Sportsmanship doesn't count as a punch landed, Roy dominated that fight and won outright, and was blatantly robbed. I think they should pull the Korean out of retirement from his 0-8 career as Roy's going away fight.walshb wrote:He lost it because of his arrogance and lack of respect for his opponent. you must be joking Roy Jones dominated him that fight. Having respect or having no respect does not win you a fight. Beating your opponent SHOULD win you the fight.walshb wrote:He lost it because of his arrogance and lack of respect for his opponent. There's no question this was one of the biggest robberies of all time in Olympic boxing. Park landed some punches but was outboxed all the way.
The Korean never turned pro. He's now a coach for the Korean Olympic team.I think they should pull the Korean out of retirement from his 0-8 career as Roy's going away fight.
My bad, I confused him with...locoxelbox wrote:There's no question this was one of the biggest robberies of all time in Olympic boxing. I never said Jones was NOT the better fighter, he was. I'm just glad he lost because there's absolute no place in amateur Olympic competition for belittling and disrespecting ones opponent. That's all part of the pro game and can add spice to the pro game, but Jones lack of class cost him Gold.
Yes he was a fantastic amateur with all the tools to be the best, but he lacked the class and dignity to go with it and the Humility. I guess you can't have it all.

No, judges cost Roy the Gold, anyone who says anything different is insane. 86-32 in total punches landed...almost 3 times as many.walshb wrote:I never said Jones was NOT the better fighter, he was. Imagine if Floyd landed 60 more punches this weekend...would anyone be sayign Zab put up a good fight? No. When you get tripled in punch count in a decision, you lose.
