Terry Holmes - What Happened?

Post by Taansend »

On the heels of the latest "Where is King Lear" thread, I'm starting a "What Happened To Terry Holmes" thread.

A 5-0 Welter out of North London way he stepped up (his previous opponents combined record was 25-296-7) to fight Irish prospect Dean Byrne (who didn't reach the heights once proposed) and surprisingly outpointed him over 8 rounds.

That was back in 2012 when he was only 21. He took a year out & fought a bloke with a 2-1-1 record to record his 7th straight victory (1 ko) then VANISHED.

Anyone know what happened?

Would also like to know this. He had a lot of potential. I was at his debut when he fought Jonny Greaves and hit hit him like a floor to ceiling ball. Never seen anyone do that to John.

He is BJS brother in law, not sure why he quit but according to one report he signed a 5 fight deal in 2013 but dropped off the radar again. In 2013 he said he was working as a tree surgeon.

Do they ever fight to a fornicating win? It’s all draws! Hardly a punch landed for 20 mins then ‘shake hands boys’

Never saw this one but I highly doubt it was like that if they are of that standard. I watched one a few weeks ago, both brilliantly schooled boxers about 19, that ended in a draw, but was a great fight to watch.

They must keep all the good ones off YouTube so they can sell the dvds? Holmes is obviously a good boxer but was ineffective against Noel Ward, who didn’t seen to do much himself although he looked like he can hit. Very cagey, scrappy affair.
