How do you beat him? In my opinion you need to have good to great boxing skills, incredible stamina, incredible mental fortitude to deal with the frustration, a grappling game or you need to have great boxing skills and a good ref who is a boxing purist.

You got to have neutral judges too. It is extremely hard to win against somebody good who is allowed to head butt, elbow, low blow and hang on you for the whole fight.

Nobody is allowed to do those things, awareness of where the ref is and how you flirt with the rules is a skill in itself, get over it, its been this way since year dot, oh and judges get paid off only in the movies

Yes, Kovalev under performed, especially in the second fight. He would still have gotten a nod in the first fight if judges were neutral, and who knows how the second fight would go if a ref was punishing Ward for fouling.

He had Ward hurt in the 2nd round of the first fight and couldn't finish him. Either Kovalev isn't as tough as advertised or Ward is tougher than many are giving him credit for. You will forever be butthurt for that loss but at the end of the day, it will always say Ward W Kovalev with no asterisks.
