It sickens me to see yet again forum members accusing fighters of being juiced up without a shred of evidence.

Not easy being out for so long as a belt holder as you have to do 12 rounds as a warm up for bigger things

Andre Ward had 18 months out and defended against Paul Smith

In for a long road back into contention.

Did not look right coming into this fight, maybe the injury or his last fight against Badou Jack shook him worse then anyone could have guessed.
He's not done by a long margin though, he knows he's let everyone down and I don't think for a second he'll be calling it a day.

Now it's more the case of how does he build himself back up into a ranked contender ? Does he go to America and fight over there, Aim for the European route and then tackle the world level again or Does he go the British and commonwealth route and make a name for himself on home soil again to save face and prove himself.

This will have knocked him and he has to have a long hard look at where he want's to go from here but seeing him re-build himself and a claim through the British and European route would be great to watch next year.

There is a good chance his last fight took things out of him permanently

Far too early to write off DG, some really daft comments on here - the Jack fight was BRUTAL, and to come back straight in with ring rust v an obviously very tough hombre ( the KO loss just looks a case of getting caught cold, same as with Badou Jack, it happens ) who was obviously very motivated & heavy handed - and James really DOES mark up doesn’t he - so it’s a tough loss no doubt, but Chunky can come back from this - GREAT chin, Jesus! those shots he took in the 5th would have cleaned Groves clock for sure, and there’s no quit in him at all, brave as hell, give him that at least,

But he needs a better corner and tactician that the well meaning Jim McD, that for sure - too often he just seems to be winging it, staying on the ropes ..etc etc

Get him a good new trainer and he’s still one of the top top SMiddles - Plus I would say he’s been in with some very sturdy fighters last three or four fights - DG can punch - don’t forget the way he put over Dirrell. ( and Groves was no way going to trade with him ).

...guilty of believing his own hype. Doesn't live the life and he's paying for it. He didn't rate Truax before the fight and thoroughly deserved to lose. As English says, this might be the best medicine for him and he may take things more seriously otherwise he won't make the millions he claims to need.

I know for a fact Degale is out as my mates from Surrey / Berkshire area have been out with him (Ibiza and london). I’ve seen pictures albeit from 2013-2015

With regards to the nose candy I can’t say as they didn’t mention it. They just mentioned his sister ha ha

Lots of insiders hinting that he likes to party and its a small community.

He's been out of action for a while following an injury he may or may not, be completely over, so who knows.
But, I've always thought his workrate was poor from the mid-point of fights and this trajectory was coming. In my eyes, he's gone further than his previous displays have suggested.
Maybe he will turn it all around and consistently display the quality he clearly has; I was never convinced of his consistent performance over 12 rounds but it would be good to see him prove my thoughts wrong.

He hasn't seemed happy for a while now, every time ive seen him interviewed he comes across as surly and defensive, probably spends too much time worrying about what purses other fighters are getting rather than being happy that he has/had a successful career of his own, needs that attitude knocking out of him, though I fear it might be too late for that now

Stuck in the gold medal mode and forgetting what he really needs to produce. Sounds about right.

Definitely a hard road back and I wonder whether he wants to go back through the European, British and Commonwealth treadmill. I suspect it is old, pretty unappealing ground for James and a fair step down in terms of money and prestiege.

Maybe it will be a case of a long break and opting for a 'hail mary' shot at the big time.

Bury the hatchet with Groves and just get the fight made or back in with Traux if he's actually still got the belt? He seems to have reached a point now where it is everything or nothing.

I know Groves has got commitments but he must surely fancy it and would get very good terms.

Could see him having a summer cashout fight with the loser of Groves v Eubank and that being that.

The guy has too high an opinion of himself imo, less than 10 fights ago he was plying his trade for no money in a shopping centre ffs....convenient injury that stopped him entering the World Series thing too.

Ego far too big to go British/European route

Failing at world level and then dropping back to British used to be the way back, but now with so many 'world titles' available it hardly ever happens.

I didn't think Truax would win but I expected it to be a hard night.

Honestly, DeGale barely beat Medina. And afterwards he acted like he breezed it. DeGale is quality but he's not as slick as he thinks...

the frustrating thing is he has more than got the tools to school a fighter like truax. Needs to have a serious look at himself then go again

I've always been of the opinion we overrated Degale, okay he's a dangerous fighter but I don't think he's ever nailed down his own style.

He spent too many years trying to copy the Mayweather shoulder roll.

What a way to blow a mega pay day.

Personally, I think has been overrated for a long time. I hope it was just an off night and his shoulder isn't truly damaged beyond recovery . I recall he carried a knee injury for a long time before and now the shoulder. He could be David haye light.

i was very pleased that the decision went the right way, this country has handed out some stinkers to visiting challengers over the last 5 years. well done the judges. I had Traux by 3 rounds.

Though Dave Parris the only British judge scored it a draw.
