Chances of Eubank ducking Groves to make the Truax fight on ITV?

Post by TheLeprechaun »

The Groves fight is still a fair bit away. He's committed to that fight but clearly the Truax fight would be easily made and on ITV Box Office again and a pretty easy win for a major title in the division. Truax is probably going to lose to Benavidez or Ramirez so Eubank only has a short timeframe to strike.

What 25,000,000 reasons? That is not the winners prize pot. I think there is $50m total prize to be shared across every single fight so the winners will not get anything like that, maybe two mill each?

i think i saw that the person who wins will have made around 8m total across 3 fights.. baseline money for each fight which increases, winners bonus for each, then eztra prize money on top of that for winning whole thing.

That's about the same cash Eubank or Groves would have got for that run if either beats Smith in the final. Much more than Smith would have got for his run.

Considering , i said a while ago Eubank will pull out , I'll stand by what i said , and say it would'nt suprise me , not one little bit , Eubank has shown in the past public opinion don't matter too him , mouthed off he beat Billy Joe , then refused a rematch when offered , well documented wanted the GGG fight then refused when offered , pulling out of a Groves fight and citing we got bigger fish to fry and we want to unify , would'nt suprise me in the least

Wouldn't surprise me but unlikely to happen I'd have thought. Truax will have to make his next fight a good payday because at his age and with his limitations (as everyone has alluded to) he probably isn't going to have a long reign. Whoever offers the most cash has the best chance, I think he'd be crazy to risk a quick defence against a lower ranked opponent, he won the lottery last night and has a major belt in his hands. Unluckily for him (Truax) most of the other top SM's are involved in the super series. Maybe allegedly will offer him big bucks for a Degale rematch?

How many promoters do you think will be offering big bucks for DeGale now?

I can't honestly see anyone being interested in the rematch,Truax won't get offered enough as De'gale has never been a ticket seller and i think Allegedly took a gamble on him and it back fired,he'd be unlikely to finance anything again.

Good points boxerbeetle and bigjack but maybe allegedly will be happy to take a loss and gamble big on getting the belt back or he will miss out on the mega fights when the dust has settled on the WBSS. Although saying that I reckon the Groves rematch will still be there regardless of who wins the GG vs Jr bout albeit for less money than previously thought. I don't think Degale is necessarily finished, that performance has been coming for a long time and he admits it is "back to the drawing board" but he is still a potential future opponent for Groves, Eubank, Smith etc. Admittedly its a long road back from here for Chunky but he didn't suffer a bad KO or get schooled/beaten up badly and he's not past it age-wise. I can't see him being willing to drop down a level to rebuild though so maybe gambling on a rematch with Truax is his best way forward, very surprised that wasn't in the contract tbh, he could have got a bad cut or DQ'd even if he was winning

I think its highly possible we see a Eubank "injury" over the next week or so. They have someone on standby if someone in the tournament gets injured. Eubank would be out of the tournament and could provide "proof" that he is injured.

They swerved the GGG fight but I think both Eubanks fancy their chances here.
