Loma GOAT potential
Loma GOAT potential
This guy's skillset is absolutely incredible.
Re: Loma GOAT potential
It is. If i had to give it a score, if prime jones 9,9. prime mayweather 9,6. Loma would be 9,8. Guy is like a alien. Too good.
Re: Loma GOAT potential
On a scale from 0 to kalan, this last post is an 8.
Re: Loma GOAT potential
If I had to give Lomachenko a score on a scale of 10??? ... Lomachenko would be a 10... Salvador Sanchez would be a 9.9... Mikey Garcia would be a 9.9... Willie Pep would be a 9.9... Gene Tunney would be a 9.9... Floyd Mayweather would be a 9.9... Eder Jofre would be a 9.9... Gennady Golovkin would be a 9.9... Terrence Crawford would be a 9.9... Anthony Joshua would be a 9.9... Errol Spence would be a 9.9... Ray Robinson would be a 9.2...
Roy Jones would be 9.4... Tommy Hearns... an 8.8 – which isn't bad on a scale of 10 – don’t knock it.

I know Loma gets a lot of hype. But, he deserves it. In the 20 some odd years I've been following the sport, he is by far the best I've ever seen.

He is definitely in a GOAT list.

Are You with that dumb question??? .... If you have a number of losses in your prime -- how can you be a 9 or a 10?Jip wrote: ↑10 Dec 2017, 01:43Are you a trollKalan wrote: ↑10 Dec 2017, 01:40If I had to give Lomachenko a score on a scale of 10??? ... Re: Loma GOAT potential
Yes. Even with the size advantage one has to be impressed by the fact that he just completely shut down Rigo, and left him unable to do anything except hold or duck. Rigo was even resorting to fouls because there was just nothing else he could do.
Re: Loma GOAT potential
And to add that I think he can get better, he needs an opponent that can force him to shift gears. I hope he moves up in weight.Impractical Poster wrote: ↑10 Dec 2017, 01:44 I know Loma gets a lot of hype. But, he deserves it. Mikey is currently my favorite fighter. But, I can't even see him winning against Loma. I've never seen anything like him. He makes proven top fighters look like amateurs and quit on their stool.Ricky_ wrote: ↑10 Dec 2017, 02:14And to add that I think he can get better, he needs an opponent that can force him to shift gears. Re: Loma GOAT potential
loma already has better quality record than ggg and vitali
Re: Loma GOAT potential
He has a better record than anyone... Even Floyd didn't beat 3 undefeated fighters who can box and punch well.
If he could beat another great like Mikey Garcia at 135 -- that would pretty well clinch who's the best of all time.

Floyd and Roy also would have starched a Salido caliber fighter instead of losing.

His pro debut was a title bout. If he's the best ever, he should be ready by age 25. No excuses.

Re: Loma GOAT potential
Vasyl Lomachenko is an excellent boxer, a supreme talent and possibly one of the best pound-for-pound fighters competing today. He has the potential to achieve great things throughout the remainder of his career.
That being said, instead of boldly proclaiming that he's inevitably going to surpass Sugar Ray Robinson, by becoming the sports' next "Greatest Of All Time", we need to consider his latest victory in its true context.
He defeated a veteran opponent that was past-his-prime, considerably older than himself, much smaller than himself, whilst Lomachenko also being regarded as the relatively heavy betting favourite.
The Cuban was also competing outside of his natural 122lbs habitat for the very first time of his career, against a fully-fledged super-featherweight. And whilst Rigondeaux may have competed in more fights, Lomachenko had consistently mixed with a higher calibre of opposition.
For the record, the intention of this post is not to undermine Lomachenko's accomplishment last night, but to try to persuade people from prematurely proclaiming Vasyl as the "GOAT", because he isn't.
Let's not forget that very few people from this forum gave Rigondeaux a chance entering his fight against Lomachenko, so let's not pretend that the Ukraine has performed some sort of miracle of epic biblical proportions!

Re: Loma GOAT potential
dont think pro experience should be discounted like that. its simpky something that has been so rarely trier that im not sure true atgs would be able to pull it off.title bout or not he didnt have the pro rounds.JeanClaude Van Damme wrote: ↑10 Dec 2017, 07:10jamamb wrote: ↑10 Dec 2017, 07:092nd fight though?JeanClaude Van Damme wrote: ↑10 Dec 2017, 07:04 Floyd and Roy also would have starched a Salido caliber fighter instead of losing.

yes loma was older but pro experience still counts. just not that many bouts later i think he wouldve easily beaten that salido.he did ktfo a guy with a similar style who had recently beaten salido.
deffo not seeing the goat, hell i think mikey beats him now,, but imo the salido loss means little and means even less and less as he keeps getting wins. dominant wins over guys better or no worse than salido.
Re: Loma GOAT potential
..I believe the thread is about Loma's potential and not about being at this point of his career "the one and only"..I certainly wouldn't even pretend to have an intimate knowledge of all boxers' records over a span of 100-150 years..
Re: Loma GOAT potential
Loma is definitely a very highly skilled boxer with a tremendous gas tank. Awesome combination. Before thinking GOAT potential though, remember he already has a loss, only 10 fights. Back up a couple of years and put him at 135 vs Mikey Garcia and Crawford. I don't see Loma beating either of those guys...especially not Crawford. Loma said himself he thinks Crawford is the best pfp right now.
Re: Loma GOAT potential
This was early loma. New at pro boxing against a cheating salido who came in the ring as a welterweight and most people thought loma won.JeanClaude Van Damme wrote: ↑10 Dec 2017, 07:10jamamb wrote: ↑10 Dec 2017, 07:092nd fight though?JeanClaude Van Damme wrote: ↑10 Dec 2017, 07:04 Floyd and Roy also would have starched a Salido caliber fighter instead of losing.

But people make goat remarks not about the loma version years ago, but the prime loma of now who looks close to unbeatable.
And now f;&.#k off with your damn resume. It aint about that. We talk about physical abilitys, skills.
Re: Loma GOAT potential
to me the loss isnt really much of a knock when pretty much no one else has shown they could beat such a good opponent with like 3 rounds of pro experience.
but goat is a super high bar. lomas good but for one thing a guy like floyd had just as good skill but with more power, for example.mikeys combo of size and skill would ve too much imo. not a lock that he beats davis or berchelt either
