Demetrius Andrade: Now I'm at 160, Canelo Cannot Run From This!
Undefeated Demetrius Andrade (25-0, 16 KOs) has warned Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo' Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) that he can run - but he can't hide.
Andrade has been gunning for a fight with Canelo since the two of them were competing at junior middleweight.
Back October, Andrade made his official debut in the middleweight division and dominated Alantex Fox over twelve rounds.
It was also the first bout for Andrade of an HBO multi-fight agreement. Canelo also has an exclusive contract with HBO - which now prevents any network issues in matching them.
Andrade feels that with contract deals on the same network, and fighting in the same division, there is nothing to prevent them from facing each other in the future.
"Canelo Alvarez who is popular and was at the 154lb weight division. I was knocking on his door numerous times trying to make a fight happen with him and he kept staring different ways. Now he’s at the 160lb weight class as I am, so he cannot run from this, eventually it’s going to happen and the best and the strongest will survive," Andrade told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.
Andrade believes Canelo ducked him when the two boxers were at junior middleweight. The WBO stripped Andrade of his belt for inactivity and he was poised to get a title shot at newly crowned champion Liam Smith.
But the WBO allowed Canelo to skip over Andrade, and fight Smith for the title.
After Canelo knocked Smith out, he had little interest in facing Andrade.
"Yeah definitely [he ducked me], and people will hear me say that when I had the WBO Jr Middleweight title, he was supposed to be my mandatory and they somehow took him from being number one and put him somewhere else. I ended up not fighting Canelo Alvarez because I had some politics of boxing business," Andrade said.
"I got my belt stripped from me because of lack of activity and all of the sudden here comes Canelo Alvarez fighting for the belt that I got stripped of, but he didn’t want to fight me when I had it. That’s a good example for people to understand."

What a clown. Dude chased jack culcay for years with complete tunnel vision.

Canelo can't run from you??? ... Watch him.
Re: Demetrius Andrade: Now I'm at 160, Canelo Cannot Run From This!
Canelo cannot run from this?
How about try actually establishing yourself as a contender worthy of a shot jackass...there's at least 6 guys at Middleweight more worthy of a crack at Canelo than Andrade. If he wants to jump a few places in line he might want to try beating somebody with a name value instead of Alantez Fox.
What is it with this era of fighters thinking they've achieved some sort of Legendary status just because they talk sh*t on Twitter.

As for Canelo having the chance to fight Andrade when he had the WBO 154 title, yes he could have. Andrade would have been a much tougher match-up style-wise and skill-wise for Canelo than Smith.
That said, Andrade needs to shut his mouth and do his talking in the ring.

Guys that do nothing, but talk and complain about how nobody is fighting them while they remain mostly inactive get zero sympathy from me. If you want big opportunities earn them, don't beg for them.apollo creed wrote: ↑01 Dec 2017, 10:20 WHY NOT : ''Now I'm at 160, Jermall Cannot Run From This!'' ???

Didn't realize how delusional Andrade is 'till now.
Re: Demetrius Andrade: Now I'm at 160, Canelo Cannot Run From This!
How can Canelo avoid him, when he don´t know him

Re: Demetrius Andrade: Now I'm at 160, Canelo Cannot Run From This!
Wait, so he ran from Derevyanchenko, Charlo, and Korobov, but Canelo is somehow running from him?
Re: Demetrius Andrade: Now I'm at 160, Canelo Cannot Run From This!
In the present day of Boxing, it's not considered a "duck" if the avoided fighter has no fan following or will not sell enough tickets to make sense. I don't blame Canelo for stepping around Andrade. It always amazes me how boxers don't understand this. They talk about their record and ranking and blah blah blah...can't they just realize "ok, some of my last 5 fights weren't even televised so what makes me think i'll get a fight with Canelo?".

Not when it comes to selling tickets. Smith had and has a huge following across the pond. Plus Smith was low hanging fruit for a strap.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑02 Dec 2017, 08:10Canelo vs. Andrade > Canelo vs. Smithcaldo2025 wrote: ↑02 Dec 2017, 08:07 In the present day of Boxing, it's not considered a "duck" if the avoided fighter has no fan following or will not sell enough tickets to make sense. Okay, but what about Andrade? Andrade/Korobov>Andrade/Pucheta, Andrade>Charlo/Andrade/Nelson, Andrade/Derevyanchenko>Andrade/Fox. Andrade ducked 3 fighters.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑02 Dec 2017, 08:10Canelo vs. Andrade > Canelo vs. Smithcaldo2025 wrote: ↑02 Dec 2017, 08:07 In the present day of Boxing, it's not considered a "duck" if the avoided fighter has no fan following or will not sell enough tickets to make sense. Re: Demetrius Andrade: Now I'm at 160, Canelo Cannot Run From This!
Andrade is nobody to duck. He barely stays active enough to remain a ranked contender. There are at least 5 guys in line for a crack at Canelo before Andrade. If Andrade wants his shot he can get in the ring and earn it against some notable contenders. If he wants to keep begging for it, and not getting it. I feel no sympathy for his whiny, undeserving ass.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑02 Dec 2017, 12:19Not saying Andrade did or didn't duck 3 fights.. The thread is discussing Canelo not fighting Andrade.
Re: Demetrius Andrade: Now I'm at 160, Canelo Cannot Run From This!
A win over Derevyanchenko would've made him into a highly respected boxer, but he ducked Derevyanchenko. Imagine if Andrade had wins over Korobov, Derevyanchenko, and Charlo. He would've been on top of the boxing world, but he instead chooses to duck and call out guys like he's relevant. Absolutely NO ONE should pay attention to this dog with no bite. He's a complete nobody.gilgamesh wrote: ↑02 Dec 2017, 12:21Andrade is nobody to duck. He barely stays active enough to remain a ranked contender. As you said, Canelo has a lot better and more accomplished fighters at his heels. Andrade is at the back of the line. Golovkin and Jacobs deserve the fight more than anyone else at 160 lbs. Further, the winner of Saunders/Lemieux would also deserve it more than anyone else. Already, 3 fighters with best resumes, and I haven't even gotten to Derevyanchenko, Charlo, Murata, etc.
Re: Demetrius Andrade: Now I'm at 160, Canelo Cannot Run From This!
yup. I highly doubt that Canelo/Andrade would have had over 1.3 million PPV buys like Canelo/Smith. That's the bottom line.

Re: Demetrius Andrade: Now I'm at 160, Canelo Cannot Run From This!
Canelo not fighting Andrade had nothing to do with a comparison of Smith's popularity. Simply put, he was a much easier guy to beat for the belt. Andrade, as much as he talks, actually is a good boxer....just needs to start taking risks instead of only chasing big paydays. Add to that he is 6 inches taller than Canelo, longer reach, and a southpaw to boot. Virgil Hunter says he has better over-all skills than Lara, more power, minus all the movement (running).
Maybe Canelo can use Andrade for a tune-up if it is such an easy win.Andrade doesn't deserve the fight, but I'd still like to see it.
