMO.

Re: Does Sergey Kovalev Have a Chin ?
I don't know. Ward seemed to have stunned him with a few head shots. Low blow or not, Kovalev was stunned.punchingpundit wrote: ↑30 Nov 2017, 04:00 I totally disagree and find the previous allegations to be lacking in fact. Re: Does Sergey Kovalev Have a Chin ?
You obviously don't have strong mental equipment. Kovalev has never been legitimately knocked down. His foot was stepped on in a glove touch. And his gut was never in question... He was hit WAY SOUTH of the gut unless you're blind as a bat.. His chin is real good.
Re: Does Sergey Kovalev Have a Chin ?
knocked down by boone and hurt by ward. also knocked out hard in the amateurs and theres footage. he looks uncomfortable when hit.
Re: Does Sergey Kovalev Have a Chin ?
thx for telling us that ward is a bit better but boring.you should bring up how ward schooled barrera too.because thats what the threads about.every kov thread from now until the end of time will turn into how ward is better or how kov got robbed
Re: Does Sergey Kovalev Have a Chin ?
If you're talking about Dempsey, Tunney will come up. Talking about Abbott, someone will mention Costello.
Re: Does Sergey Kovalev Have a Chin ?
'so what about kovs chin'
'ward is better and schooled a guy who beat shabrasnky'
erm, okay tones.
'ward was good'
'gift against kov!!!'
mate theres a lot lot more to these excellent fighters then each other. some people just cant move past things. take a tough fight like the fans ask then have the fans never stop beating u up over it or having every fornicating discussion in the context of each other.its very negative too. not like ppl celebrating an entertaining series

Re: Does Sergey Kovalev Have a Chin ?
Ward isn't better than Kovalev.. He's not as good in power, the jab, or boxing skills. He's a dirty bastard -- he has a big advantage there.
As far as Barrera goes... Any top Light Heavyweight would have schooled Barrera when he had 17 fights... He's a lot better fighter now.

Re: Does Sergey Kovalev Have a Chin ?
Yeah Ward is a dirty fighter and he fights ungly inside fights that are boring. He uses his head ALOT. i can't imagine anyone who truly likes boxing wanting to see Ward's dogged style over Kovalev landing a few laser guided shots off someone's knot and dropping them.
Re: Does Sergey Kovalev Have a Chin ?
He beat Kovalev twice, though. Outboxed Kovalev, and Kovalev was fading late while Ward was recovering. Ward is also faster, more accurate, and better at avoiding punches. Kovalev's only means of keeping the punch count close was to just throw a way higher volume.Kalan wrote: ↑30 Nov 2017, 17:49Ward isn't better than Kovalev.. Re: Does Sergey Kovalev Have a Chin ?
kov in first fight did better of the 2 outside. ward is complete though and can take it in if outside isnt working. one of his great strengths. can box well in many ways and has lots of alternate plans.both very good fighters with different strengths.

I think he does, somehow he has balls as well, otherwise he wouldn't have been down at all

Re: Does Sergey Kovalev Have a Chin ?
Sergey Kovalev’s durability only becomes an issue when he’s fatigued, which we clearly saw several times during both of his bouts against Andre Ward.
By his own admission, he’s a bit like a less extreme version of Ricky Hatton, because he doesn’t live the life of a world-class professional athlete between bouts.
Between fights, he likes his beer and he also enjoys travelling home to Russia, to spend time with his friends and family, which means that he’s not an all-year-round gym rat. He only becomes disciplined during training camp.
Krusher has conceded that he has learned a valuable lesson from Andre Ward, which relates to the fact that he has to continue preparing himself properly between bouts in order to remain at elite level.
The thing is, Kovalev is approaching 35 years of age and I’m not sure if it’s now a case of “too little, too late”, because he’s probably already on the decline, coupled with the fact that his aura of invincibility has completely evaporated, which means that highly-ambitious and talented fighters like Artur Beterbiev, Oleksandr Gvozdyk, Badou Jack and Dmitry Bivol will not be intimidated by him.

Re: Does Sergey Kovalev Have a Chin ?
Kovalev has pretty sturdy beard.
On the other hand it seems hes balls are quite brittle. He will never be able to beat true masters of the sweet science if he can't find a way to fix that issue![[icon_twisted.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif)
