Anthony Mundine vs Tommy Browne - January 17th

Post by Like a Boss »

Tony Mundine used to pride himself on the fact neither he or Anthony had ever been beaten by an Australian.

That turned sour for Anthony the night Garth Wood knocked him out, and he has since lost to Daniel Geale and Danny Green.

Tommy Browne has the opportunity on January 17th to become the 4th Australian to beat Anthony Mundine. A loss that would almost certainly end his 18 year career.

Is Mundine draining himself again or is he making this guy come up to at least super-middle?

Should be an * next to Green's name there... ;-)

Back on topic but, Mundine should have too much for Browne.

I believe this fight with be at mddleweight. So Browne will have to fatten himself up a bit.

Browne’s last fight at super welter so he won’t have to put on too much. Mundine shouldn’t fight below Super middle in my opinion. He looks too weak anything below that.

I agree Mundine would be stronger at super middle. But apart from his loss to Green he hasn't fought above middleweight since 2009.

Yes and that was over light heavy. It would be a task to get back to middle again.

Yes and that was over light heavy. It would be a task to get back to middle again.
The Green fight was over 10 months ago and people at the time were claiming it was an ask for Mundine to get up to light heavy.

I’m sure he would easily walk around at light heavy and still a fair bit of weight to bring off. 79.38kgs down to around 72.57kgs. He looked shocking at middle and even worse at 154.

I agree he looked shocking at 154. Terrible career move. But 160 pounds shouldn't be hard for him. He has been fighting at way lower than that for years. The limit for this fight will have been Mundine's choice anyway. Not Browne's.

Yeah but not getting any younger and wouldn’t have been there for quite a few years now. I’m sure he’ll get there but I don’t think it would be as easy as you think.

Mundine says he is willing to fight in England against WBO middleweight champion Billy Saunders.

Makes me think the Browne fight will be at 160 pounds.

Retirement is his best option but he obviously wants to keep going. I don’t know how he would need money as all his fights have been ppv. Each to their own I suppose but I would be surprised to see any significant wins at his age.
